I hope my drawing warmed your heart. :-p

This game really needs an update, and soon. I've already seen a bunch of the same words multiple times, especially Florida. I'm addicted to the game, but enough of the repeat words already. That isn't very good considering I just got the game yesterday.

Hey looks like for my "car wash" drawing it didn't give you the right letters...

lol any beginner tips? I'm still really confused what I'm suppose to be doing =/

I run around the fields and loot stuff... but then what?

I've been going to dungeons, collecting everything, then grinding battles to level up skills / get materials from the monster drops. Then back to town, buy some other materials if needed, then cook up a ton of stuff and put the pricier / more popular items on the menu before opening the store.

Get money, rinse, repeat!

If people are looking for turn based strategy:

Uniwar: very similar to the old battle isle games but not quite the depth of length. Still worth playing
Wesnoth: Can't beat the value. Presentation is a little cluttered for me, but certainly worth it.
Mecho Wars: Advance wars clone that made me wish I was playing advance wars. Still good considering the limited options.
Highborn: Seemed pretty decent, but didn't invest as it looks like it will get very pricy with the cost of entry and IAP. Might pick it up on sale one day.

If anybody else has some recommendations, would love to hear them.

Highborn is nice.
It has gone free a couple of times already (snagged it up that way myself), I don't know if IAPs are required later on because I didn't invest enough time with is since I still have a couple of Fire Emblems to beat, but it didn't look like that to me (again, just 3 or 4 hours in); I'd say it's definitely part of the good bunch of turn based srpg on the platform, if you guys don't want anything much deeper than a Fire Emblem game as far as mechanics go (FE and Super Robot Wars games are as far as I'm willing to go with the genre). Writing seemed decent too, constantly breaking the fouth wall if you dig that. It does have an heavy western flavour of course, so don't go there expecting a pure FE "clone".

Yes to both, iCloud backups contain all your custom settings including save games. IAPs are tied to your Apple ID and are independent from the backup, it differs from game to game how restoring IAPs work, either they have a "restore purchases" button or you "re-purchase" the IAPs at which point the system will check your Apple ID and see you've already bought them and unlock them for you.

Does doing the backup via iTunes restore IAPs more automatically? I have something like 45 song packs for jukebeat/jubeat plus that would not be fun to redownload manually.

Holy Batman I'm late to the party but I can't believe that they've finally upped the 3G download limits to 50MB!

So, so happy!

Just bought Draw Something since it seems hilarious looking at the posts in here, yeah I'm lttp again I know :P

But I need friends/gaffers to play with! Add me and never look back:

Didn't bamihap promise you a free copy?

It's a good game, people need to try it out.

EDIT: the graphics are actually nice in motion. The kids have a lot of personality and the lighting is lovely. the 2D art is fantastic as well. It does have a little bit of N64-era jank to it, but it's also charming too. Anyone who likes Battleheart should dig this.
Thanks! We've been getting some amazing reviews and some ok ones. Seems that people either love it or find it ok. But I guess thats how it should be :).

I'm glad you like it!

Thanks for the info. It does look good, just a bit pricey at the moment (relatively). All the scenarios are extra as well, so will be digging into wesnoth (which has no such issue) and watching the sales.

When yguys play games, do you use the iPad speakers or do you use a headset of some sort? What about if you are sitting next to someone in your house?

I ask because sometimes I find myself just browsing the net instead of playing a game because of the music/effects.

Is there something special you need to do to unlock dungeons? I have 3 outdoor places to explore now, and 2 towns, no dungeons.

I'm not sure if it unlocks by day or the popularity of your restaurant. I just unlocked a cave at day 14, but I think when you have a day where your sales are good, then Siela comments about needing more ingredients to be even more popular, thus unlocking new places. This might always happen on the same days, though.

Also what are your three outdoor places? I have 2 + the farming town + the cave.

More Ravensword 2:

can't wait, loved the first ravensword even if it was rather small and only an hour long when you knew where to go, I never played much of Aralon as it ran rather bad on an old 2g touch and i've just not got around to it on my new touch. These games really do need an ipad screen to play them well.

