The Giant Bomb Quick Look Thread 2

NSMBU QL is a worthy follow up to NSMBW QL.

Oh man I was thinking about how boring NSMB was until I realized that the game had multiplayer. Stopping the Zombi U quick look for some GB shenanigans.

So, Zombie U's comparisons to Dark Souls are online features? Ah geez. That's certainly interesting though a touch misleading. I was expecting some really difficult, good old pattern based gameplay. Instead, it looks like Dead Island.

It features permadeath, a consistent world and retrieving resources from your corpse (now undead).

That said, you shouldn't play with mines Patrick hahahahaha.

There is a one and done mode too, you die game over son.

Watched about 15 minutes of NSMBU and a little more of Zombi U quick looks and had to stop because they were bad at them. Games look fun, but Zombi U looks like it would get repetitive quick.

Checking out Nintendo Land now.

man you don't get these videos do you

I don't find watching people who are really bad at a game all that entertaining, so I guess not. The NSMB games are frustrating enough to actually play co-op, but to compound that with crappy platformin' and rushing through levels without looking for secrets or doing anything interesting... not fun. Nintendo Land QL is good though.

yeah, nsmb u.

Ain't it great to have the whole GB cast having fun?

Except Brad, who always seems frustrated by the destructive/sloppy play of the rest of the crew.

Dark Souls heavily punishes death, but it's not permanent. Anyway, the features that are similar to DS are not gameplay related is what I am saying. From everyone saying, "it's like Dark Souls," I did not expect it to simply be minor reasons. They're cool concepts, just not what I expected.

One down, two to go.

Mario looks like stupid fun as the Wii one was in multiplayer. I'm done with 2D Mario, but looks highly competent. That vector plastic look is really ugly though.

On to ZombiU.

Mario QL was as great as expected. Really enjoyed the Mario Chase and Luigi's Mansion games they played for Nintendo Land, and it sold me on getting the game. I'll check the ZombiU one tomorrow.

NSMBU QL is fantastic, but because of the GB people and not really the game itself. It looks so similar to the other NSMB games.

ZombiU makes me want to go buy a WiiU, I'm actually looking at the ZombiU bundle right now and thinking about it.

Nintendoland looks like the most cynical Nintendo product I've ever seen. I guess I can see how it would be intended as an appetiser for full entries in these series, but it feels so fucking hollow that instead it turns into a mockery of their real games. The Zelda one just made me want to play a real Zelda and not this shit. It's like a version of Wii Play that no one asked for, because while Wii Play "explained" motion controls fairly well and offered something new by virtue of a new form of control, everyone already has experience with touchscreens and tablets so instead of it becoming something new and instructive, it's just this thing that banks on people's nostalgia and love for the real games in the series.

Yeah, that Zelda one looked really dull. It'd be nice if this was more piecemeal and I could just download the handful of ones that interest me for instant bootup whenever.
