The Giant Bomb Quick Look Thread 2

Zombi U looked pretty awesome. If there were just a couple more compelling games like that for the Wii U. Wonderful 101, maybe?

I bet they make PlayStation All Stars - Crash edition as there complete edition next year.

Well unless the game under performs because of poor marketing and SCEA cuts the studios contract and funding like they have with every single 2nd party studio that released a game for them this year.

At least Seth Killian technically works for Sony Santa Monica and not Superbot so he is probably safe.

All stars look likes good chaotic fun if you have 4 people to it play with but that's about it. Such a weird game to be sonys big holiday game this year. Dont know why they didnt push GOW forward a few months when they saw there holiday lineup was going to be empty.

Wow, guess I'm lttp, but since when QLs are encoded at 60fps?

I think like a year? At least been some time.

Also I've given up on the giantbomb player, he hitman one is also out of sync with the html5 players which already isn't that great, the other ones won't allow me to skip in the video. Booh.

Oh Brad, you complain about PS All-Stars not having any bad guy characters less than 5 minutes after complaining Radec was in it.

He was talking about bad guys from more classic Playstation series.

Dollface from the latest Twisted Metal. She was a boss in the single player.

Yeah, that was weird none of them recognized it as I'm sure some of them have played that. Not to mention that bossfight has been demo'd at events as well.

Cole and Evil Cole is hilarious. And the inclusion of BioShock Infinite, DmC, and Metal Gear Rising stuff is just weird, considering that they're multiplatform games that aren't even out yet.

Aren't out and, if rumors are true, preform markedly better on 360.

They reached out to get whoever they could, but man, it's an odd roster.

Well, no, he wasn't. He said "Why not get some of the villains from some of the Playstation franchises?", nothing about 'classic' villains. Moments earlier he was bemoaning the inclusion of Radec, a villain from a Playstation franchise.

So, since the guys were talking about who should be in PlayStation All-stars, I figured I'd post a list of what I think should be in the game, in addition to what's there now. Honestly, I'd expect more than 20 characters...

The Prince from Katamari Damacy
Cloud from FF VII
Vivi from FF IX
Tidus from FFX
Wipeout stage
Clank, in addition to Ratchet
Daxter, in addition to Jak
Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil 2
Nemesis from Resident Evil 3
Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid
Tony Hawk from THPS
Lara Croft from Tomb Raider
Alucard from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Spyro from Spyro
Crash Bandicoot from Crash Bandicoot
Kevin motherfuckin' Butler
Raziel from Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2
Kain from Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain
Abe from Oddworld
Klonoa from the Klonoa
Gabriel Logan from Syphon Filter
Regina from Dino Crisis
Some golfer from Hot Shots
Lammy from Um Jammer Lammy
The Hero from Dragon Quest VIII
Claude from GTA III
Tommy Vercetti from GTA: Vice City
CJ from GTA: San Andreas
A Dragoon from Legend of Dragoon (never played it)
Taneo from Incredible Crisis
Ico from Ico
Wander from Shadow of the Colossus
James Sunderland from Silent Hill 2
Maximilion from Dark Cloud 2
Sora from Kingdom Hearts
Riku from Kingdom Hearts
Roxas from Kingdom Hearts 2
Jimmy Hopkins from Bully
Dude from Onimusha (never played it)
Maximo from Maximo
Rau from Mark of Kri
Kazuma Kiryu from Yakuza

That's all that I associate with PlayStation. If all, or even just a chunk, of these were in the game, then I'd have bought it day one.

Raiden and Dante just happen to be the newest versions of the characters. Both of which got their starts on the system. Bioshock you have a point tho.

But a lot of it seems like they didn't have much choice sadly.

There is always dlc

Yeah, it kind of comes off feeling like paid advertising more than them seeking the best characters for the game. "New" Dante made me feel that way especially.

bioshock especially, since it's a franchise that started as a xbox 360 exclusive for a year. I assume those third parties only jumped in to advertise upcoming games.

Sucks they couldn't get access to some characters that actually are memorable from the playstation's history. Resident evil started on the ps1, get someone from that franchise. Use the main characters from syphon filter and GTA 3. Raziel from Soul Reaver, crash, and spyro. Solid Snake instead of fucking Raiden.

I thought that was obvious from the context. Sure, Radec is a villain but he's not a character they care about.

Part of that roster seems more motivated by cross-promotion opportunities than anything else.

That said, the console doesn't have anything like this, so it's good that someone made this game to fill that void.

Same reason why there are no FF characters or why there's a Good Cole and an Evil Cole - Whoever holds the rights to Crash more then likely wouldn't let Sony use him.

What's wrong w/ having a good/evil cole?

I hope the same people think it's dumb to have Dr. Mario, Young Link, Falco, Pichu ect. ect. ect. At least the coles have different move sets.

DmC and metal gear makes sense because they are classically associated as PS franchises.

Yeah, but it's weird seeing those versions of those characters as representatives. It'd be like if Nintendo said, "Yeah, we're going to have classic characters from Mega Man and Castlevania in the next Smash Bros.!" and then they picked Proto Man and Gabriel Belmont.

Yeah, I was happy when Dr. Mario and Pichu got cut from Brawl because they were like the most useless and forgettable characters in Melee.

PS2 Dante and PS2 Snake would've made sense. Not multiplat reboot Dante and non-canon spinoff Metal Gear Rising Raiden.

The franchises make sense, the incarnations they chose for obvious marketing purposes don't.

What's the distinction between cross promotion and a character fitting naturally? Their IP still releasing games?

#notSoHiddenChanceToPromoteTheirUpcomingGames

Which Haunted already said. Oh well.

Can't be helped I guess. It is their latest incarnations.

As much as I like Jaffe, seeing the big doll robot from Twisted Metal just look comically inferior to the excellent art design of that Bioshock Infinite environment was sad.

Classic or iconic characters third party characters are a natural fit. Upcoming third party multiplat reincarnations of said characters... not so much. I think it's a fairly obvious observation to make.

For example, even though Bioshock is a fairly recent game, I've got no problem with a Big Daddy being there, he's iconic enough on his own. Radec and Fat Princess aren't classic or iconic, but they're part of the PS family, so they're also fine. Cole and Evil Cole taking two slots... no comment. >_>

I think everyone is just mad about Crash and Cloud missing.

Not to be really down on it, but Playstation Allstars looks preeeeeetty boring. I played a demo of it about two months ago, wasn't feeling it then, and I'm not really liking what I'm seeing now.

About 10 hours is what I've been told. But this person blew through the game. If you play it perfectly and carefully, it'll probably take longer.

Sessler's review said 20-30 hours depending on how fast you move through it.

Wait until FC3 reviews come in. Hitman is not Blood Money quality, except in graphics.

Thanks guys.

I was going to wait as see how Far Cry turns out anyway. Still working through AC3.

Just wanted to know if it was a 6 - 8 hour game. Never played a hitman game before so I dont know what to expect in terms of length.
