when does dominion iOS drop?
Oh dear.

It won't really be an iOS app like Ascension or Ticket to Ride, more of a wrapper for their Dominion online website.

They attempted to launch last week but it was a shambles. Look for stories about goko.com

when does dominion iOS drop?

Hahahahahahahhahahaha never.

Someone please explain all the wtf that happened, but long story shory, it missed 3 promised release dates without comment, then was released online with EXTREMELY bad security/programming/everything bad and got pulled again and went back into beta, never even hitting iOS. iOS wouldn't even get an app, but only a front-end for an online site.

when does dominion iOS drop?

Unknown.
The "app" was submitted for approval on the 14th...
But it is just a front end for the publisher's (Goko) HTML5 web app.

The game was supposed to be a multiplatform simultaneous release last week but was such a monumental piece of shit failure that it returned to Beta the same day it went live.

It would be in your own best interest to not harbor much hope for this thing.

Spell Sword is now free to play. Game any good?

It's...OK. It has a major problem that bugs me which is stuck achievements. They just did a big update that didn't resolve it either. For instance there is an achievement for getting to level 10, and an achievement for getting to level 30...the level 10 one never unlocked, but the level 30 one did. If you don't care about achievements-you might get more satisfaction out of it-but that's my biggest pet peeve...

I hope Rio Grande has some sort of escape clause from whatever deal they've signed with Goko, because a company like Playdek could surely do Dominion justice. That app would sell based on the developer alone, never mind Dominion's popularity as a board game.

rio grande ... and mayfair ... and fantasy flight :/

For the money you need to collect x gold nuggets or x diamonds (can't remember which one) to get 1 coin.
For the last two, use the items to collect the other materials, iron, steel and everything else till there is only dirt/grain

I think you get a coin from matching 10 rats or wolves also.

Is that Batman Arkham game any good? Going to the lake this weekend and want to have something fun to play.

Also what are you guys' favorite tower defense games?

Batman's decent, but unless you really...really...really love Batman, play infinity Blade II instead. Similar gameplay, but IB II is far and away the better game.

Currently enjoying Kingdom Rush & Defender Chronicles II

Oldies but goodies (and sitll on my devices): GeoDefense, GeoDefense Swarm, Defender Chronciles, The Creeps! & Fieldrunners.

Haven't snagged Field Runners 2 yet because I'm waitin' on the iPad release.

You guys might be talking about 2 different Batman games-there's the Arkham Lockdown one and then there's one based on the recent movie...

Eh, he asked about the Arkham one, not the Dark Knight Rises one....

Just beat Random Heroes by WobblyWare, the developers of League of Evil. I found it to be an extremely disappointing follow-up... especially now that I realize there's a free version online that actually allows you to start with a Random Heroe (hence the name) instead of making you earn it with coins like on iOS. I know its just a dollar but this is ridiculous as they went out of their way to add iap to a game they already basically had done as a non-iap based game.

Try it Online to probably save yourself a dollar
http://armorgames.com/play/12618/random-heroes

Yeah I was so disappointed in RH.

Warhammer Quest on iOS? That's really exciting. For those wondering what it is or what it will be like -- presuming it will stay true to tabletop, it's this. Don't want to get too hyped yet since it's still a ways off, but could be the start of some exciting things in terms of Games Workshop tabletops coming to mobile. In terms of lighter games along the lines of WHQ, would love to see stuff like Space Hulk and even a new version of Blood Bowl that actually makes an attempt to teach the game, unlike the Cyanide version.

I'd be SOOOOO pumped for a turn based Blood Bowl on iOS!!
I don't care if it has simplified graphics and an overhead view, it's all about the gameplay.

It would be awesome if you could play a-sync multiplayer with friends and randoms, plus be able to setup tournaments between a set of people with a set amount of time to complete matches.

Crossposting from the Fnal Fantasy thread in case anyone can help me. I was having so much fun with FFT as well...

So I just got to the second, infamous Weigraf fight in FFT and got my arse absolutely handed to me in short order. Those monsters and their attacks are insane, I have absolutely no defence against it, they one-hit my guys right away. Does anyone have any tips for this or do I just need to go grind for another few hours? I was totally over levelled for the fights before it too but that one is just...woah.

It's been forever since I've played FFT, but I think I ran away from him and kept casting Tailwind until my speed was ridiculously high, so you can just attack him over and over. If it's the fight I'm thinking of, at least.

What do the numbers on the rats and wolves mean when they show up on your field?

Edit: puzzlecraft

Number of turns until they eat one of your resources on the field.

Spellsword is very similar to Super Crate Box, except it isn't fun to play. I would recommend SCB over Spellsword, even with Spellsword being free.

I was playing Words With Friends earlier, and I got an offer to do a survey about how I play the game. LOL at some of the questions!

