The Gundam |OT2| Another 5 years of Gunpla, Origins, and GUNDAMUUUU!

Kits these days do have English in the manual. I think for MGs the first one to do so was the Psycho Zaku Ver. Ka.

Fun fact, RGs have English now but unlike HGs and MGs, the technical info isn't translated.
I guess since I've been buying older new MG's I don't get the English instructions. I'm probably not getting that till I get the HGUC Zeta. I'm probably not getting anything from Thunderbolt.

they started adding english in the mg manuals before Psycho Zaku Ver.Ka. I am almost certain of this. but now I can't find a link to prove this.

I seriously need to check some of my mg kits. I swore one of them had english instructions. or maybe I am thinking of the R/G Sinanju.

Based on my first MG...I'm not touching RG. I guess after I get used to MG, but yikes. Thank god I got a model of a suit I didn't care about for my first MG.

We actually do already with some kits in South East Asia and have been doing it since 2014-2015. Specifically the Premium Bandai, Dengeki Hobby subscription kits, Hobby Japan subscription exclusives, etc. Translated into Thai, Traditional Chinese, and English for the market there in Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines, and the rest of South East Asia for customers who buy Bandai and not third parties.

Not every general release kit gets it, but more and more do over the past couple years for our newer products.

I'll probably eventually luck into a kit with English instructions, I'm only on like my fourth kit or something.

The English instructions are pretty neat. They helped allot when I was building my FM Barbatos Lupus Rex.

The RG booklets are pretty rad too though. I remember them most for employing these pink outlines to indicate where parts should connect. Usually the manuals by themselves are sufficient but every once in a while you've got go trial-and-error to figure something out, and the RG manuals mostly eliminate that.

Isn't that the last barbatos form? If so how was the builid?

Gouf is easier. But yea practice a lil but before you do any p-bandai kit.
I got most of it down well honestly, but when they threw some gimmicky, "WTF is this bullshit" piece it got...weird curse ridden and fucked. I'm actually going to assume I need a action base for my Rezel. I tried standing that thing up this morning with the backpack on and nope...that thing is weighed down by earths gravity.

Oh, the build is fine. A few loose armor pieces but most of them aren't as bad as some of the reviews I've read - They just need to be pushed hard into place.

What is a problem, and what I thought would be a problem but not this bad, is the weight issue of holding that gargantuan mace. Indeed, it's even worse for the BLR than for other MS because of the giant forearms. The model doesn't even pretend it can hold it, at least not one-handed. I packed it over the shoulder where... the balance becomes kinda delicate but it looks cool.

MG Rezel commander type with the backpack. I probably should have chosen something simpler for my first MG.

Ahh yeah transformable suits are a pain. Aegis MG made me stay away for a while but also made me realize how many transform. Always wanted the ReZel Type C, but the maybe bland colors and transforming made me hold off.

Maybe after the Patlabor and Infinite Justice, I will go for it.

I bought a GM Ground Type after not having put anything together for over a year the other day at a local shop and did a double take when I looked at the manual, like "uuuuh did I buy a bootleg?". I've been building gunpla since I was like 8. I'm 28 now.

And the craziest part is that P-Bandai kits have them too! The little insert now has all those paragraphs translated to English and as someone who's been doing this off and on for so long it's so weird! It was a nice way to step back into it though, that's for sure.

I use gundamkitscollection now too. They seem pretty reliable, and I like their layout too.

As for gundamguy, allegedly all the poor business practices I've heard of have caught up with them and they're embroiled in some legal troubles. Couldn't begin to cite a source on it though.

The color guides provided in gundam manuals, for what brand of paints are these for? And is there any easy way to figure out what colors of paint to buy when trying to match colors from different brands? Assume it's largely trial and error

I don't think they ever listed an official brand, but I would say the most likely as usual is Tamiya. They are simply "the" brand of modeling supplies in Japan, paint included. Different brands would definitely be trial and error.

GSI Creos, aka Mr Hobby/Mr Color make the markers and Gundam Color series of paints:

http://hlj.co.jp/search/go?w=ガンダムカラー

Bit hard to get outside of Japan though... If you are outside Japan and can't get Mr Color then you are kind of left to fend for yourself with whatever Tamiya, Vallejo, etc paints you can scrounge up to best match the color.

