Probably just a perception issue (I only notice when it happens), but it feels like all my posts get ignored. I post (admittedly brief) about Spy V Spy, then not long after "anyone played?". Even a few posts above that. So, yes, "someone played".

Bah, I'm just grumpy they already dropped their price. I mean, it was like one day?

I bought it at $1.99 when it said launch sale already, and now it's 99c.

Geez, it really does happen quick now. I wonder if it's a reaction to the bad controls comments it has been getting.

I found teh tutorial fine though, if you consider the controls a bit more of slow swiping as opposed to a d-pad. You can't go diagonal.

the price was a fuck up.
their (purported) intent was to launch at $0.99.

one of the devs posted this on TA :
Hey - for these feeling schemed at the price drop - sorry you guys feel that way, not our intention at all. The game went live at 12am - and as soon as our marketing guys got up, they put the launch price on. I do hope you find the game worth 1.99 as that will be the normal non sale price - and I can tell you that the game cost quite a bit to make, and we poured our hearts and souls into it.
I would also note - its a universal app - a lot of folks complain about companies selling an HD version that cost more for the iPad - we did not do that because we wanted folks to purchase once an run on whatever device. In any event - I truly hope you realize we are not trying to scheme anyone - just some folks who remade a game we loved from the past - and one that we hope we can at least recoup our costs on.

Bar Oasis 2 is set to come out tomorrow (pending the approval process).

It's the sequel to Bar Oasis 1, and 1.5 which are visual novel type games where you play a bartender, new to the job. You get to know customers and learn to mix drinks (through "Drinking Mama" type mini-games), and it has some really fantastic music with it too. The art is also quite nice. In terms of atmosphere it reminds me a whole lot of the feeling of DS adventure games, just in tone.

Check this art from 1, and 1.5:

They're really fun games, and not enough people have checked them out.

Drinking Mama + Phoenix Wright without the puzzles.

Yeah, so they say.

I don't mind $1.99. And I'm not a whiner of getting ripped off after sales general
Y, but the description DID say half price, yet I was charged full price. I just assumed that the full price was $3.99.

No big deal, just slightly miffed. The dev is going to get a chewing out from the toucharcaders, no doubt. Gotta be very careful in this iOS stuff, it's serious business.

Whoa, had no idea Bar Oasis 2 was coming out this soon. I haven't even gotten around to the first one yet. Better get on that.

I would usually play a chapter or two each night before going to sleep. Keeps the bartending stuff from getting monotonous.

Also Bar Oasis 2 will be 2.99 and the soundtrack for that should be out tomorrow as well.

Hey so if you like shmups, Blazing Star is an amazing port.

You can disable filtering which I love (I wish Cave offered this) and the game looks sick on iPad or iPhone.

Because it's a horizontal shooter, I kindof prefer the smaller iPhone screen. You tend to work harder on the larger iPad screen since tou are covering more ground. But that's just personal opinion.

If you dig this game on Neo Geo it's a no-brainer. Price is right too imho.

Catapult King is the new app of the week. Is it any good? Like the previous apps of the week, it has paid DLC or depleting items (pay to get more). For example, Cut the Rope Experiments now has depleting 'Superpowers' needed to get a fourth star on each level. It is not possible to earn the 'Superpowers' through playing, nor is it a one-time payment; costly to people who want to complete every level fully! Is Catapult King similar in this regard?

Kingdom Rush...if you like tower defense.

Seconded and thirded. Easily one of my favorite iOS games to date.

It's Angry Birds in 3D (polygonal 3D). I didn't think it had all that much charm, personally, and gameplay-wise, I'd rather play...Angry Birds.

Wow, well that's deleted then.

I know I shouldn't have done it. My mind said not to do it. But in my heart I love Batman so I bought The Dark Knight Rises app after seeing the movie last night. Typical Shameloft production, reskinned version of a different game. It isn't horrible as the game is mechanically sound. Just seems like another mediocre product from the Gameloft churn factory.

Just spent half an hour with Blazing Star on my co-worker's iPad. Great port! Even has 50% and 100% scanline options.

The touch isn't "1:1". SNK kept speed attributes in for each ship, so you can't just zoom around as fast as you can swipe your finger. The faster ships are pretty close to 1:1, but the slower ships are more like dragging something around on a tether. It's not as bad as it sounds. It reminds me of"Assault Squadron", also on iOS, in that respect.

At 2.99, it's a fantastic deal.

Yes, and check out their amazing Metal Slug 3 port as well. Both of these are Retina if you disable filtering. DotEmu is amazing, and for Blazing Star, they're patching in the option for 1:1 controls.

Well, I heard it has a $99 IAP, so that told me all I needed to know about the game, really. You charge people $7 for a game, then add a $99 IAP to say thanks for your purchase?

