My first post in this thread was

"I like Riddhe. He had cool suits."

Ugh...

Looking back, I complained about how the OP is such a mess, which it still is!

I'm fresh out of Q-Tips!

heh.

I cought a bug recently that could only be cured by watching some Tryon 3. Man it's such an awesome suit. Try might have been a disappointing follow up to Build Fighters but if there's one thing that redeems it it's the Tryon 3. Everything about it was so well done. Music, combination sequence, attacks, the works.
Minato was also a cool pilot and overall fun character. It's only held back by the lack of a worthy rival to clash with. Even the Gunpla Grand Prix champion didn't cut it!

Beth might not like it but then again she's probably just mad it outclasses the ZZ and the earlier attempt at a super robot inspired ZZ, the Try Zeta.

Oops, i meant the anime...

Ohhh~

In that case, that depends on what you're looking for. The most popular starts are either The Mobile Suit Gundam movie trilogy, Gundam Seed, or Gundam Wing.

Mobile Suit Gundam is what started it all and is followed up by several series and spin offs. It has the deepest mythos and is the fan favorite.

Gundam Seed came almost two decades later and brought it a lot of new fans. It was followed by Gundam Seed Destiny but that wasn't received as well by fans.

Gundam Wing is what introduced most western audiences to the series but I don't think it's looked back on as fondly now.

Yes! The last of my Christmas haul has arrived! This is going to be a good year for my Gundam collection:

I'll probably build them at 1 a month in this order:
Gerbera (Already built as seen in photo)
Gato's Gelgoog
Char's Zaku II
The Black Trinity Zaku II
GM Custom
GP03
and finally the White Ogre

Glad I'm not the only one who loves the Tryon 3. Never picked up the kit for this guy but wanted to in a larger scale if it ever gets made with "titanium finish." It's such a slap in the face to Gundam and presented as such but thats why its so awesome. Loved the attitude the maker had in the show when he used it too. One of the few bright spots in the otherwise kinda bland Try Fighters.

Nice haul looks like you will have a nice set of kits on your shelf this year.

Personally backed out of the MG Sniper this week. Could not settle on a way I would want to make it so either will try later or something further down the line.

good shit.

I'm in the process of catching up in Iron Blooded Orphans and just finished episode 38. Barbatos is just plain SAVAGE! I love it!

That string of episodes was hype as fuck.

Btw. Atra is best girl. I hated her at first, but now she's my favorite. I'm pulling hard for her.

Which version is it? The first one is kinda old and many kits from that era and even now) are somewhat loose if you don't use glue to tighten them.
It is a DM like this:

My DM Strike Freedom arrived:

It came with so many wing effects, plus a base and wing effects for Destiny. I can't wait till I can
put it in my backlog and never build it.

I'm half way through on that kit. Only need to build the legs and weapons.
Apart from the shoulders, so far so good.
I saw the comparison of the Daban one and wished i bought that instead. The gold color of the daban is much better looking.

Ok so the Barbatos lupus Rex is has a great design. Will wait for reviews before I go all in but I think I will pick it up. I don't think a mg is coming anytime soon

We are friends now.

I'm so happy there are so many places to buy gundam stuff nearby now. Before it was just Hobbytown USA and then the two Barnes and Noble, but now the Board game store in the mall, the comic book store in the other mall, and the main Comic Book Store all sell gunpla and Robot Spirit figures. It's almost overwheming.

bandai milking IBO with all these new lines (high resolution, full mech. etc.) then they will release MG p bandai and then RG with 10 p-bandai kit attachments.

$$$

What is the difference? All references to action base 2 I find look like the 1/144 stand.

1/100 action base 2.

action base 2 doesn't require screws, plus better adjustability.

so far the action base 2 only comes with kits/pbandai stuff though I haven't checked gundamplanet

Since I was sick today I decided to binge watch MS IGLOO.

The whole thing being in CG was an interesting experience. Mobile Suits in combat looked pretty decent but the characters themselves looked terrible, especially the facial expressions and mouth movements.

It was very interesting seeing the start of the invasion of earth. Would definitely like to see more of this (any other series that cover this specific part of the war?).
Wasn't a very big fan of how some of the Federation grunts were portrayed during the 603 arc though. They felt kind of comic book evil with them laughing at Zeon soldiers on open communication channels. I thought it was rather odd to see this in a Gundam series. When the Federation arc started I was expecting things to get switched around with the Feds being "the good guys" and Zeon being "the bad guys" but instead, it shows the human sides of both.

Also, I never realised just how unsubtle the link between Nazi's and Zeon is from an aesthetic viewpoint. I mean, Zeon's infantry is just carrying freaking Lugers and Sturmgewehr 44's. Zaku's are even equipped with oversized Panzerfausts!
(This probably isn't a surprise to anyone though :p)

My girlfriend offered to get me a kit for my birthday so I am attempting to decide between the Nu Ver Ka and the Hi-Nu Ver Ka. Which both look amazing.

I am a bit confused on Turn A and gundam wiki is not providing clear answers, but what is the Dianna Counter, I thought it was just another name for Dianna, but in episode 29 they use it so much, even more since its about the two Diannas's.

Dianna Counter is the Moonrace faction that openly rebels against Dianna's authority and wants to take over Earth by military force against her wishes.

I love that in its reveal only only kids were excited to see it and everyone else was left puzzled, lol.

Oh, I see. Then yeah having weak joints would make sense.

I love whoever wrote the Gundam Planet product description for the MG GM Sniper II.

I mean, it is one of the better GMs.

I don't like the Hi Nu. It's a downgrade

Yeah, it's devoid of personality. It's big and chunky and has 'wings' and a couple colors and... I can't think of anything interesting to say about it outside of that base description.

The Nu Gundam on the other handlooks like a personal mobile suit. It's asymmetrical, storing a bunch of presumably heavy equipment on one side of the MS. It has a single, high-powered blade (all an ace might really need) but another one hidden on an arm in case of emergency. Its color scheme and layout is very distinctive too.

I could look at parts of the Nu Gundam and understand why the designer did things the way they did it. The Hi-Nu Gundam just looks like any other 'grand' MS. 'Why are the funnels on wings?' I don't know. 'Why is it bigger than its supposedly inferior counterpart?' I don't know. The Sazabi can get away with being big part, indeed, because it's a bad guy suit, but also because it wields some pretty heavy weaponry and it has that chest cannon too.
