Is it actually playable without IAP?

I never understood why people hated IAP until this Baseball 12. I had only played games like Jetpack Joyride and Squids where most purchases were 99 cents and were generally useful.

I wasn't earning any money in Baseball 12 to upgrade my gear, so I clicked on the cash icon. It asked me if I wanted to hire someone to increase my cash. I said yes, then it brought up a "are you sure you want to buy this item for $19.99?" There are a few other stats that require hiring people, and I'm willing to bet the IAP price is about the same for all of them.

Ha, ha!

Gets you to thinking that in spite of Nintendo being a bit self-serving with their stance on mobile apps, perhaps they do actually have a point. From here on out I shall refer to such IAP as The Las Vegas Syndrome. The scariest part of all this is when you look at the top-grossing games on the App Store and see games like this -- that have outrageous IAP -- in the top slots.

If you guys haven't done so, disable IAP from the settings on your iOS device. I always get scared that I might click on BUY on those IAP popups.

What's the best golf game for iPad? I prefer the more cartoony golf games like Hot Shots, but I'll play whatever is good.

Super Stickman Golf. It's simplified and 2D but it's such a great game.

Next week is going to be the best release week since before the holiday app store block.

Looks good, but why have a virtual d-pad? Why not just click on the area you want to walk to? That's annoying.

That would be even worse and unplayable on Iphone/IpodT because you always put your finger somewhere you want to go. The true solution for control with this type of games has already been found: Mage Gauntlet. You slide your thunmb anywhere on the screen and that decides the direction the character will go. (basically a on-screen joystick that is everywhere and invisible)

I'm playing Squids now and I'd love to buy the Pearlfish since I won the game from the Blocks That Matter guys, but I can't buy anything from the item store. Squids, helmets and level upgrades work though.

As someone who played a TON of 2010/2011 baseball from Gamevil the IAP are pointless because unless you have zero reflexes you will be overpowered by season 3/4 at the latest.

You can raise stats without money.

Would be awesome if that new DoDonPachi game is higher res than the other ones. The smooth-looking Phoenix HD made me believe it should be possible while maintaining a great framerate.

Espgaluda II HD is probably as good as you're going to get from a sprite-based game. The game dropped more than half the frames of character animation the original game has and it still causes low memory events the entire way.

Also, the "new" game is a port of a 10 year old game, and it's pretty clear from the trailer they're not doing anything to update the graphics. Not to say it's a bad thing - DDPDOJ is still one of their best looking and best designed games.

Looks like the "$1" apps on freemyapps just got halved in credits. Only ~185 credits for those apps
It sucks how most of the sponsor apps are iPad only now. When the site was young, there was enough stuff on there that I was able to snag IB2 in one day, and now it's a wasteland. I check every few days and there's the odd Universal app or two, but they never offer more than 75 credits.

I'm such a cheap-ass

Well, it is gotten popular. You can only earn credits via referrals these days. I've gotten a bunch of stuff, so I can't complain. Mostly HD versions of games I already owned (Fruit Ninja, Angry Birds, Cut the Rope) and other stuff (Sonic CD, Terra Noctis, Instapaper, and Tweetbot).

And there's no shame in getting stuff for free, if it is legal.

Hate Baseball Superstars 2012, the game just feels cheap, I'm good at timing, super good, but it feels like I would have to spend a good chunk of money just to feel like I can hit a ball with any consistency. Super frustrating, I adored 09 and 10.

I can't hit for shit. And the gameplay itself isn't doing anything to me. At least batting isn't as boring like pitching.

Yeah, first year pretty much sucks. It gets better after you train a bit and talent up (in a baseball game!).

To be fair, the past baseball superstar games were pretty damn easy in my player. Could easily bat .500+ year 2 and on. This game I'm batting about .400 year 5. You lose ALOT of morale/condition now for pretty much anything (fucking up a chance play, training, etc), so you pretty much have to manage your points out better (I try to stay about 50 condition, rest when needed). Always have like 2000 money about because you pretty much are guaranteed to get sick or injury once a year even if you play it safe. Those affect your stats the most, vs not training much (which is just 5% off, no biggie).

And the biggest 'cheat' that is a key part of the series. If the game looks grim, just quit back to main menu, and you can then redue the game again (it doesn't save by inning or what not). Kinda cheap... but making playoffs and winning championship does give you hefty amount of gold and popularity.

It's a fair bit harder and they try to make you buy gcoins around every corner... but you can manage ;)

Or just play the old games. They are all pretty much the same lol.

Also quiz time event. i'm pretty sure they just jacked the questions from here lol http://www.triviaplaying.com/39_Baseball_trivia.htm

So noone on iosGAF has played Chaos Rings or Infinity Blade?

Can't say about Chaos Ring, but Infinity Blade is a Punch-Out grindfest. I like Punch-Out, so IB satisfy me in that regard. However, music is almost non-existent, and it isn't as charming.

There are better iOS games out there.

I've played both. What makes you think no one on neogaf has played 2 of the most gamey games on the platform?

What would you guys suggest for Iphone4S that can relieve my RPG itch?

Been playing some Rage lately on PC. Incredible. Rage HD on iOS is actually the better game. Even has higher resolution textures some of the time. How the fuck did id screw this up. Well, cool that we at least got a kick-ass iOS game out of it!

(note: I do love Rage's art direction and megatextured organic look, but goddamn man what the hell with the game being an endless chain of bland generic fetch quests devoid of any remotely interesting characters or story)

OK, new iPhone owner here with some questions about GameCenter.

My wife got a new 4s and I though I could get some gaming on it.

I created two different profiles, one for me and another for her, in GameCenter. All games are purchase from my AppStore account.

It seems that all users shares the same achievement and points list, I cannot get two different profiles to work on the same device.

What I am doing:

- Log in on my profile in GameCenter.
- Play some game, earn achievements. Look at my profile in GameCenter and they are there.
- Log out from my profile in GameCenter.
- Log in on her profile in GameCenter. Look at her profile, zero achievements in that particular game.
- Play the same game with her profile, but do not earn any achievement.
- Look at her profile in GameCenter. Now her score and achievements are exactly the same as mine, she "got" some achievements because she played the same game in which I already earn some.

And yes, when starting the game the correct profile shows up in the greetings message.

What I am doing wrong?
