iPad 3 announcement imminent. Prepare to be disappointed!
It's all about the gameplay man, It's as addictive as fuck.
I just re-downloaded Military Madness Neo Nectaris for my iPhone 3GS and it's awesome.
A must buy for $4.99
The game is basicly Military Madness 2 (it's on Android too), was originally released in 1994 for the PC-Engine Super CD-ROM system.
Get it if you like turn-based strategy games.
following the live blog from Engadget. Loved this comment
"Favorite for gaming, said these users, even versus home consoles. The hardcore gamers in the room just shivered."
There's a lot of great iOS games but I still prefer playing on consoles/game handhelds.
I'm too shallow. I can play an "OK" looking game, but an ugly game-no way.
Final final boss or the "final" boss?
He's saying this has more memory or screen resolution than either the Xbox 360 or the PS3.
Yeah, but how about control inputs?
iPad 3 seems a bit underwhelming. It's an iPad 2 with better graphics. Fair enough, that's enough for most people, but it just doesn't feel very new.

You're not thinking Fourth Dimensionally.
AnandTech said:Apple just confirmed the new iPad uses an Apple A5X SoC. Its main improvement? What Apple is calling quad-core graphics. Our guess? Dual-core Cortex A9 plus a PowerVR SGX543MP4, an upgrade over the 543MP2 used in the iPad 2. Clock speeds are still unknown, however Apple is claiming 2x the performance over the iPad 2 implying equal GPU clocks.
I've been saying that tables / smartphones are gonna kill the handheld market and make a dent in the console market... It's a Quad Core GPU with a Dual Core CPU. With that large ass resolution I'm interested in seeing some benchies on the new iPad.
Quad core graphics
Retina display
5 megapixel camera
1080p video recording
A5X processor
4G LTE
What would you add that would make it new besides it looking different?
I guess not.
Same GPU as the Vita. And the Vita also has a 4core Cortex A9 (versus 2 core speculated by Anandtech)
So this would put the Vita as slightly more powerful? But with a smaller and lower res screen of course. I just don't want the Vita to get blown out of the water
yeah I am interested as well. Sounds like it has almost the same hardware as the Vita though, so it's not like it is far beyond current handhelds.

Better graphics, better processors, better battery life (by about an hour), better camera, HD video recording. Yep, same ole iPad.

So Vita has a similar processor, yet lower resolutions, smaller screen size and poorer battery life.
Yeah battery life is a big problem on the Vita. Lower resolution should mean higher FPS on average though...
Smaller screen size means more portable, but also less impressive.
Vita has traditional gaming inputs (dpad, buttons, analogs) so it will be better suited for traditional console and handheld type games.
iPad is much more versatile over all, much more than just a gaming machine.
I don't think either system blows the other out of the water, which is was my main concern with the iPad 3. I don't think the iPad 3 is going to "kill off" traditional handhelds.
But that's exactly my point. Everything's better, but nothing's new.
I want a Vita too-but with a price comparison it seems to be, I'd get more out of the iPad...I mean I'd love to play Uncharted on the Vita-but it's 50 dollars-and I'm conditioned to really get a lot of time and enjoyment out of really cheap iOS apps...
It's a strange mentality, I admit.
The New Ipad?
If that's your real reason, you should get something from Wacom instead. The ipad is capacitive touch, which means there's not pressure sensitivity. That's why a stylus doesn't really work properly on it. Even with the increased resolution, it's not going to be great for art.Getting it day 1 (if possible) for no other reason than my little girl is an artist and the new Sketchbook is going to be awesome on it. I'm also very interested to see how my Kindle and iBooks look on that screen.
unless something else goes wrong last minute, Adventure Bar Story should be out tomorrow (today in NZ/Euro)

I think the fact that Apple got dev kits early to a few select developers like Namco and Epic mean that they're looking to cultivate games with Infinity Blade-level production. Unlike Vita and the 3DS, when it comes to games, the biggest hurdle for developers will be marketing. Commercials and ads are pretty common for traditional handheld games, but for games on iOS, the only commercial time they get is within an Apple commercial. Even their marketing departments aren't taking games on iOS seriously to dedicate those marketing dollars and smaller developers just don't have the kind of money to throw at a TV ad campaign.
huh
What would be "new" that would impress you? It has four legs and walks?
