Well well well. I wanted to make a topic about how gamespots pow block had horrible ratings across twitch and stream, and how the giantbomb youtube page had the most viewers with up too 600-1k viewers concurrent.(Gamespot youtube reached maybe 300) And how this effort seems to have gone horrible in an effort to modernize.

Well Yesterday on Jeff Grubb's game mess podcast he went on about how his new boss's boss is dissatisfied and doesn't want grubb to stream. Well this is the first day where there was no Game Breaking news the show formally known as Game Mess Mornings.

Gamespot nuked the old shows from their youtube already.

Giantbomb still has the powerblock show, but now they didn't stream anything today.

Guys I think it's the end of Giantbomb.

EDIT: If you didn't know, a month and a half ago Gamespot and Giantbomb combined to have a 5 hour long stream section everyday where the shows of both websites would go live. It was streamed on all channels of both giantbomb and gamespot.

Guys I think it's the end of Giantbomb.

The official end, you mean.

GB should've just folded with Brad & Vinny left and Jeff went solo. Absolutely no one left there carrying what the brand was. I still like Ryckert but he's not enough and pretty sure his podcast outside GB does better #s than anything GB.

RIP Ryan
RIP Big Live Live Show Live
RIP late-aughts E3 pressers

Echos of the stuff gerstman & others have talked about since leaving. Be interesting to see what they do with all the OG "premium" content if they dont just nuke it all.

Bad ratings or was Kane & Lynch scored too low?

I think advertisers anger must have to do with this flop as well , maybe they hated grubb going anti-israel on stream as well as other ways he's not advertiser friendly. The gamespot shows are real high production work, but giantbomb has gone as cheap as possible. Just speculating Of Course. But It must have to do with the POW block not being advertisement friendly and too much effort for the few viewers.

First, let me say, I like Grubb.

Grubb's quality has diminished over the last few years. I don't know if that is because of Grubb or his bosses. Grubb just seems "down".

Grubb seems at his most natural with Menotti. Too bad, they can't run a tongue in cheek Sport Center or Daily Show type podcast with gaming and maybe light tech news.

Here you can listen to the description of the situation. Jeff grubb is probably fired next week, and honestly i'm kinda glad about that. The Giantbomb website has been neglected to the end of the earth and they still offer a premium subscription. It has been a slow death.

Good riddance. I'm sorry but Giantbomb only went downhill since Ryan's passing and they leaned more and more into their biases and often times had completely false or misleading information in the bombcasts. I loved what they once had, Vinny was still great all the way through their history though.

Bro they do 4+ hour full-production podcasts multiple times a week with 5 people that often pull 8000 views at most. If I was the guy paying for all that I would've pulled the plug ages ago.

It died with RD. Sad. It was really great back then. I listened religiously and had a premium sub. Then at some point after this everyone seemingly turned on Gerstmann and everyone was just bitter. Then they all went woke when it was fashionable to do so and I tapped out. I will still listen to Gerstmann's solo show here and there and he is nothing if not consistent with his terrible game opinions.

Huh .. I was wondering why there hasn't been a new Grubb show in the last couple of days.

I horribly miss the game of the year marathons around christmas time with the old crew. Gave the new crew a chance after Vinny, Alex, and Jeff left that only lasted a short minute. Can't mourn something that already broke my heart some time ago.

Giant Bomb right now is just awful. Too much wrestling, too much goofy shit, and outside of Dan I don't care about any of them. Shut it down already.

I'll echo that my heart has already been broken when Brad, Vinny and Alex left. It broke again when Jeff left. And Giant Bomb felt dead to me when I could no longer enjoy their content. There hasn't been much games coverage with the energy they had since. Don't know if there's much out there that captures it.

Giant Bomb has been dead for years.

After Jeff and everybody left it was over.
Basically this. I still get recommendations for GiantBomb all the time, but they never seem to be streaming anything that I have any interest in. I had no idea that GameSpot was streaming at all. I barely ever visit the website as it is. Bring back GameSpot TV?

Let me see if they gave the games I like good reviews so I can see if Im happy or sad about it ... just one sec.

Day one game reviews are becoming less relevant as time goes on. Games can change so radically these days with the release of one or two patches that most day one complaints can easily become invalid. It's like, as a reviewer you also have to return to a game ever six months to re-review it, if it received some major new patches. Publishers are incapable of releasing a 'complete' game on its' first day.

Subscribe to Jeff Gretsman's independent Youtube channel? he still does gaming podcasts and has been ranking every North American released NES game.

Crazy GB still exists these days....they are from another era, like they guys from Easy Allies.

Every once in a while they can produce a decent podcast. But yeah, they have been going downhill since the death of the Game Trailers website.

It is interesting, the old GameTrailers website use to the only real place to go for HD game trailers and gameplay footage. But that ended the moment that Youtube updates their service to support 1080p and higher.

Interestingly enough, GameTrailers is now owned by IGN, and they have been using the GameTrailers channel to actually host game trailers again. They also post the odd review as well. But the site is mostly just trailers.

Kyle Bossman runs his own independent channel.

Oh I know.. dont care about the access/woke media reviews for years now ... they are irrelevant for me.

Like many others here, I loved GiantBomb but it seem to quickly go down hill at certain points for different people. I know some feel when Ryan Davis died that was the start of things failing, but for me it was that fucking cuck Patrick Klepic joining. He made me skip so many videos and streams that it started to become "I'll wait a few days for shows or videos" to then weeks and months.
Of course other members were completely against my tastes, but he really ruined it for me.

Ryan dying was really awful, not even the fact it was his wedding, just overall. The crew did try and work through it, but it did seem like it was too much for some of them (to be clear, not in a attacking way, more of a sympathetic way).

Then most of the origionals left and it became GiantBomb in name only (even though I hadnt watched anything of theirs in years). On a happier note, I do still randomly watch their long play through of Deadly Premonition.

Gamespot and Giant Bomb even being together when Gamespot dicking over Gertsmann back in the day is just bizarre to me already.

Let the ashes of games media blow away, the only people with talent that don't treat their audience like crap can make their own youtube/substack/custom website.

None of these websites do any real research anyway, they just mine the crowd-sourcing of social media like anyone else.

I think you are going to find that these mega companies are going to start viewing owning these Gaming media companies as a bad investment.

I think the way the consumer consumes gaming media, is changing. Especially with the younger audience.

Holy mother of Jehovah's witnesses, wasn't this the guy sexing up that Xbox near the time they were releasing or reviewing it?

Not only is Microsoft going out of the console business, but so is he?

This day, has been the day of days, boys. I haven't felt this warm in my tummy and hardness in my pants since high school. Bless you all, or whatever the saying is. Good day.

Edit: My apologies ladies and gentlemen, I should have went with firmness instead of hardness in my pants. I may be batting for the other team now, damn.

It went to shit when that horrible woman joined.
And well jeff = giant bomb and i love his new podcast.
After Ryan died it was still fine for some time.
It went to shit around 2018-2019. It's the reason I joined neogaf, because giantbomb banned me.. a premium user for almost 10 years.... because woke shit
