Just watched a bunch of trailers on the TGA Youtube page and... fucking hell, why is almost every trailer cut the same way?
Fucking seriously, its identikit shit. Many of the titles are conceptually familiar enough that they really need to have any unique characteristics brought to the fore in order to make them stand out. Formatting the presentation like everyone else is just... deathly.
I'm angry because there's some really good stuff there, but the overall takeaway is just meh, for the most part. And that was from mainlining all the big stuff in around an hour-long burst, I hate to think how deadening it would be as part of the TGA's traditional endless bloat and feast of backslapping.

Welp went through all of the video game trailers and thought the show had a nice variety. I'll probably rewatch it again with some youtuber reaction. Nothing that truly wowed me. I thought the Forspoken game looked pretty good and reminded me of infamous but the facial animations were terrible. I really want a game with that puppet style in the cuphead trailer. That Dokev music trailer killed my hype somewhat for the game since the characters looked like dolls I would buy for my nieces. Tupic or tunic or something has had a style change and it doesn't quite look as adorable. From just watching all of these trailers I would give the show a solid rating of B.

Well firstly I don't think the Game Awards has any impact whatsoever on "what games Nintendo makes and publishes". They didn't greenlight Metroid Dread because of the TGAs.
Secondly Nintendo has had several games get awards at TGAs, and there's no pattern there based on gender. What are you basing your theory on other than "a game with a female protagonist won an award".

Yeap I'm not sure how people can say it was not just better than anything we have today in terms of graphic look.
Of course some can discuss the downsides like to reach that level they had to go with 1440p 30fps but the end result is indeed impressive.

It was the high point of the show.
I'm shocked the organization used Kojima troll to tease 2022... it was that bad and sumarize perfectly the whole show "I don't have nothing for 2021 but I will be here in 2022" lol lol lol

I don't hate or judge (things that aren't boobs) you do you. Yas slay queen or whatever. But I am interested in seeing if there will ever be a cis hetero white man as the influential gamer of the year or whatever. I mean, inclusivity dictates by definition that we're ALL involved, right? This isn't just a virtue signal thing so we look better when we give Activision the most awards of the night, right? Right?
I feel the same. Also the only two out of about 30 games that had male protags. Unbelievable.

After thinking back on the awards show last night i feel like the big three all had a decent showing (Maybe nintendo the least though - we got what, a sizzle real?) and third party stuff was relatively strong outside of some of the weird smaller indie stuff.

Who is playing this stuff - and how can there even be an audience to support most of it? Is all of it destined to bomb?
For me , theres only a handful of games worth trying each year. Been that way for a while and it keeps getting worse.

This "game awards" show spent more time 1. Pushing LGBT/Drag propanganda/acceptance, 2. Pushing BLM as a legitimate example of a beneficial movement, and 3. Virtue signaling about harassment than actually putting forth anything remotely resembling a good "video game". What a waste of my life.

Time for the show to get an overhaul. This current format tries to do too many things and fails at them all.
Remember when they had the BoTW gameplay reveal years back? It was a good 5 minutes or so of Aounuma and Miyamoto playing the game and just talking about it. Now everything is a trailer, usually cgi and the real time trailers are mostly cinematic - which is something I liked a lot about the Suicide Squad trailer, it at least had plenty of gameplay scenes in there.
Also kind of funny how the game awards should be about giving developers their due recognition when in actuality 75% of the awards are glossed over. I would like to see more of these developers come up and get a chance to say a few words

Super disappointing the most exciting reveal was the same game from last years awards show (Elden Ring)
2022 is supposed to be a great year due to 2020/2021 being so fucking shit but boy does the future look absolutely shitty.
Everybody has clearly put their eggs into 2022's basket without much else in the oven, absolute worst lineup of game reveals I've ever seen at one of Jeff's shows......
