When you know the other team has a spy, assume everyone on your team that runs by you is them. If you shoot them point-blank, a spy's disguise will disappear.

The game is a blast though, just played a pretty long game of CTF on 2Fort I think. My only gripes, and there may be a way to do this, but how do you know where your teammates are on the map, and can you bring up a scoreboard in game?
BCD2 said:- No, no way to tell where your teammates are. That said, the game has excellent sound design, and if they're involved in heavy gun fire, it's possible to pinpoint their location. Depending on your class, it's probably wise to wait for respawning teammates before going back on the offensive though.
- Yep, hit Y to see the score, and importantly what class everyone on your team is playing. Often times you'll see people playing their favorite class not realizing that the team already has too many of them.
If you're playing CTF with no engineer and 4 spies, you'll need to be flexible enough to switch to engineer yourself, and encourage your teammates to try and diversify. You will lose other wise.
traveler said:Cannot be said enough. I went into the game thinking I'd specialize in 2 or 3 classes and play them every time. Now, I regularly find myself going through 4-5 classes in the space of a single round. You need to be adaptable, both for your own good and your team's good. Besides, it diversifies the gameplay within each match, so I find it's more fun to switch it up often. (That said, the Spy and Engineer are easily my favorite two classes.)

You missed the Die Hard reference. Then again, so did everybody else.Spire said:As in the syndrome where you sympathize with your captors.

I rarely know what my mission objective really is or what the point of the objective is. There isn't an antagonist outside of the crackly talking generic soldiers who like to push people around. Why are there aliens that help the refugees? Where did they come from? The ai isn't that good, the music isn't memorable, the sound effects are all over the place with some weapons sounding so overly loud that it makes me not even want to use them. The weapons in general aren't that interesting and neither are the enemies.
REV 09 said:I'm also not feeling the story/story telling...my basic problem here is that i'm over 9 hours into the game and all that i can say is that my name is Gordon Freeman, I don't have a clue what i look like (outside of the cover art/title screen), who i am, or where i came from. Player immersion. That's it really. There's a few occasions where people say he's a man of few words or whatever but by in-game canon he isn't completely mute.luxarific said:HL2 Story

You can get nearly all of this backstory by conversing -with- NPCs, listening -to- their conversations, and carefully examining your environment (particularly Dr. Kleiner's lab). I love the way that the player is just as confused as Gordon is (he's been gone 10+ years). It's without a doubt the most immersive gameplay experience I've ever had.
The only thing I don't like about the game is Gordon's muteness. They really should provide an explanation for it (I like to think they forgot to put a mike into the suit that he wears).
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's intended that Gordon does talk a bit, but the exact words are left to your own imagination/intrepetation.Jenga said:Player immersion. That's it really. Wouldn't put it past Valve to just throw in a glimpse at Gordon at the end of EP3. I'm honestly surprised we haven't seen Gordon's HL2 model since we get quite a few glimpses of him in the HL games. That's not what you said though, "If you shoot them point-blank, a spy's disguise will disappear.". But if that's what you meant, then alright. Just know that often times a spy will just ignore your shots and walk away.Vyse The Legend said:Guess what happens when you shoot someone. That's right, they shoot back, and their disguise fails.