How is the first Ravensword?

My biggest problem with Aralon (and why I refuse to play) is the lack of waypoints for missions.

Ravensword is very old and small, it was amazing at the time and while everyone was still pumped over oblivion.

just beat kings cashing in about 1.5-2 hours.

Not a bad game. Only used the 1 button mode. Definitely worth the $0.99 I paid for it but not more imo.

Oh, actually I was wrong, the 3rd one was the cave. Is that the dungeon you are referring to? I think I'm on day 16.

Yup. Well by 'dungeons' I meant all the areas haha. Past the cave onto the reef or whatever now. Grinding for materials makes you pretty strong in terms of usable abilities. Too bad about the eating limit per day.

Mass Effect Infiltrator is pretty poop, I don't recommend it. The level design is poor, the shooting isn't great, it's an exercise in frustration, and so far the plot, writing, and voice acting suck. The paragon/renegade system literally boils down to "You see a bad guy. Do you want to rudely remind him he's lucky to be alive, or kill him?"--orders of magnitude more simple than the console games, if that was possible. Also there's nothing so far besides moving and fighting, so don't expect any interesting branching dialogue or choices. It's not a cost thing, it's just not interesting or worth your time to play so far.

Performance on an iPad 2 is hit-or-miss, haven't tried my 4S yet.

Yep, it's pretty bad.

Also, this game doesn't support multi-tasking on my 4. Every time I try to resume the app, it just relaunches. Not sure if it's a limitation of the 4 or the game just doesn't support multi tasking in general?

Infiltrator is the build with cloak, right?

I think I used the cloak once during my entire play-through of ME2. I think I only went with it for the sniper rifle, which bored me to tears over time. I did the second play-through with the mage build and had the time of my life (in a ME game). Lesson learned.

Dumb question time..

Which came first? Charadium or Draw Something?

I see lots of people raving about Draw Something but I've been playing Charadium instead. Did one rip off the other or is it another case of a genre being mined to death?

From looking at the features I like Charadium more but DS seems to have more downloads I'm guessing?

any info? Thanks!

... no, I mean the iOS game called Mass Effect Infiltrator. Hahaha. I wasn't just making a random off-topic post in the iOS game thread!

Heh, I redeemed a free code for Mass Effect Infiltrator and I can't even bother to download and try the game out.

Seems great, thanks.

Not sure if someone already mentioned it, but Ravenmark is a must.

I really liked ME: Infiltrator. Just beat it a couple of hours ago and I'll start NG+ when the retina updates comes out. I agree that it was not even comparable to the console games, but it was still a fun little third-person shooter. Extremely limited and often lame (paragon\renegade) but fun nevertheless.

I find it amusing that the iPad's display is now so detailed that:

it can show an entire three megapixel photo on-screen without scaling,

viewing it up on the "big screen" of an HDTV through video out requires less resolution and therefore makes 1080p a comparatively easy render target for devs supporting it,

and desktop level development tools and environment can pose logistical challenges when trying to profile and test their apps.

Firemint talks about that last one.

I've played draw something so much, not it's mostly guessing the words from the letters a supposed to the drawings.

I guessed 'birthday' on my sisters drawing, which consisted of a black line, which she accidentally drew from trying to scroll the colours.

Did you actually grind monsters? I realised I probably shouldn't just walk around, collect ingredients and then go back, but stay and just walk around and fight...?

Yeah I've been doing a lot of grinding. The auto button works pretty well and you get a bunch of new skills. Doesn't take too long to get 99 of the common more common, cheaper ingredients.

I don't know how to swap out party members, ahh.

I can't believe how many attempts you took to guess my drawing of "USB". I drew the symbol for it!

I'm really interested to see how the new Infinity Blade plays out.

Also, since the 3rd gen iPad has quad-core graphics, I'd love to see EA Sports give it more love particularly on the FIFA side of things. A semi-close Vita port would be pretty awesome.

Half mint don't got 30" monitors. And I thought they were 'real' game devs xD
