Got a new Iphone 4s. Considering I was using a flip phone this year its quite the improvement haha.

Loaded up a $15 itunes gift card.

My question: Infinity Blade 1 or 2? I want to be able to follow the story etc.

Any other game suggestions, I'm all ears!
I don't think there was much of a story in the first game, whatever there was you could probably summarize in a single sentence. You play through the game over and over until you are able to beat the last boss, and rather than having lives the idea is that whenever you die you start again as a descendant of the deceased character out for vengeance, so there's sort of a story but as far as plot goes I doubt you're going to miss much by skipping to 2.

Having never played it I'd be pretty shocked if the plot of 2 is worth worrying about it anyway.

This may not be the right thread to ask this, but can djay interact with tracks I've downloaded from Spotify? I'd really love to have it to mess around with and its on sale for $5 right now but I never have music on my iPad and I'm not going to buy tracks from iTunes just for that.

Literally?

Sorry I can't understand.
(English is not my primary language...have I made some mistake?)

Great presentation, dull gameplay. Very much on the style over substance side. :/

Well...maybe I was just prepared or maybe it is just what I was looking for, but I do not find dull at all.
It's simple and effective, and I find it great fun, especially the bosses.
Maybe I just suck, but I even died and I can't survive more than few waves on Eternal mode.
I'm liking it a lot more than every runner I tried.
More than Infinite Warrior too (a game that I like and that after the last update became MUCH more enjoyable).
Not considering the really awesome presentation of the game, when it clicks it became like a dance with swords.
I can understand people who do not like it but I find it very fun and not dull at all, even not considering it's like if many parts of my youth were condensed in a game.

Alright. I have not seen this game mentioned here. War of Words:Apocalypse .Think scrabble/words with friends, but on steroids . Crazy multipliers that can be placed where you see fit, offensive weapons, defensive weapons, up to 4 players etc... Good stuff. Free to try , $2.99 disables ads. I am having a blast with this. It gets pretty crazy and words can score thousands of points if you play your tiles right.

Check it out

Are the batman games any good? Right now both are on sale but I remember hearing one of them was really bad, but dont remeber which

Depends on who you listen to, I suppose. I don't think either of the games are bad. Perspective is everything, and on iOS, they're both fun games, for a while anyway. The first one is an Infinity Blade clone, but it has some cool unlockables. The second is a mash-up of the Arkham games and GTA. It's decent, more of a guilty pleasure than anything else, but for an iOS game, it's absolutely worth a buck.

Bad Piggies is better than I thought it would be (I was never a big Angry Birds fan, but was convinced to try this). I had fun building "vehicles" to pilot to the finish.

The physics are a bit unpredictable. Which goes to why I'm usually not a big fan of physics based puzzlers. For example, level 1-7 I was trying to get the third star by only using gravity, yet I had to hit restart 5 times for my plan to work (it played out differently each time despite me doing nothing different).

Just like Rayman Jungle Run!

Nah. I'm not even that much in love with Rayman's presentation. It's all about the gameplay to me in this case. Challenging and with great level design.

Though to be fair, while I think the game is good, it's hardly the best iOS platformer.

Well, this might be controversial, but I like League of Evil, Impossible Game, Mikey Shorts and Wind-up Knight better. Wind-up Knight is similar to Rayman, but more challenging and with more content.

Impossible Game is a fair shout, because that's tremendous. The other games are decent enough but would be substantially better on anything other than the iPhone, whereas Rayman is obviously a better game for being designed with the hardware in mind. They can't really compete, however good they could have been. Like, the idea of League of Evil is better than actually trying to play it, which is far less fun than it should be.

But, ya know, opinions are like arseholes, etc.

I see why that would be a problem to people who don't gel with on screen controls. I'm not one of those people though. :p

Being designed with the hardware in mind is no doubt very important, but in no way decisive to establish the better game. To me at least.

Bad Piggies is pretty great, I'm liking it more than Angry Birds. The pigs crack me up and the vehicle building mechanic actually works really well.

