Angel rising from the digital blocks. It's in the video.
I thought we were done with this stupidity. The Dorito Pope rises from the ashes, dishing away the Doritos to be a pure Pope.
Yeah I see that now. It's a cool progression. I appreciate the attempt to class-up the videogame industry but I can't help but feel a contrast between the elegance of the award and the crassness of the industry and games it represents. Cool statuette though.
I'm still not convinced that The Game Awards are going to be "the equivalent to the Oscars for the gaming industry", but that award looks fantastic.
Looks good, but what does it have to do with gaming?
Pure Platinum!
Art...life..passsionI don't even know what that's supposed to represent.
Didn't say it needed to be a controller, dude. I'm just not sure how much it's really showcasing the art of games when the award is cribbing notes from other notable award statues. Something more distinct to gaming would have been my preference, but this is still a nice design, like I said.
Pure Platinum!
I could say the same thing about Hollywood today, yet they still frame it all in glamour through the Oscars.
what does that even represent
I don't know. Even extremely crass or seemingly superficial games can have a ton of depth and elegance to their designs. That's why I think it's great that both Hearthstone and Bayonetta got nominated for GotY tonight. The former is seemingly simple and superficial, the later crass, loud and over the top, but both are excellent games - elegantly designed and with a ton of depth.Yeah I see that now. It's a cool progression. I appreciate the attempt to class-up the videogame industry but I can't help but feel a contrast between the elegance of the award and the crassness of the industry and games it represents. Cool statuette though.

Maybe this is another attempt to push games to strive to be less singularly crass and have loftier goals?
I could also see it being used on posters and other promotional items like the Oscar is for movies. It's a very well designed statue. That's an award worthy of a spot on a studio's shelf. Looks very elegant
