Fun TD game, very similar to The Creeps, but much easier and shorter. I prefer The Creeps and Kingdom Rush, but this is really good, and at an unbeatable price.

Infnity Blade series is on sale rght now.

Clearly we will get a Dungeons announcement tomorrow with a new iPhone demo.

I also suspect a Bad Pigs demo, seeing it's launch date is in exactly two weeks and will probably coincide with the release of the new iPhone.

As much as I'm ashamed to say this, but yes, there is. It's a freemium game with somewhat of a story, overall not that good but hey, it's very niche-y. Now if I rembered what it was called... Ah yes! "Stardom - the a-list" by Glu Games.

I am ashamed of myself now.

Well thanks for coming out of the shadows long enough to recommend.

Didn't the developer say that it would be around 1 gb? 5 installed can't be right. That's 10 gb free space needed for the install which would mean most people with 16 gb iPads wouldn't be able to even buy it. Aaand the original wasn't even that big installed iirc.

Edit: 3 gb installed, so 6 gb free I guess.

Ah my bad, needs 6gig to install and it's 3gig installed.

It's still fucking massive if you are working with 16gb and have Infinity Blade 1 or 2 and Puzzle Quest 2 etc... installed.

I guess they need all that speech in there.

I'm on a 3GS still. The wife got the last upgrade for the 4S and now it is my turn with the 5. We rotate every other upgrade instead of everyone getting a new phone at once. We also do this with the iPad.

That's smart, and makes the upgrade even more noticeable.

So I'm getting a New Ipad sometime near the end of this year, and I'm downloading some apps based on your reviews/impression.
But I have a question, will 32 Go be enough, I'm going to download tons of games and I'm thinking about getting the 64 Go one.

If you can afford 64GB, do not hesitate. Apps will only get bigger.

Since getting my iPad I find my self gamut a lot more on it than my iPhone. It's filling up fast though. I've had to delete stuff. The 64gb is probably the best option if you're serious about iPad gaming.

OK thanks for sharing.
And yeah, I'll download tons and tons of apps, and I don't like deleting games :p

I'm selling my unused iCade cabinet for $50 shipped in the buy/sell thread, figured people would be interested in it here. Just PM me if so.

So it seems BG:EE is going to be 5gig installed according to the TA thread...

Is it me or is that alienating most iPad users? That's about a 3rd of the space on a 16gig...

if you wanted to play games you never should have bought a 16 gb ipad,

I told people from day one of New iPad release "16 gb will never be enough, you will have to manage apps weekly". Yet some people are stupid enough to buy the cheapest one anyway (and lose more in time managing apps).

16-gigers would not probably have purchased games like BG anyway.

There's not really a lot of speech in the game, only select passages are narrated, plus the intros to the chapters and of course the party banter. Most of the size comes from the hundreds of backgrounds I believe, and it's around 3GB on the original 1999 install anyway, so with the extra content from this version and support for 2048x1536, it's nice that it's still able to fit in at the same size.

I don't think you need 6GB to install it either, it's the packaged size + the installed sized. Apps can't be over 2GB afaik, so it's most likely 5GB to install (2GB downloaded + 3GB installed/unpacked).

Yeah with game sizes increasing each day a 16GB doesn't cut it unless you want to constantly be cleaning out the fridge.

I went all the way to 64. I figure if I'm spending an extra 100 dollars on only 16GB more memory, why not spend another 100 for 32 more!

I'm hopeful that we'll get a memory bump in a year or two where 32 is the base and we get up to 128GB for the $699 model.

the bigger issue, is bigger the game, more odds of bugs and what not.

updating is terrible.

Instead of your typical console/pc game patch of a few mb to maybe a few 100mb, you have to dl the entire game again, so you need another 5gb of space free.

True, what is up with that? Why does Apple have such an archaic system to updating games? Everything else is pretty slick on ipad, but I can't figure out why they can't figure out how to download patches separately from the main game.

Can it drag move? If you have been using it with blutrol.
So far only one I know it can do drag move by physical accessor is fling but it isn't bluetooth controller.

I might be wrong. I suspect Apple doing that because they can keep charge bandwidth to developers higher as possible.

Well, delete those cruddy games and you're good to go!

16 is fine. I just don't download garbage in the first place and I delete games once beaten.

Oh man, that Angel Salvation game just took my whole night away. Ran the iPad battery dry, now playing on iPhone. Stupid no iCloud saving means two separate groups of heroes but I love the core game. It needs a better tutorial though.

Garbage game. Super crappy iAPs.

The percentage Apple claims is not affected by bandwidth. So you are wrong.

Apple clearly has an interest in reducing bandwidth used by app updates, but the fact that it's not implemented in the form of delta updates yet implies that there is some sort of challenge associated with it that they haven't overcome so far.

You can sort of guess what that challenge might be. I suppose it greatly complicates the approval process (currently, most approvals really only can be the result of an automated process for obvious reasons), and puts the onus on them to either implement the delta patch generation in Xcode, or embed it in their webapp in some way, and also means that the amount of delta patches per app is proportional to versions of individual apps out there, and makes it necessary to implement the delta patch application process in iOS, and introduces new security challenges, and still makes it necessary to provide full updates for older iOS versions meaning the big downloads don't go away completely, and introduces new backend features in iTunes, and other shit I can't come up with right now.

Don't forget what kind of numbers they have to deal with. That's probably what makes it so hard to test in the first place.

Have a feeling we'll see an Infinity Blade Dungeons demo + release tomorrow during the event.

Edit: Fieldrunners 2 HD coming tomorrow with 5 new towers + possibly more exclusives.

I've been playing this on my Nexus 7 and it's a little disappointing. You run out of balls fast, and it regenerates 1 per minute when playing and 1 every 15min when not playing (You can drop 4 at a time). It's all built around guiding you to the IAPs to continue playing or downloading sponsor apps for more balls. Also pretty ugly with weird frame rate glitches, but those could be Android exclusives :P

Yeah, I can see how that would be a bummer. But I usually don't drop 4 balls unless my score is really low, otherwise I'm dropping one or two at a time to take out specific pegs/prizes. I can usually get about 20-30 minutes of play time out of it playing this way which is pretty good for me. I like to play games like this in short bursts so when I run out of balls, I take it as the game's way of saying "Okay, go take a break now!". lol

I'll give it another shot with your method, heh.

Fieldrunners 2 HD tomorrow, sweet. Not universal :(

Uh, so following Wario's post I downloaded Run Roo Run (the free ipad version, not the special ipad version not free), and after some time with it I finished 5 chapters with gold stars and the specials... And no achievements. Zip. Nada.
So I'm not a trophy whore but there is evidently something going very wrong, and... errhhh... help please ! :-S

Middle Manager of Justice needs to rerelease already. I'm wanting to play it. I've heard that its like Game Dev Story, and I play that game a lot.

Wild Blood looks stunning. Very impressive.

So far Infinity Blade 2, Wild Blood and Horn are the best looking 3D games on iOS.

That changes tomorrow though.

Feeling pretty confident about this, eh? I'll say that there is a higher chance you are correct than not.

The hundred quid I saved is more than worth the few seconds it takes for me to think "I've finished that, I shall delete it"