It's such a terrible fight. One of the only ones that's so unfair though.

I just did that fight a month or two back, and I already have forgotten what I did. FFT is so open with the jobs and abilities that strategy advice doesn't necessarily work so well anyways, though. I know I went back and grinded for a few days, but I can't remember my final setup. But really, the most important thing is to just grind a buy. Some sort of speed+ is useful, and I always go in with most everyone being able to revive (Throw Item set if using Item for this, so AoEs don't wreck you so fast). I avoid charge-up abilities/spells. I think I favored dragoon for jump (keeping distance and avoiding a lot of damage) and monk (revive, chakra, and the ranged abilities, not to mention monks do good damage, at least at that stage of the game).

My setup was probably dragoon, monk, monk, chemist, and white mage. Not that this setup is necessary to win, of course.

Autopotion + get rid of all your weakest potions. Trivializes the fight

Got sucked into puzzle craft and happy town too

GC:Manaxau if anyone wants to come visit my village!

Another game ive been enjoy is Bean's Quest its a pretty well put together platformer but has a whole lot of replay-ability and challenge as each level has 3 goals
Complete in a minimum number of bounces
Collect all the jems
Find the secret/hard to reach axolotl

controls pretty well you just touch left or right as the bean jumps on its own (mexican jumping bean)

Its really well put together :)

Can anyone please give me some tips for the very last level of Shellrazer? It's ridiculously difficult, I'm currently considering trying to get 4x level 4 stars (makes you temporarily invincible) along with the guys that heal/repair all of your weapons... no idea if it'd work though?

No advice but the game definitely looks cool, got anything to say about it? recommended purchase?

That's some good advice, cheers man. I hadn't thought of using a Dragoon, I think that's my most overlooked class. already got a couple of two hander monks in there too and a bitchin chemist and white/black mage too, a small tweak might get me in fighting shape.

I've got that on a bunch of chars but it doesn't always work, is there a % chance for this to trigger? I personally prefer the Critical HP gain power, it will completely fill HP when you go to a knee.

Chameleon robes for your entire party (they'll need them for the second part of that battle) + Tailwind + Focus. You'll have to use Tailwind quite a bit until you're getting about six or seven turns for every turn he gets. Then switch over to focus so you can take him out in a few turns. Keep your distance the entire time, of course. Dragoon is a good choice, but not necessary. The main ingredient is the robe, as it will prevent him from casting holy sword abilities.

I was a big Shellrazer fan. Last level is a bitch though. I had (all maxed out obviously) the machine gun on the bottom with infantry damage boosters, the ice gun in the middle with building damage boosters and the shotgun on top with air damage boosters. I had one finger constantly on the machine gun, and the other finger tapped between ice and shotgun. Good luck, you'll need it.

Just bought this thanks to you.

It's very very good so far. The music is effing fantastic! This is right up my alley!

I was playing PuzzleCraft until 4:00 AM last night... It's one of those games.

The IAP really don't bug you that much, good marks there.

Thanks Sean, I'll give that a try - I switched up to the improved machine gun, but it runs out of bullets so I may switch back for a continued steam of fire - I also had the mortar (I think?) to take out powerful ground units/buildings and the flak cannon for air units, but I think I need to really switch it up...

My idea of rushing the level was a truly terrible one by the way :D

Finished the Puzzle Craft campaign. Update mentioned in credits. What a great game.

Edit: I'm a huge Super Crate Box fan, even thought I could catch wario on the leaderboards once lol. Maybe I'll try spell sword since its free.

Sunshine looks like a great masochistic platformer adapted for touch controls, anyone playing it?

Oh wow, I didn't even know about this robe. Where can I get it from, is it in the outfitters? That would make the fight a lot easier, as it's the big spells in the second half that are wiping me out. I can kill Weigraf-the-man in two turns if I want to, he's not a challenge. But Weigraf the beast caves my head in in three turns!

If memory serves, I think you can buy it in Lesalia. If you're already doing that fight, it should be unlocked in the outfitter there.

So since my mother bought an iPhone I need stuff to play in multiplayer with my brother :lol

I only got Hero Academy so far and I'd like to keep it free or at least as cheap as possible. Help me out GAF.

Neuroshima Hex is fairly cheap and great.

Yep. :( This is a good summary of what happened with Dominion:

http://pockettactics.com/2012/08/18/dominion-online-makers-goko-un-launch-retreat-back-into-beta/

I've gone from super-excited (Dominion on iOS!) to hesitant (HTML5?) to pissed ($12 per expansion?!?), finally settling on indifferent (back to Ascension).

Good read. For those here that haven't discovered Pockettactics yet it's easily my favorite iOS site. Unfortunately it only focuses on strategy games but the writing is consistently pretty good and he has some great guest writers on occasion, including one of the x-com creators on his favorite iOS strategy games (it was Hunters I think).
