To those who played (liked?) Run Roo Run.

We're going to be adding some significant new stuff in an upcoming update. But I thought it might be cool to see what would you like to see more (or less) of?

Played and liked a lot. When you say "significant new stuff" do you mean new levels? Because the handles introduced in chapter 11 feel a bit iffy. I'd greatly appreciate if you either dropped those or made them more responsive :)

I also second the unlockables notion.

I would really like more 'medium' difficulty levels. Way harder than the normal levels but not quite as sadistic as extreme. I like the DL levels we've had so far, and I'm really digging all the elements being used together in creative ways. Sometimes the best levels were the ones that were relatively easy but they'd use loads of stuff together to give unexpected routes through the levels.

I have a technical question. I downloaded Dungeon Hunter 3 and it runs terribly. It's like a slideshow. I can run Infinity Blade, Eternity Warriors, and other graphics intensive games just fine, but this one just chugs. Makes it very difficult to play. I am using an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.01.

Is this just how the game is, or is it something else? I tried closing apps in the background, disabling spotlight search, and turning off a lot of the notifications.

It runs OK for me on 4th gen Ipod Touch. Only time I get bad slowdowns is when you resume from pause, then it's a slideshow for a while. Although with a lot of enemies on the screen you do feel it slowing down.

There was a recent patch maybe that helped.

What's the general consensus on the best baseball game? iPad 2 here (compatibility with iPhone 3GS would be a plus, but not mandatory). Thanks in advance.

I wish there were more baseball games. You have your pick of basketball, football, and soccer, but baseball, which IMO would be easier to control via touchscreen, feels under represented here.

gotta say puzzlejuice is excellent but it gets really difficult really fast - I can only manage 4million at best. Then I checked the leaderboards and the top scorer is at 52 million??!!!??!??!

depressing :P I can never seem to get 5 letter words or more. Rare.

tips? We need an OT for this game.

finished Kingdom Rush HD. That's an excellent game. Strategy game done right. Normal mode is suprisingly tough. Which makes it even better. I beat the final stage on easy - not sure how to do it on normal. Nice graphics; surprisingly deep. Lots of stages. Well worth the money

I think my problem with that game, is that I'm trying to play it on an iphone, and not an ipad.

I need to get an ipad one of these days...

yeah its a universal game so I also tried it on the iphone4s. The screen real estate just doesn't do it any favour. tablet gaming really makes a massive difference.

It's all about getting a high combo score going early when there is time to plan your moves. If you are at speed 15 or high and only have a couple million, its going to be hard to get a high score. Keep the chain going even if you are just doing lots of 3 letter words, that's more important than getting longer words.

I've had no problems playing on my iphone, but it seems like it would be better on an ipad

Cannot wait for these. I bought the original PW1 app but apparently all three will be $15 so eh.

So far I haven't been much for iOS-gaming. Four games have only really kept my intrest up: Plants vs Zombies, Game Dev Story, Angry Birds and Tiny Tower. In that order. Now I've "finished" Tiny Tower and I needed something else to distract me from logging in and building empty floors (of which I've built 9 so far), so I downloaded:

  • Infinity Blade
  • Groove Coaster
  • Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP

And now I'm wondering. What else really unique and essential is there?

Along the lines of things that kept your interest, maybe try some other repetitive-but-addicting games? Jetpack Joyride, Super Crate Box, etc.?

I've been playing more of my rhythm / music games lately and I don't really like Cytus much. Taiko Drum Master is good but speeds up to a point where I find it hard to use the touchscreen for.

For those who have finished Squids, have you found the secret star during the boss fight? I've checked every inch of the level and even moved those rocks around but still nothing. I think it might be glitched, which isn't the only thing since I can't buy anything from the item store.

My suggestions

Dungeon Raid
Anomaly: Warzone Earth
Space Miner
League of Evil

There's an easy mode? I thought normal was the original difficulty. I'm on the map with the volcano monster. Tried it twice last night and no luck. Gotta figure out the strategy. It's definitely a TD game that forces you to think where you're putting those towers and how you're upgrading.

Ravenmark, Carcassonne, Heroes of Kalevala!

normal mode is default. you're right..

you can change it to easy mode. and when you clear levels you can still get the stars needed to upgrade your skills. Which you can then bring your perked up stats to the normal game. Still don't make the two post 3 star challenges any less difficult. I'm at about 34 stars...

Just curious, do folks think it's ever in the cards that Apple will allow us to back up our game saves to iCloud? I know select games are iCloud compatible, making them playable on any of your iDevices, but it sure would be nice to be able to erase stuff from my phone, reinstall when I'm in the mood, and continue where I left off.

