What's a good puzzle game for iphone?

If you want to go out of the "Tetris" style, do try:

- Quell

- Block Rogue

- Trainyard

- Cut The Rope

Thanks everyone for the hints :)

I'm surprised MinoMonsters is apparently still being worked on. When I saw the first screenshots I was sure the dev had the next big thing but they completely blew it.

Hey guys, I wanted to post about a game that's been developed by someone I used to work with back in the Krome days and I think is really neat.

Train Defense is a new take on the tower defense genre - you control a train that moves around the play field (you lay down track for it with your finger) shooting invading enemies with your upgradable carriages.

It's universal, only a buck, and fun.

In other news, has anyone else dramatically reduced their console gaming time since they got their iOS device? Not having to bore my wife with whatever console game I was playing has been awesome.

Sounds right up my alley, looks pretty charming. $1 and universal seal the deal.

Also, those 3 green circles with triangles you see on the playfield on each side, you can try and hit those notes as well since they go along with the song but if you don't have good concentration, it'll be hard hitting those notes AND your respective color's notes, unless it's the basic difficulty.

I was pretty sure those notes count as part of your combo, so you're penalized for not hitting them.

Holy shit @Shogun. Grazing mechanic, iCade support, fuck yesssss when does it release? Edit: TA says week or so, and that it looks amazing video doesn't do it justice.

Did someone say puzzle game? Dungeon Raid.

So nothing that great this week? Seems like Paper Monsters is a dud.

Grr, damn 16GB iPad, I can't seem to free up enough space to install the Rage HD update. I'm at like 1.9GB free at this point after uninstalling a bunch of stuff, and it still says there isn't enough space. I really don't want to delete any other apps. I hate that you lose progress when you delete an app.

Got the Rage HD update and can't really notice any improvements. Still didn't add better button placement options for iPad2 either. And there are still performance issues here and there and the occasional model (characters or other stuff too) popping into view out of nowhere. Oh well, still a fun game, new levels look good.

Just nabbed the iPhone version of Ant Raid. Looking forward to fooling around with that later. Looks pretty cool, though I'm guessing it's old news for iPad owners.

Man Triple Town really screwed up. I mean the game is simple and awesome but why would I pay 5 dollars for unlimited turns when there are tons of other games that are 99c and offer a lot more game. If they just made it a 99cent app and made it unlimited turns it would make 10-15x more money.

Sequel to Nanashi No Game (DS) on iOS in Japan

http://andriasang.com/comzri/nanashi_ios/

The sequel also came out on DS

I loved the first game on DS. Hopefully this gets localized but I doubt it will.

Anyone know anything about Robot wants Kitty? It looks fun judging by the screenshots but I'm not sure thats enough to go on.

It's a Metroidvania but the levels are small. Not a bad game, but there's IAP to get more levels. You only have one to start with in the free version.

Has anyone seen the ICade modding thread on the shoryuken board?

Yeah, I've been thinking about modding mine with Seimitsu.

I didn't notice there was any more levels, hmm.. fun little game.. very short, but fun. Not sure I really wanted too much more though, because I didn't pay for it.

Worth a d/l and the 10-20mins it takes to beat.

Also, re: puzzle games

Check out Jabeh.. not sure if it's $5 worth of fun, I think I paid considerably less for it, but it's a nicely polished game, and relaxing.

There's a free version as well. with 50 levels. Which is more than enough to know if it's your thing or not.

Other options I don't think have been mentioned are:

Shibuya
Lumines
Piyo Blocks 2
Radballs

and yes, Drop 7, SpellTower, and Where's My Water are awesome too.

Those are seven great games right there that can last you for a while.

Holy shit... how did I miss that Lumines was on iOS? Played this game to no end when it was first released for the PSP. Classic.

Thanks.

Puzzlejuice is so much better on iPad. Just jumped from 300k to over 1 million in zen mode....sheesh

Would be a good game for GAF challenge if we ever have one

It's $4. I paid it without question. The game is awesome, and I've put a ton of time into it.

Go look at a Vita or 3DS thread. Those systems have software prices worth complaining about. Complaining about $4, though? Come on.

Quick question iGAF. I have an iPad and an iPhone with "Where is my water?" installed on both (same universal app). If I buy the new levels on one device, it won't be transferred to the other I guess? I need to buy it twice?

Flick Kick Field Goal has an update out that adds new unlockable balls, and I've got four codes for the Gaf. First in, first served :)

I almost jumped at this, but I'm not sure I can deal with the 'funny' storytelling.

Played about 45 minutes of this, it's awesome.

Runs reasonably well and is easy to figure out what to do.

I like the mechanics, both the combat and the stats. Really feels like playing a modern incarnation of Pools of Radiance (only the combat of course) to me. I especially like the DnDesque advancement, when you level up you get a couple of HPs and other stat bonuses, you aren't going to have 10,000 HPs or an armor class of 500. Has a nice old school feel in that respect.

It's well written, I'm digging the Ghostbusters homage. It's witty but not what I'd call super funny. I'd definitely recommend it, especially at its price.

I'll take a code if they're still going

Sorry, you just missed out. We are going to give some away on Twitter (@pikpokgames), if you want another shot at one though. We also have a free version, Flick Kick Fieldgoal Kickoff, which is about to be updated too, if you want to try it right away.

picked up baseball superstars 2012: 30 million downloads edition (lmao)

Like how I feared, this game is a lot harder than last year in a 'come on kid... get some g points to help yourself ;P' kinda way.

Playing my batter right now on normal, and season 1 is pretty brutal. You barely get any condition back if you win a match, and you lose many if you mess up a 'in match event', which is pretty easy when your stats aren't great.

It also cost a bunch of condition to train, which means you gotta be a lot more conservative.

btw: is morality and condition the same thing?

Not sure if I dig the new visuals... It's like they got a whole art team for their recent games?

Thanks for the recommendation. I love me some TBS. Bought.

WHOA! Epoch update is sweet! Already had all the best items and tons of money but they added really expensive top tier stuff and Ultra mode is great. I'm still a little rusty but it seems like a solid challenge. The new tiered item system makes it much easier to figure out upgrades for people too. Did they not have IAP currency before? Hmm. If they didn't change the money earning rate, this is a pretty good implementation.

Ghostbusters references make me worry slightly (are references to pop culture ever that funny?) but your impressions sound positive. I've just picked this up and I'll give it a play.
