No. I even went back and did the 4 of the 6 advanced chapters. Like I said, it's a good addition to the package.

I don't know how people are finishing it so fast. The average completion time is five and a half hours.op_ivy said:wow, ep 1 is short! i think it took a little over 2 hours, wth. i was expecting a good 5 or so at least. is ep 2 as short? how much were these as stand alones on steam?

Well back then they were all "Barney". But the one that is THE Barney is the one who was seen locked out of a door during the opening tram sequence in HL.fatty said:Very small spoiler:Is Barney, the guard that leads me to the doctor in the beginning, the same security guard from the first game? Its been a long time but I think that is the same name. Anyways, Im at the point where I got in a mix-up in the transporter so now Ive been slumming around sewers for a bit.
I think part of it is level design. I never minded the Flood that much in Halo, but what did piss me off was the endless corridors of identical layouts filled with the Flood.op_ivy said:again, i post this knowing someone will take offense to the statement, but i think its hilarious that people bitch and moan about the flood in the halo games, yet i almost never hear complaints of the fodder enemies in half-life (head crabs, zombies, antlions, acid ants, etc). i find the half-life fodder enemies far less interesting and more frustrating to fight (mainly because of the health system) and they take up a much larger proportion of the game then halo's flood.

just some of my thoughts (haha, look at my avatar! jk)
This reminds me - why does Barney say "about that beer I owed you" at the beginning of HL2? I don't remember anything about him owing Gordon a beer. Is it just one of the random things the NPC "Barneys" say in HL1?fallengorn said:Well back then they were all "Barney". Guys, what do you think ever happened to theBreen? Is he really dead or does his conversation with the advisor mean something? I mean he talks about a new body and the conversation is even repeated in Ep1. They seem to be at least hinting at his possible survival. Some believe that he's shapeshifted into an advisor and he's one of the advisors who's after Alyx and Freeman. I don't know if that theory holds any truth, but I do think he's not exactly gone.

Headcrabs, well, I just like the sound they make when I squish them with the crowbar.

This video supposedly explains how to wedge it in the car, but I haven't tried it. I just went very slowly.jetjevons said:So question for those who've played through Episode 2
I'm at the part where the helicopter chases the car through the train yard. I'm playing on Hard. I'm bringing the gnome with me for the rocket man achievement. How the hell you put the frickin' gnome in the car so he won't fall out! It's driving me crazy!
Ah, that's kind of what I suspected. Thanks.SuperEnemyCrab said:Yeah if you talk to the guards they eventually say something like "catch me after work and i'll buy ya a beer".
I've just got a quick question: is the Lost Cove (I think that's what it's called) from the PC version in the Orange Box? I recall seeing a few videos of it two years ago or so and it looked really fun.

Darunia said:Gnome run complete! wow, the internet made that one sound way harder/tedious than it actually was. In the chopper parts I just left him near the beginning of the area, raced the car over the ramp and returned for him afterwards (chopper gone). Then I did just the same in the second part. It's actually a win-win situation, because you can enjoy the scenery while you're on foot carrying li'l gnome. It was soothing and relaxing.
fixed.Revengeance said:Finally finished HL2 (for the first time) and the episodes. It was actually my second attempt at HL2 - the first time I gave up 5 minutes into the driving section. I just couldn't grasp the controls. Too much time driving in Halo. This time I pushed past the driving sections, and man was it worth it (although I still think the driving with controller is pretty unintuitive).
Anyway, the games are brilliant. Here are my requests for Episode 3:
1. Be able to use the Portal gun.

Revengeance said:Is anyone else having freezing problems on the Benefactor level of HL2? My game freezes at nearly the same point everytime. (I'm playing on the 360)
After 4 restart tries last night I gave up, and let the Box rest, but today it was the same story. This is my first play through of Half Life 2, and I was REALLY into the story, so I went to Blockbuster and rented the game, thinking it might have been a problem with my disc. Nope, frozen in the same spot. The odd thing is, I can play through any other part of the game no problem.
edit: solved it - restarted from the beginning of the level, and it worked. Must have been a corrupted save file or something.

chase said:I've been hard on HL2 in the past because I feel the main guns --the machine guns-- were no fun to shoot. I acknowledge the quality in every other aspect of the game (though I dislike Ravenholm) but having the two major guns in the game be completely unsatisfying to shoot rather harms my opinion of a first person shooter.

xabre said:Then maybe you should invest in a half decent sub-woofer. The guns in the game have plenty of punch.
Captain Glanton said:Yup. What I like best about Half-Life is that every building feels like it's a unique part of the world. Playing Halo, when I look at the environments I imagine a designer hitting 'copy & paste' on his PC.
Also, Halo doesn't have anything as creepy at the poisonous headcrab's rattle. I hate that sound.

i loved the part after you destroy 1 of the emotion things off the "boss" and he starts shit talking about how no one likes you and how no one will care that your dead :lol

On to Episode One.
Once you tie the key into your steam account, you don't need to use it again. You just have to be signed on steam to play.Firestorm said:If you buy the retail box version, do you need to use the CD Key every time to play or can you just enter the CD Key into Steam, download it from Steam's servers, and then play whenever you want?
