The International 2016 (Aug 3rd - 13th)

Drow strats
BrokeBack.png

Pls become first phase ban

She's pretty much been banned most games, just occasionally teams think they can deal with it

First game of EG I've seen today, looks like they've improved quite a bit. With a slight change of draft, and Miracle not getting a timely DD rune, I think EG could have taken that.

Sumail's performance in that fight near the dire secret shop, the one where EG got all those kills but Drow had already pressed E so it was pointless, was INSANE.

The balls on miracle gusting and then blinking into the gust. Omg man fighting at 32 hp

(It's a fairly big buff, but to be honest she's been terrible ever since they did that one-two punch of removing what is now Break from Duel and fixing the bug on Mark of Courage so that you could only ever get one bonus attack from it)

Yep, that right there is when she went right into the dumpster. Removing 'break' really made her shit. I also think duel giving the enemy more damage is dumb, but that's just me.

If you are talking relative to what they were doing in starladder, I don't think that performance was really relevant to anything. I don't think anyone was expecting them to run Sumail Oracle and AA. I think they were just testing pocket strats there.

The worrying thing is that so far EG has looked like they lack confidence to just play like themselves. They are trying stuff we never see EG play like wisp and huskar and legion.

The EG who won last year was a confident team that you felt like they knew that if they just drafted better teamfight and late game, they would win. This year it feels like they think they have to gimmick themselves to a win.

OG are really confident in getting the upper bracket to be trying an anti drow strat in the group stages.

I expect drow to be banned for pretty much the rest of the tournament

Top 4 now more likely to be OG, LGD, EG and a toss up between [A], NaVi, Wings.

Wings vs NaVi and Alliance would be interesting now.

So I haven't played dota 2 in a long time and trying to get back into it. Can someone explain to me all this talk of drow ranger. Is she op now or something?

Yeah Drow is pretty much a top tier hero right now, some new items and meta changes have really benefited her. She's now viable in the late game as well, so there's no real risk to picking her anymore

Drow has Precision Aura which greatly increases the damage of every ranged hero on your team (and can be activated to work on creeps) as well as having a good knockback\AoE Silence and amazing Agility gain for great damage and armor. Last major content patch they added Dragon Lance which gives Drow an amazingly cost-effective item early that gives great stats and extra attack range, which is exactly where Drow struggled early. The patch originally favored tanky strength cores, but the problem with them was always they could be easily kited--which Drow is amazingly good at.

Teams are going to start banning Drow. They have to. Previously they had banned heroes like Void because they are hard to fight around, but Drow is now just consistently stomping people.

EG 4-2
OG 4-2
LGD 4-2
TNC 3-3
Wings 3-3
Alliance 3-3
Na'vi 2-4
Escape 1-5

Na'vi not in a great place unless they can 2-0 a couple of teams

I tend to remember Na'vi having awful day 1 performances over the last couple TI's.

2013 Day 1: 4-2
2014 Day 1: 3-1
2015 Day 1: 2-2

Not really what I would call a trend. Plus the ever-changing nature of the meta and the fact that every year they have had a slightly different team.

So next year they will have 1-5, and 0-6 at TI8, right?

Oh I agree, I'm saying Secret doesn't have either Oracle or Dazzle for Huskar. They have a Wisp, which isn't quite the same...

Wisp is good with anyone, and he gives Huskar increased mobility and attack speed. It's not as good for survivability, but much better for fighting.

EDIT: What in the hell is going on with DC vs. MVP???