After getting a 4S, Infinity Blade is a whole new game. I got it at launch on my 4th Gen iPod touch...it was fun for a bit but the horrible framerate made it hard to play and it made me hate the game.

Playing it now on the 4S makes a world of difference in responsiveness and framerate. I was actually able to beat the God King fairly quickly this time around (I think on the 5th bloodline).

I just started playing IB2 and amazed by how much better it looks and runs smoother than IB1.

This needs to happen ASAP. Still bugged about my lost IB1 save >_>

Echoing one of the posters above, I'd say fewer Extreme levels. While they were challenging enough, there isn't a lot of room to improve your times on those levels since there's generally only one way to beat them.

It's the levels where you can adjust your timing and rethink how you use/avoid obstacles that really shine. I'm sure those are also the hardest to design, but they're also the most rewarding to play (and replay). Some of the weekly levels have been good, but they're not as tight as a lot of the original levels.

I don't think my "Updates Available" button in iTunes is working correctly. It shows updates only for some of my games that actually have updates.

Any idea why?

It looks like Scribblenauts got an update to allow for a DLC that adds 20 new levels, but "Updates Available" didn't tell me about that update. Does it only tell us about an update that fixes bugs or adds free content, not updates that add DLC support or other stuff (Mirror's Edge got an update to support Origin login that I also didn't get notified about).

How does Paper Monsters control? I'm very suspicious of platformers on a touch screen.

Really well. It's a lot like Little Big Planet where movement is floatier than your typical reflex platformer. So precise controls isn't nearly as important.

Granted, I'm not far in yet.

I'm not a huge fan of the levels with the cannons. Getting gold on those extreme levels seems to take an incredible amount of luck. You have to jump into the cannon then jump out at the exact split second later. Also, unlike the jumping, there is no arrow to measure where you 'jumped' out at, so I can't easily learn and do better on the next try.

I actually disagree. Overall, Run Roo Run plays almost like a rhythm game. The really fast-moving canons work pretty well once you find the right rhythm (similar to the way double jumps work). Definitely not luck.

Yeah, I was very much looking forward to this game until it became clear it's just another iOS platformer that uses a virtual stick/d-pad. I immediately lost interest.

Any great simulation games? All the football manager games are rather simplistic. Any setting/subgenre. I want stuff where I can work on miniscule details, and progress in my own pace.

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, Paper Monsters is really special. It's a very joyful, stressfree little game. I played it for half an hour earlier and it wasn't hard, it didn't wind me up, I just came away calmer and happier. Very nice. The controls are perfect as well. It uses a very tiny analogue stick, which means L&R are wherever you want them to be at any one time, and you can flick back and forth between the two directions very well. If all games used this method I'd be very happy. Really gorgeous little game too, the presentation is wonderful.

Just finished the last mission too-that's insanely tough-for the last boss, I was selling my out of range towers like crazy as soon as he passed them and I literally killed him at the last second. INSANE.

Now I'm going for the achievements. I think I have to say this is my favorite iOS game ever. So much polish.

They really need that to happen-it's really stupid that you can't at this point. I mean, I have an issue with my iPad where there is about .90 gigs of "Other" space being taken up and I've tried everything to get ride of it-short of an erase and restore from scratch--and I can't do that because I'll lose all my save game files. iCloud is a nice solution but the developers have to implement it. I don't know what's taking so long...

Bought Kingdom Rush due to recommendations in this thread.

It's very very good. I finally got 3 stars on level 11 and it was a real bitch. The first couple of levels are easy but then it really ramps up the difficulty.

The Barracks/Militia guys don't seem to be very good.

- they can't attack flying mobs.
- can only attack 3 things at a time so running mobs can go right past.
- unlike other units can temporarily be removed from battle partially or fully by death
- have a smaller attack range than the other units. Even archers which have the same base cost

Some of those things are resolved by the upgrades once you are a Paladin/Berserker(?) but if you're trying for 3 stars you have to survive until that time. I really like melee so I try to build paladins almost every level but I end up having to switch my strategy and only really using base barracks as extra conscriptions while putting everything into my mage/archers. They don't seem to do enough damage to make up for the limitations.

Well, I recently said I was enjoying Order Up.. but then someone mentioned how grind heavy it is... and they were right.

They need to almost double the coin totals to really increase the play-ability in the long term. Trying to unlock the next tier restaurants without IAP is a chore since profit margins are so so slim.

Did find this glitch on Touch Arcade that helps a bit. If you buy a menu item with silver coins, then immediately hit the home button then home/home and delete it from the task bar you'll keep the unlocked item but not lose your coins. It helps a bit, since those silver coins are so hard to build up as is.

This is why I don't bother with "free" games that have IAP.

I got 2.9 Gs :(
