The Formula 1 2013 Season |OT| End of the Webber Era

McLaren outdeveloped by Sauber, which was and probably still is in dire financial situation. What an embarrassment to every person responsible for throwing away 2012 car, producing this shitbox and not even developing it at the same level as Sauber.

Yeah Sauber hasn't received any russian money so far. Though the deal might have helped to appease the creditors...

Team boss Monisha Kaltenborn says @rubarrichello won't be joining Sauber: "I am ruling out he will drive for us" bbc.in/16p7MrD

very happy about this as it is a very good for Guti

So we have been recruiting in the technical team, strengthening that quite a lot actually. There have been quite a few new starters this year.

"There are some yet unannounced that will be headline grabbing when they are announced

Newey wants some of that McLaren-Honda action...
it'll be Ross Brawn :(

Just came back from watching Rush. It's a really great movie. It doesn't really go that deep into F1 or that era, but that makes it broad enough for people who don't follow the sport to care about the story. Even my girlfriend enjoyed it and she doesn't care about F1.

Hamilton makes it 3 times in less than 10 days, add it to the mix the stupid Alonso' comments on the tires (stupid because no amount of bitching is changing the tires now) and we have two top mature drivers behaving like children this weekend

Lewis Hamilton is sure that he can beat Sebastian Vettel - but not Red Bull.

The Mercedes driver, who will start the Korean Grand Prix from second place behind the German, indicated that Vettel’s domination this season is down to his car rather than the triple world champion’s talent.

The Briton pointed out that Vettel was "not unbeatable, his car is unbeatable" adding that former teammate Fernando Alonso is the top driver in the current field.

Hamilton and Alonso were paired together at McLaren in 2007 that resulted in a bitter fallout by the end of the season following which the Spaniard left the team.

"Fernando Alonso is the fastest of all for me," Hamilton said in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. "If you've even dealt with Fernando, you have no one to fear here."

Whitmarsh wants Alonso so bad lol:

Saturday 5 October 2013 23.00 BST

"We could afford to bring Alonso here next year," he confirmed. "In all probability for 2014 the die is set but who knows in the future. I shouldn't be stoking wild rumours of his return in 2014 but would we welcome him back, be delighted to have him back in the team? Of course we would."

The subject has been under discussion since the Singapore Grand Prix when Whitmarsh said that any of the teams would want Alonso and McLaren's managing director, Jonathan Neale, noted that there was "a lot going on behind the scenes. We want a strong driver lineup".

It isn't happening, but it's clear McLaren know they've made a mistake with Perez and want to get shot.

2012 Race Summary

Mark Webber, who qualified on pole, lost his lead at start to team-mate Sebastian Vettel at the first turn. Lewis Hamilton lost his third place to Alonso on first lap, while his team mate Jenson Button had to retire after a collision with Kobayashi, who also collided with Nico Rosberg of Mercedes. Felipe Massa moved to 4th place after overtaking Hamilton who was suffering from an anti-roll bar failure on his car, which led him to lose couple of places in the race. Massa was quickly gaining on his team-mate when he was told to hold his position on his team radio as Alonso was the championship contender. At the end of the race Vettel was continuously told on his team radio to slow down and save tyres as he had a problem with tyre degradation on his right-front tyre. Vettel finished first and took a six-point lead in the Championship over third-placed Fernando Alonso, who had led since the European Grand Prix. Webber finished second, setting the fastest lap. Lewis Hamilton finished 10th after battling for position with the two Toro Rossos of Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Éric Vergne, but fell back in the closing laps as a piece of AstroTurf got stuck on one of his car's sidepods.

When is the race on?

Also, what was that chatter about traction control earlier this week? Any developments or has it been debunked?

A closed loop TC system (where wheel spin is measured) is illegal. An open loop TC system (where revs, revs ramp, accel, car speed, track temp are measured and wheel spin can be guesstimated) is legal and you can bet that every team has some form of open loop TC. It's just that Red Bull's is better than everyone else's.

What happened to Brundle. Ted Kravitz is doing the grid walk today. Got a lot more drivers than Brundle manages though lol.
