The HD remaster of True Lies is streaming again in the US (on Hulu)

Cameron won’t get off his Pandoran ass to release the Blu-Ray, but the HD remaster of True Lies is streaming again in the US, this time one Hulu. It appears to be the same version that was streaming on HBO Max when it launched.

I still don't understand why so many James Cameron movies aren't on blu ray, the format has been around for 16 years!

How hard would it have been in all that time for Cameron to take some time out to oversee it?

But anyway, Jamie Lee Curtis in her lingerie in HD, mmmmm...

The only two that aren’t are Abyss and True Lies. The HD masters have been done for years, they just haven’t released the discs.

It's a rights issue. They are legally required to have Cameron to sign off on the transfer for home video for some of his movies. The problem is he can never be arsed to do it. Plus he seems to hate film grain now, so they might look like the T2 4k if we ever dp get them.

I still don’t understand how that face is attached to that insane body.
Probably among the biggest butter faces in hollywood.

Amazingly, she thinks she's good looking. I remember there was an article or video where she was talking about how good looking she thinks she is. This was years back when I think someone was asking her why she doesn't do surgery on her face like other celebs. And she answered something like she doesn't need to because she's already good looking. No joke, she was serious.

That part in True Lies where she and Arnold have that close up where they celebrate after they kill off Tia Carerre in the limo and land safely from the helicopter, she had the most disgusting face and smile ever in a close up.

One of the best Arnold movies. I have the unofficial Spanish Blu-Ray. Laws there allowed it to be released so its completely legal.

I have the Spanish Blu ray too. It's fantastic but there are about 6 scenes that need serious rework and that's why Cameron won't release it.

There's a scene near the beginning where a foreign city is part of a backdrop and it's painfully obvious in HD. That's a chunk of money.

Arnie's stunt double does almost every action scene. For real. It takes you out of the movie every time you see his face clearly. All the stuff near the start in the snow, all the cool stuff near the end when he's on the horse.

So that's money and a risk of being accused of George Lucas style tampering (justified though it may be).

He knows this and he'd have to put effort in to make sure it was done right.

It was a movie of its time and he cares more about the new stuff he's working on.

Get a copy of the Spanish version though. It's still cool once you can overlook those flaws (the group of terrorists are pre 911 and come off like a Leslie Nielson sketch too).

Shout out to "The Jackal", another lost gem. Watched it on blu ray last night and it still holds up.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.

The scans have been done, not this one that's on streaming but way superior new 4k scan, cleaned up and everything
The problem is Mr Cameron has to review it, and I don't mean just watch it and say okay.
He has to go through every scene with and colour grade correct the shit out the fucker until he is happy for it.
Which will take days and when he does finally do this... people will bitch because he fucked it up 🤣
But seriously that is the actual problem.

One of Arnies golden movies, heavily underrated (like Last Action Hero). Always a pleasure to watch it on a 90s revival evening, together with The Long Kiss Goodnight and Last Boyscout.

Another underrated Arnie flick is Jingle All The Way. End of Days was good too.

A few movies came afterwards and were total junk. That’s when career finally petered out. Do bad I don’t even remember the names but one of them was the one where there’s a clone of himself running around.

Actually I like this movie a lot. Not his best work but a solid sci fi movie. The 6th Day.

I loved this movie when it was released. But I haven't seen it in a long time.
This week might be a good time to fix that.

Awesome news! I was trying to show this movie to my GF a couple of weeks ago but couldn't find it on any streaming service/online store.

Honest question... Is T2 4K really as bad as they say it is?

Every trace of film grain has been scrubbed out since the transfer was originally made for the 3d conversion. Some people think they used the 3d master by mistake, but who knows.

That being said, for a scrubbed movie the detail is pretty good. I have the disc and its worth the $7 or so it usually costs. It's just a huge missed opportunity.