You guys see the new Gundam decals they are making? It's been a while since they made decals:

Ahh yeah forgot about the markers/color series. All the hobby shops in my town don't specialize in Gundam so they carry Tamiya supplies and paint. Their variety does seem to be massive.

Also Today is my birthday and I got a present... Actually 3 haha.

Dragon Momoko continues winning. After the MG Deathscythe Hell TV, they've now announced a Master Grade ZGMF-X12A, Testament Gundam!

https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunpla/comments/669tkf/dm_testament_thanks_for_that_guy_that_pmed_me/

A quick rundown on the background here - ZAFT built a bunch of Gundams off the tech stolen from the earth forces, not just the three we see in the show. In addition to X09A Justice, X10A Freedom, and X13A Providence are two p. cool machines inbetween - X11A Regenerate and X12A Testament. I've always been partial to Regenerate, and really you just have to google it to see the appeal - It's basically an alternate, possibly cooler version of the Aegis. Testament's very... outstanding though (the things its arms can do, man...). Fun fact for modders: The Testament should have a hard point on its back for striker packs. I'm interested in seeing if Dragon Momoko's version of the Testament will be at all compatible with their Strike's or Akatsuki's backpacks.

Then don't. DM's probably the most well-known third-party gunpla producer at this point (I don't know though, maybe it's just me). They're not up to Bandai's level - Bandai's the gold standard for plastic models - but everything I've heard tells me that their kits have been improving. Allot of the stuff they're tackling we never expect from Bandai too. There are some questions to be asked of companies like DM that operate in this gray area, yeah, but I can't stand offhanded, full dismissals of them.

They are not as good as Bandai, however just like with Transformers, if Bandai is not producing a certain Kit then I see nothing wrong with third parties picking up the slack.

Got DM's Destiny and Akatsuki and just today I finally pulled the trigger on the only good suit to ever come out of Seed and that is the Heine Destiny, can't wait to pose that bad girl on myself with Mizuho and Shizuru.

Yeah, man. My friend's wanted a Deathscythe Hell TV forever too, so I picked one up for him! Gonna surprise him 'cuz I don't think he knows about this. He doesn't follow gunpla news as closely as I do, and he's otherwise impossible to buy a gift for since he's usually super on top of his affairs. :3

Pending right now but I might pick up DM's Testament too. The preview pictures look p. cool though.

I was hoping they would do a full Altron Glory, its why so far I dont want any of the Altron's come out be it Bandai or Third part that badly.

Maybe one day we can get that and the Prometheus since we actually got it's line art.

Half the runners would be just for gun.

Hey if they go all out on the gun and detail it up while giving its modes and a detailed area for the nuke inside, I might be okay with that lol.

Seriously the Wing MG's have so little detail on the inner frame it would be nice to get something that was actually really detailed and something cool to show off when broken down.

Woot. Providence was a blast, I think you'll love it.

FOR THE LOVE OF ODIN DO NOT DETAIL ALL 11 DRAGOONS IN ONE SITTING YOU WILL GO INSANE.

Well, I guess someone had to do Testament. But watch Bandai announce a MG or RE/100 of it now just to kill the competition.

I'm still holding out hope that Regenerate will get some kind of kit. But considering the size it'll probably be an HG (but I'd kill for a RE/100).

For those that don't know Regenerate's in-universe height is about 5 meters shorter than the Psyco Gundam. So it's a big boy.

EDIT: Oh hey, here's a pic of the shitty old Alex mold HGUC Tristan, no stickers applied.

What the duck is that trash? Did we completely forget everything good about the all Gundam Project?

That looks bland as hell for a new HG release.

what? you got providence for your bday? awesome!
happy birthday =)

They literally reused the 13 year old Alex mold rather than do a brand new one. In some of the promo shots it's glaringly obvious.

Not only do I find it completely lazy (even IF Twilight Axis is just an ONA, that's no excuse as Stargazer kits got new molds), but it also kills any hope I had of an HGUC Alex Revive.