Exactly, and your opinion smells :P LoE 2 is one of the finest platformers I've ever played on any system, it's pure speedrunning bliss with pixel perfect controls and a lovely visual style.

I like Rayman but it relies far too heavily on trial and error to be super effective. I'm only on the second world and I'm having fun with it but it really tests my patience. Those vines you run on (especially on 1-10) drive me mad, they're so imprecise. It is very very pretty though.

It's not really that I don't gel with them, just that I want to play games in their best possible form.

Any game on iOS, the question I ask myself is "would this game be better with a controller?" and in all three of those cases it's impossible to say that the touch-screen controls make for a better game. The controls are competent and functional and it's perfectly possible to enjoy the games, but the games are not the best they could be and so it always leaves a bad taste. I enjoy LoE, but I could be enjoying it far more.

Even you who is fine with on-screen controls would have to admit you'd probably enjoy the game more with a controller, I would guess, even though you can enjoy it without one.

I agree with your premise (every game with virtual buttons would be better with an actual controller) but I reject your conclusion (therefore Rayman is better because it has no virtual controller).

You run into this problem with every platform. Playing a FPS with mouse and keyboard is far better than with dual stick controls. Does that mean every PC FPS is better than every console FPS? Of course not.

Actually, I'd say that something like League of Evil is only popular because it's on the iPhone. For a touchscreen plattformer it controls surprisingly well, so that people somehow tend to overlook that its level design is repetetive and boring. After the third level you've seen every gameplay idea the game has to offer.

If it was on the same plattform as, say, Meatboy no one would give it a second look.

My wife will be receiving an ipad through work so I am elated that I will finally get to play baldurs gate but when is it out?

November.

And make sure that you've plenty of available space on the iPad. Word is that it's going to be 3GB in size -- this means that you need about 6GB available in order to download and install it.

See, I actually think that is quite different as FPS games DO actually play well with a gamepad. There are certain actions (such as aiming) that are better with a mouse, but there are benefits in favor of the gamepad as well (analog movement).

Both of them are infinitely superior to using a touchscreen for an FPS game.

Oh c'mon. Analog movement is pretty much useless for 99% of FPS games.

And I didn't say anything about FPS on touchscreens. That's besides my point.

It's also irrelevant that one think FPS games plays well on consoles because toythatkills premise was not that he can't play well with on screen controls, but that a game has to be enjoyed in it's best possible form, and that form for FPS games is mouse and keyboard. However, that doesn't mean a PC FPS is necessarily better than a console FPS because of that, therefore his conclusion doesn't stand.

There's a lite version.
Seems pretty decent, if not quite worth all that hullabaloo.

Guess that lite version is iPad only, tho.

Just saw a gameplay video. Wow, looks really good! Can't download right now as I'm out space (yeah), but it's going to my list.

What's the difference between the Universal and HD version? Weird that those are the two options instead of an iPhone version and a HD version that's Universal.

I'm liking bad piggies and can usually get two out of the three stars, however I'm finding it very hard to beat all the time challenge stuff

Well, here's what the dev says ...

The main differences are in graphics (let's say textures) quality and iPad 3 retina display support. HD version is worth to try if you have iPad 2 or iPad 3. The universal app in its turn allows you to play this game with the best quality for iPhone/iPod while still preserves the ability to play the same game on you iPad but without HD graphics support.

Controls seem pretty tight.

Some folks will prolly really really dig it.
There's just so many of these type of games out there it just doesn't really excite me much.

Apparently a Universal Lite version is on the way.

I'm confused by the versions offered for Who Stole My Panties. There is a universal one and an HD one. Which are you supposed to get if you want HD versions that will play on both iPhone and iPad?

The HD version is iPad only so if you want to play on iPhone you need to get the Universal.

I forgot how good SF Volt is. Started playing again. Only problem is my achievements aren't showing on Game Center. Anyone run into this?

My favorite shooter of the bunch is Bug Princess 2. Black Label is probably a better game, but I can't hardly tell the difference most of the time, and the "upgrade" doesn't seem to justify double the cost.

Definitely not justified if you're not a big shmup/Cave fan. If you are, you realize they're totally different games :P
