Im really liking Cordy Sky. Its a pinbally vertical platformer/endless runner, with five different stages. Looks pretty nice on new ipad. And its free!

Has anyone tried Food Fight? It doesn't seem to have gotten any attention but seems like a pretty fun high-polish light card game. Really like the art.

The game is great, but it's only worth playing if both people are online and playing their turns quickly after each other, the beginning stage of the game usually has people picking one card for their hand at a time and it takes an intolerably long time to even start playing. Then you only get to play one card per turn so the matches can drag on too. The game itself is solid, it just depends on who you're playing against. Ascension is better because you can do more while it's your turn.

The app itself is pretty awesome (I love the art, there's a fair amount of single player content, and it's got all the multiplayer stuff that Ascension has). The actual gameplay is really boring though and not all that suited to asynch play imo.

It's glorified War with nice art.

The devs are awesome though, bring on Nightfall!

Was going to post this. It's not really fit to play asynch, which is how I prefer to play. Live it might be ok multiplayer. But, I bought it day 1, nobody else bought it, i played one bad asynch experience and ended up quitting because the game was so slow and it takes too long to load --- so I just deleted it.

Im surprised by how good Reckless Racing 2 is. Im actually enjoying it more than Motorstorm RC which I recently got on the PS3.

Bard's Tale is great. If I knew this back in the PS2 days I would've played the game already.

Best RPG on the AppStore. Not that the bar is very high, but still. It's a steal for $2. Already spent more time with it than with Chaos Rings 2, which costs 10 times more.

You also get the original and Bards Tale 2. If you like he old style, try Silversword.

Can anyone recommend a good breakout-style game to play on iPad? Price doesn't matter. Thanks GAF!

I'd like to find one too ...

So far best I've found is Anodia and Jet Ball

Circuloid is pretty cool too and somewhat harder than your average brick breaker

Pretty sure they all have free/lite versions

Are there some good History/Medieval-related boardgames or turn-based strategy games out there? Not battles, more like diplomacy? I'm thinking Europa Universalis-ish. Aything? Board-games with that setting would work perfectly fine too :x

I would like to see more games like that on iOS as well. King of Dragon Pass is not exactly what you're looking for, but it might be worth checking out anyways:

Then there's the Koei games Romance of the Three Kingdoms 1+2 and Nobunaga's Ambition, but I suspect they are more focused on battles and not diplomacy, though I haven't played them. They're also quite expensive, but the first Romance game is on sale at the moment.

Civilization Revolution has a little diplomacy(and a lotta battles), but you probably already knew about that.

Carcassonne maybe? A stretch I know..

MDavis360 posted some codes for W.E.L.D.E.R. from Starbucks' App Pick of the Week a number of pages back. If it weren't his post, I would have never known Starbucks had these. I knew Starbucks had free songs and I didn't care too much for them so I never bothered to ask or actively look in my local Starbucks for anything else other than buying my drink and then leaving.

I grabbed a few of these cards. If you want a code, PM me. For those that have access to Starbucks, please be fair and let someone else grab 'em. You can request one or all three if they're available.

Update - list of what's available:
4x Snapseed
2x PBS Kids WordGirl: Thorn in the Sidekick/Crime Takes a Holiday (TV episode, Vol.2 Ep. 5)
No more W.E.L.D.E.R.

Really diggin' Rune Raiders. Only thing it really needs is loot. But I always love seeing these news takes on RPGs, especially the quick-fix kind.

What's the vercit on Sid Meier's Pirates! on the iPad? I know it's cheap, but is it better than the psp version or whatever other versions there are, considering how much cheaper it is, and also... how good is it?

Kings of Dragons Pass is more fantasy than history though :/ and I already own Civ, that's the game most like what I'm looking for I think... Like I said, Europa Universalis or Hearts of Iron in mind, or even the campaign part of the Total War series (i'm so looking forward to that port, is there any news?)

Just looked at the Koei games, they look interesting! I'd definitely get them if it weren't for the OMGWAT pricetag :/

Edit: total war is coming April 19th, but seems to be mostly about battles and less campaign too, dang. LOVED the campagin in empire, exactly what I'm looking for :x

Hmmm, I might have to jump on this, it looks great, and the Wired review makes it sound pretty decent.

Check my last post Astro! Are Forbidden Island and Ghost Stories worth grabbing?

Ghose Stories is awesome. Spent like three hours playing it last night it was ridiculous. Like I said before might help that I already knew how to play the app is pretty good about documentation but it's not quite handholdy. But in terms of gameplay it's fantastic so long as you are cool with soloing a co-op game (which I am) it's not async or anything (though you could play local with others though I wouldn't since I have the tabletop). On that same night, I should mention Elder Sign: Omens. Yahtzee-like co-op with Arkham theme. FI I have and have heard good things about the app but haven't played yet. Board game is solid basically a gateway simpler version of Pandemic.

Anyone have Shogun (the shmup from Int13) on the new iPad? Locks up every time I try to play it and I haven't heard anything from the dev or forums. Tried reinstalling and everything else. Guess I can hope for fix. It's a fine game.

I usually find board games boring, but this caught my eye before, does it feel role playish, more involving than moving pawns and managing resources, that may as well be nondescript? Worth the price? What does the iap do?

No it's definitely just moving pawns, rolling dice, and managing resources. Still fun, but there aren't a lot of ameritrashy theme-heavy games like you describe on iOS. I guess Small World is probably closest and even that doesn't have leveling and stuff.

Now if we're talking about quality board games that are almost always better then the iOS flavor of the day there are tons of those. : D

Just got Cubemen.

Only played a few mins but so far it's great. Awesome graphics and seems pretty fun! Plus multiplayer!

Edit: just finished my first match and yea it's pretty sweet! Really nicely made and feels like a full on game. Not your usual 5 min arcade game. Even better with a friend

Game out on a Friday night

Based on a popular IP

By someone I don't recognize

Questionable screenshots

Yup, smells like a scam app.

Also made this: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pokemon-jump-for-ipad/id508408785?mt=8

Apple should ban that kind of developer from the store.

Even if they take out the application after people (or copyright holders) complains, he already made his money during those days that the game was on the store.

If they were banned and then forced to create another dev account and pay another 100$ to upload apps, we probably will save most of those scam apps.

Maybe Egypt: Engineering an Empire? http://www.slitherine.com/games/EEaE_ipad

I only know of it because it's Slitherine, no idea if it's good or it's what you're looking for at all (no iPad)

Of course, there's also CivRev.

its not that they don't want to, but how they police it... there's so many scam apps in the app store that perhaps they think its easier to just feature the most important apps and let all other apps die... there's too many brands, trademarks, celebrities worldwide to police it.

I know this has been asked just recently, but I can't seem to find it...

Caylus, perhaps. Regardless if it meets all of your needs it's a fantastic game in its own right.

Have it already, and it's fun, although not at all what I'm looking for :D Also, I only have a 4S, so ipad-only games are unfortunately a no-go (such as egypt)

Still, is too easy to get some cocos2d based sample code, replace the assets, add some fake screenshots of the game, sell the game during a few days and get much more money than working honestly.

I could understand this if this was a market like android, where there is almost no regulation. But in iPhone there are very strict regulations of what you can or can't do or show.

If apple don't want to (or can't) control the trademark of any asset on the game, even the obvious ones, they should force to make the screenshots of the app description to be faithful representations of the content of the game. Al least people would see that a doodle jump application with the main character replaced for a pikachu sprite is a doodle jump application with the main character replaced for a pikachu sprite.