Can't wait for some dev to jump in and defend this horseshit.

1:1 support will be a nice addition. I would also like to see a 3rd button for auto fire. My wrists are cramped up from tapping A all day, LOL.

Yeah, DotEmu is awesome. I've been infatuated with their R-Type port for awhile now.

Oh man I really wanted to play this!

I can't seem to find it on the Australian App Store?

Has it been pulled or did it never come out on the Aussie store?

I dunno, it popped right up in the US store when I searched for "Jurassic Park," right next to the Telltale game episodes.

Builder has been great fun so far! Lots of great Jurassic Park charm, addicting gameplay, and best of all the game moves fast enough (for me) that I don't feel the need for any IAP at this point. I've only played a couple hours though, so we'll see what happens when I start expanding my park.

if idiots want to pay $99 for stupid things, they why stop them. As long as the same content can be earned by playing the game, I'm fine with the setup. EA sells $60 games and has DLC to unlock stuff like career cars.

It's so ugly, though. The menus and the graphics and everything. Probably doesn't help that I've been playing Snoopy's Street Fair, which just looks perfect.

Happy Street is out next week too, it was the wrong time for a Jurassic Park builder! Definitely interested to hear how it works out long-term though, which is where many of these things fail. Snoopy's definitely heading that way. There's basically no premium currency awarded in the game and everything good (and even half the shit stuff) costs Snoopy Dollars, so I feel like I'm going to hit a wall very soon.

Agreed. Gameloft is well within their rights to be douche bags and recognize their audience as "idiots."

Manos delivers. Game is awesome and feels like a long lost NES game

Oh, this Manos is actually pretty neat. I like what it's going for but hope it starts handing out continues further on. Nothing worse than getting game overs because of the iPhone. I just can't do precision platforming with my hands in the way of the screen.

Edit: The frustrating thing is the game wouldn't even be hard at all designed around a controller. The one thing it's missing from that era is that tightness of control. My favorite thing from that period of videogames.

Chaos Rings II for iPad is on sale for $13.99... worth it? Lots of complaints about it not being HD or retina in the reviews.

just release ff dimensions already, damnit.

Chaos Rings II is a lot like Chaos Rings but with changed names (for example, Genes are now Sopia) and some battle system adjustments plus much better graphics. If you liked Chaos Rings you'll probably like Chaos Rings II, I'd say it's worth it.

And FF Dimensions appears to have been delayed from the vague "July" date it had to late August.
SE still has yet to release both Guardian Cross and Drakerider too, so before FF Dimensions is out those are probably coming first, for Guardian Cross I think they're waiting for the release of a big update to the Japanese version before releasing it overseas and for Drakerider... I don't know, since it came out as Star Burial Dragnir a few days ago in Japan.

So I should stop refreshing the square enix developer page every hour? Where'd you hear about the August date? I can't find anything about a release besides the July info.

Man I really wish Robo Defense would come to iOS. Probably my favorite TD game that I've played and so far as I know it's Android exclusive. :(

Just tonight I introduced a friend to the game when he asked if I knew anything fun to play on Android (he has an S3). I showed him that one and immediately became jealous :lol

From this interview Famitsu did with SE's Mobile Business Manager Kazuhiko Yamaguchi and Mobile Business Producer Yasunori Ootsu:
http://app.famitsu.com/20120724_78714/
The interview is mainly focused on FFIII being a huge hit on Google Play (So far it has sold about 50,000 copies, about 50 or 60% of what it had sold on iOS after the same amount of time at release) but they also mention differences between iOS and Android as well as their future plans, which are to bring Kakusansei Million Arthur to Google Play soonish, release Otome Break on iOS at the beggining of August and finally release FF Dimensions at the end of August. Then again, on another article on Famitsu they mentioned Guardian Cross was planned to be released in April but due to certification issues it kept getting delayed, so FF Dimensions could not come out until an even later date.
EDIT: SE just announced Otome Break is coming on 8/8 to iOS (in Japan: http://www.square-enix.com/jp/mobile/ "What's New" section) so this sort of confirms the schedule those staffers said there... August it is for FF Dimensions then.

Civ Rev is .99 on iphone and iPad. I looked recently and it was 6.99 or so, so this is a pleasant surprise. I dunno how often it drops though.

I got it for free like 3-4 years ago ;) But it's been updated a lot since then.

So that Character Chowdown game for learning Japanese characters is out. Kind of curious how good that is as a supplement should someone want to seriously learn the language.

From the reviews it seems like it now has adds in the paid version.

for real? let me start it up now and check

EDIT: It has a tiny bar in the top advertising another Game by the same dev (sid meier's pirates), which is only visible in the main menu... definitely NOTHING big/worthy of "I'm not buying it because of this". It's an awesome game, worth much more than just .99.
