There's been some minor hijacking of Hollywood's "FOX is da bomb" Thread, but I like the idea of seeing what exactly everyone watches in the span of the week, on a regular basis. There are alot of show I know people must watch, but due to the lack of widespread GAF love there really isn't any way of discussing them.
Sundays
Desperate Housewives - It's getting back to its core mystery now, which is good; I was getting bored with just the characters. It's returning to its campy best, at the moment.
The Simpsons - This season has been, for the most part, episodes with one funny joke, a half decent concept, and shitty execution. There have been notable exceptions, but on the whole it remains aggressively disappointing.
Grey's Anatomy - It just started airing, but it seems like an hour-long Scrubs with less funny, more real medical drama. It works for me; the young cast seems endearing and generally competent.
Mondays
24 - This season has probably been the most outlandish in terms of how the hell the terrorists managed to plan all of this with not even a wiff of suspicion from CTU, but there have been some great, suspenseful episodes and overall great television.
Tuesdays
Scrubs - It remains a really effective combination of emotional revelations and oddball comedy. The characters somehow never seem stale, and while I will concur with Dan in This Thread that the cast seems to be growing smaller, it's a damn fine cast.
The Amazing Race - Hands down, the best reality show on television. It remains a continuously entertaining and exciting show. It is not consistent week over week at time, but that is the nature of reality TV. They're on a role...let's hope that even the Family edition keeps this up.
American Idol - I'll usually surf or do work while watching this, but it remains compelling, for the oddest of reasons. I mean, you want them to fail, but you also become attached to a person's fate. There is no interesting tasks, like the better reality shows, but few have the same effect.
Gilmore Girls - Witty dialogue and entertaining characters is all this show needs to succeed. It has memorable characters that could be doing anything and remain funny and engaging.
Veronica Mars - Nobody's watching it, anywhere, but it gets a second season anyways. It seems like a kind of lame concept (Hip Nancy Drew, really) but its murder story arc, witty dialogue, hot lead actress and great cast chemistry combine to create a show that is really easy to like. When I first heard about the show, I said "Meh"...and then through Torrents I got caught up and got hooked.
Wednesday
Lost - Best new show on TV, best ensemble cast in television at the moment, and the best sense of mystery in a television program since...well, ever. It has managed to keep suspense regarding the island continuous, through clever storytelling (Backstories) and well-paced conflict.
Alias - While the season started out all kinds of rough, we're getting back to the good stuff now. Sloane and Jack are up to something regarding the long-lost third Derevko sister, Katya Derevko (Isabella Rosselini) returns tonight, and all indicators point to a major return of the Rambaldi legend in the remainder of the season. There have been some very good episodes in the season as a whole, but I think there is major potential for the rest of it to kick major ass.
Thursday
The Apprentice - This season has been kind of beyond lame, in terms of tasks and the advertising integrated into them, but at the same time I can honestly say that I want to see these people crash and burn further. It's way too compelling.
The O.C. - Seth Cohen is the grea
test teenager being portrayed on television today, teenage angst is infinitely entertaining, and this is a smart, entertaining cliche filled joy. It isn't trying to be Emmy-Winning Drama, and that's what makes it work.
Survivor - Best Season in at least two years, if not more. After All-Stars never really got off the ground, challenge/persona
lity wise, Palau is flying. An entire tribe all but extinguished, shark slayings, good and competitive challenges, and a good cast of chracters all contribute. I know a fair few people who stopped watching Survivor out of it getting old who have turned back to it with this season.
CSI - While New York isn't too bad, Miami sucks shit compared to the original. It has characters that aren't serious about EVERYTHING and tend to feel like real people. It is currently the most interesting crime drama on TV, simply because it seems like they have fun sometimes.
Friday
Monk - When it was on, anyways. It survived a big cast shuffle in the loss off Bitty Schram, and managed to continue on relativel unscathed.
Joan of Arcadia - I only get one channel on my antenna so it's really the only choice on Fridays, but the show remains fun regardless.
Law and Order: Trial By Jury - It's the only one CTV carries in a time slot where I can really watch it, but it's genuinely more interesting than SVU or CI have ever been for me. Law>Order.
Saturday
...nothing. But nothing is on on Saturdays anyways.
So, anyone else care to join in? Appointment television has kind of been eliminated with the advent of the TiVo and Torrents, but there are still shows people go out of their way to watch. And who knows, it might open some eyes to some lesser known shows people don't normally give a chance.
