The Game Awards 2015 Thread: Keighley's Last Supper

Witcher 3 winning was expected but deserved I guess.
Glad to see Splatoon win an award though.

Anti-climatic end. Wanted one last big announcement but... nope

The Game Awards, sponsored by, among many other brands, Xbox, presented at the Microsoft theater in LA.
Did you really expect a PlayStation first party exclusive to be awarded?

Hell, with the amount of Star Wars Battelfront shilling going on, I'm surprised they didn't give that game at least 3 awards.

Goes without saying, though, it was worth watching for all the middle fingers pointed at Konami. #FuckKonami
How do you explain the lack of Xbox exclusives winning? Is it so hard to believe that Witcher 3 is a highly acclaimed game? This won't be the last goty award it gets.

It's jury voted not voted by some sentient theatre god.

Seems a bit harsh.

I thought the show was good. It's definitely starting to build a nice foundation and considering this is only the second year it's definitely going to continue to get better.

Its him. He seems like lately its all about getting attention on himself rather than anything else.

That "performance" at the end there was pretty bad but everything else was great. Very cool of Keighley to devote an entire segment to Iwata, he's certainly turned his reputation around since the Dorito pope days.

I love Chvrches, but I thought that performance was fucking awful. Either that, or there was something fucked up with the sound on the technical side, but my favorite song of the year did not sound good.

It was amazingly Muse-style perfect in the room so I'm surprised.

Probably best presentation for the show so far but also the most lackluster world premiers. Still pretty entertaining to watch though.

Edit: Oh and Uncharted looks AMAZING.

Like pretty much every year, this had some good moments surrounded by really bad stuff.

Like every show before this, the Game Awards still suffer from a lack of focus. You can have a pure awards show or a pure promotional thing, but mixing the two will always be weird.

It's a tough problem to solve, though, since it seems most people watching the awards want to see game reveals even though at this point there are a dozen other venues for that stuff.

I feel like Geoff wants to focus on the awards, but is ham-stringed by a need to do promotional stuff for the funding.

I just want to relive that Jade Raymond moment. I hope someone posts it up on youtube.

EDIT - Forgot I can just rewind.

I'd say overall that was an improvement over last year's show right up until when Jade came out on stage, things were just sort of downhill after that.

But oh well, things are definitely getting better from my perspective.

Well, it was a decent conference, but nothing special at all. 1 minute of new Uncharted 4 footage? Guess ND is saving it for PSX. Far Cry Primal trailer was nice, but it wasn't really gameplay... Oh, well, looks like Stefanie Joosten's performance is my favorite part of the show. :p

Stay salty MGSV avatar.

Last year Bayonetta 2 had to win and won a mediocre action game.
This year one of the best RPGs ever created won. Deal with it.

I see people toss the word 'generic' around quite a bit on GAF and I question if they really know the meaning of the world. I'm guessing it's a more trendy way to say 'overrated' nowadays.

Kinda sad that the best announcement (well the only ones I remember) was a Crowd Funded game and a new character in Uncharted 4.

You heard it here first folks. Microsoft gave TGA their theater just so Bloodborne wouldn't win goty.
