Wha??? How about swipe and relative touch? Or are you stuck with a virtual d-pad like Metal Slug 3?

It has swipey relative touch for directions with on-screen 'A' and 'B' buttons. No virtual d-pad tomfoolery (unless you turn it on in the options). The buttons can't be resized as far as I can tell, but you can move them.

for veterans of Squids...I only have 2 Achievements left and I'm hoping for some advice on where to get these-

1. "Seafood Porridge" Hit 6 enemies in one stomp attack
2. "Kung Fu Squid" Give a 5 combo melee hit

I can't seem to find enemies that will let me get these....especially the first one...

The swipe controls in blazing star is not very good. Too slow, I have to swipe two thirds of the screen to move from top to bottom. Probably works better on iPhone...

Edit: without some sort of auto shoot it might actually be worse on iPhone.

Wife just texted me at work that both our iPad 3's came in the mail. Can't wait to try me some Infinity Blade!

Out of all the acclaimed iOS games I've played so far, Infinity Blade is the most underwhelming. I bought both the first one since it was 99 cents and the sequel since it's supposed to be an improvement. The visuals are stunning for a mobile game, but I don't really see much to like about the games beyond that. The Simon Says-esque combat is too simple to hold my interest for very long, and since there isn't much to the games outside of combat, I find myself getting bored and exiting out after just 2 or 3 fights. Maybe it gets better as you go on...but what I've played so far isn't very good. I already have like, 15-20 games on my phone I'd rather spend my time with.

thats neat that Manos has made it to iOS.

Now we need to get Konami working on porting over Goonies I/II !! I played the shit out of GooniesII for the NES back in the day, id love to be able to get lost in their confusing world all over again.

Pretty much the same.

Ok. Was trying to get a gage on how a rumored iPod touch with the A5 would handle games if it had the same chip and ram as the 4S (according to macrumors).

Get infinity blade 2. It looks (and runs) incredible on the 3rd gen iPad. Much more variety too in terms of exploration.

I guess it's official now: PopCap is bringing Solitaire Blitz to mobile devices and tablets. Free to play. No release date announced yet.

Solitaire Blitz will be fully optimized for mobile. Fully optimized people! The smartphone and tablet iteration of this deck-clearing phenomenon will feature seamless connection to Facebook to populate your friends’ leaderboards in weekly tournaments and will also add new features like support for mobile-specific leaderboards and exclusive mobile achievements, including new card decks. I’m not exactly sure what that last sentence means, except one thing: awesome.

http://blog.popcap.com/2012/07/26/two-big-giant-announcements-that-will-change-your-life/

I don't play Facebook games, but it's PopCap so I'll definitely check it out.

I've just picked up an iPad as well, which apps you would recommend?

Draw Something is Starbuck's Pick of the Week, for anyone that hasn't gotten onto the gravy train that sailed off a long time ago.

This is why Infinity Blade has had so much of my iOS time. Being new to the platform, and completely overwhelmed by all of its offerings, I've been sticking to the few titles I have purchased and only moving on after I've gotten to play quite a bit of them. Infinity Blade's fun, to me, comes in leveling up and acquiring gear. Though you do bring up a lot of valid complaints. I'm curious what Dungeons is going to bring to the table, gameplay-wise.

Do you have to go to Starbucks to get one of these? I'll feel like a cheap ass if I just go in asking for the free app card.

Yeah, the redemption cards are only in the store. They're normally placed where you don't need to interact with anyone, so you can just bail out immediately after snagging one. And, if all else fails, just throw on your best "where am I?!" look and slowly shuffle out the door.

I have a friend who's looking for games like Draw Something and Wordfeud. Just simple casual games that you can play with others and don't require more than a few minutes per turn. One requirement: the games have to be cross compatible with Android, so you can play users on that platform. Any recommendations?

Wario64

works for Gamestop (lol)
Isn't there a free Draw Something anyway?

I know there's probably adverts but seriously, why make the effort?

To make money? Kind of a dumb question

Unless you mean why get free codes for it...I guess they really like it but dont want to spend the dollar for ad-free?

Yeah, I meant this. People are only going to be playing it a day before they realise no one wants to play because they've all already moved on, so it seems pointless trying to ninja a code out of Starbucks while nobody's looking when you could just... download it.

If you don't have the Steam version, grab Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP. Fantastic game. Also, Hero Academy, Bike Baron, Monsters Ate My Condo, Scribblenauts, and Dead Trigger.

Ahahahahaha I'll try that, thanks xD

Just spent half an hour with Blazing Star on my co-worker's iPad. Great port! Even has 50% and 100% scanline options.

The touch isn't "1:1". SNK kept speed attributes in for each ship, so you can't just zoom around as fast as you can swipe your finger. The faster ships are pretty close to 1:1, but the slower ships are more like dragging something around on a tether. It's not as bad as it sounds. It reminds me of"Assault Squadron", also on iOS, in that respect.

At 2.99, it's a fantastic deal.

I thought I was spending a lot of money on iPhone games but I got my $100 back to school Apple card on July 7th and I still have $88 left. That's the beauty of 1 and 2$ games I guess

Will IAP purchases deduct from itunes credit?

Ive got 3000+ points on FreeMyApps on both my iPhone and iPad and was about to cash them in for 2 $10 itunes cards.

If I purchase the rest of the Walking Dead episode will it deduct from my credit or charge my credit card?

It will use the credit first.

I've got 5 codes for 'Where's My Water?' and 7 codes for 'Draw Something', both for the App Store.

PM me with your choice and I'll send you a code later.

anyone try Spy vs Spy yet?

Probably just a perception issue (I only notice when it happens), but it feels like all my posts get ignored. I post (admittedly brief) about Spy V Spy, then not long after "anyone played?". Even a few posts above that. So, yes, "someone played".

Bah, I'm just grumpy they already dropped their price. I mean, it was like one day?

I bought it at $1.99 when it said launch sale already, and now it's 99c.

Geez, it really does happen quick now. I wonder if it's a reaction to the bad controls comments it has been getting.

I found teh tutorial fine though, if you consider the controls a bit more of slow swiping as opposed to a d-pad. You can't go diagonal.

It's a fast moving thread. Don't sweat it-everybody gets ignored sometimes.
