The Formula 1 2014 Season |OT2| Louder Than Formula E

It's unbelievable that in 2015 there is no live video footage from the tests available as pay-on-demand Internet stream.

You want to give them money, but they won't take it.

And the lauhable thing is that FOM TV crew is at the track:

Also, no live timing. How difficult is it to stream it? It's available to teams, press, but not fans. These people really have no idea and they wonder why audience and interest is shrinking :/

Any x-clusive first hand impressions?
I'll post some pics later if I can, but the Honda sounds no different to the other cars (at least to me), Mercedes look clearly the best so far, Sauber don't seem as bad as last year, the Red Bull camouflage looks cool and Max Verstappen looks like a character from Thunderbirds in real life.

Also, there's a lot of people in the grandstands at the back of the circuit. Wish there were more cars here though.

Oh, and Toto Wolff was on crutches earlier.

Cool. I've heard that the main problems they had last year was that the car was too heavy, and that the nose was badly designed (and they didn't had the money to redesign it). And the Ferrari engine, of course. If they managed to get rid of the first two problems there, things might work well for them. But even with the improvements, the Ferrari engine will still suck against the Merc ones from Lotus and Force India. But they might be able to fight Toro Rosso, who knows...

Don't get me wrong, it would be great if anyone could challenge Mercedes. I just think the front running action will be strictly between Hamilton and Rosberg. That could still be somewhat interesting if it gets as intense as last season.

The merc is very much an evolution so it makes sense for them to be straight into it at the start of testing, I still expect this season to be closer by the time testing is over and racing starts proper.

The hottest rumor is that Mercedes is using 2014 power unit (because they are able to do more laps than other teams combined) :D

Interesting to see red bull have gone the Williams nose route while Merc have gone even shorter and everyone else has gone long. I'd guess Williams might be quietly more confident in their choice after seeing the two best chassis from last year nearly matching their nose.

No doubt Rosberg will do the most laps today, he always does.

Nice to see last year's time beaten already.

It would need the absolute opposite to make the season interesting :)

I'd be fine if it's just Ros v Ham. So long as it's a genuine fight again.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
I look forward the most to Kimi vs. Seb. It's probably the battle with highest stakes for both drivers.

AMuS reports only Lotus and Mercedes passed front crash test with short nose without any appendage:

McLaren, Ferrari, Red Bull or Toro Rosso will try to do the same in the coming weeks, meanwhile they are using "safe" versions to rack up mileage on track.

Rosberg slowly creeping towards 130 laps

I do not remember when team did 40 lap stint on first day of testing

EDIT: Mclaren with technical issue, it could be end of the day for them

Goddamn, that Ferrari looks breathtaking.

I kinda hope the Red Bull camouflage was meant to hide the nose that didn't pass testing.

Why would Mercedes use the old PU?

Mercedes using a lot of flo-viz. They are officially doomed

Maybe whey they'll get title sponsor? So December 2013? Nah, never then:

Ron said the concept of title sponsor is outdated.

Alonso no saldrá más. Problemas electrónicos

Problems with electronics at McLaren, they won't be out again today.

So 6 laps during first day, even with benefit of Abu Dhabi test. It's almost as bad as Renault last year and the only positive thing is car isn't setting itself on fire... yet :/

How amazing would it be if Vettel would finish ahead of Alonso this year.

I'd probably quit F1 after that.

Did Ferrari improve their engine this much or did both Ferrari and Sauber go for glory runs?

They say that they improved it. Sauber could be going on fumes to attract possible sponsors and Ferrari was fastest last year on the first day - probably they will be a free practice kings like last year, in front on Friday and behind on Saturday.

Also, Rosberg set that time in the beginning of the day on colder, greener track.
