So... League of Evil 1, League of Evil 2 or both?

Both are excellent. LoE1 is more retro-styled, LoE2 is high-res and super smooth in terms of framerate and has higher production values but both games still feel very similar, I wouldn't say either really feels like the clearly superior one necessarily.

Sega has a couple of potentially cool games coming:

http://toucharcade.com/2012/03/13/gdc-2012-sega-showcases-upcoming-titles/

I would definitely be up for more Bloodshow and that Total War game looks interesting.

The Total War game looks really interesting, reminds me of a mix between the Total War series and Civ5, with the hex tiles. I love the series, so if it's a good port I'd jump on that.

But also: VIRTUA TENNIS? Oh god yes please. Too bad android-only for now :/

Real time hex based, what? Hope it's good but it seems mini-game-fied for no reason, a proper game only held back by the lowest supported device's specs rather than a casual gamer targeting could have been cool too...

Good to hear, gonna grab LoE1 then and try it out first.

Woah, thanks for alerting me to this.

It doesn't? It's in the appstore though? I'm scared of downloading because I haven't played ME3 yet and don't want to get spoilered... Can anyone tell me if the codex entries contain ME3 spoilers?

Oh, I was just saying that I had no idea that it was even on the store. I was saying thanks for alerting me that it exists. I don't really want to be a guinea pig to see if it does have spoilers though. :\

Power of Coin is wicked addicting.

I screwed up in the start, didn't realize what prizes did and I kept selling them for coins.. d'oh.. what a waste of time doing that was!!!

What.. do they do? And as stated, Dungeon & Coin is more "satisfying" and gives way more coins. No having to wait a half a day for them to fill back up.

Oh I thought you were thanking him for alerting you that it was NOT working on the iPhone and I was confused as for why it wouldn't, when it's in the appstore... So I'm pretty sure it's working? Not exactly sure why LuchaShaq thinks it's not working, but like I said... I'm too scared to actually download it.

It works fine on my 4S. I've started the game today (played it for 2 hours) and it doesn't seem spoilerific as long as you have any idea what ME3 is about, with galactic readiness and stuff.

Also, since the "game" itself is time based, it might be a good idea to start as soon as possible.

I just remember the codex in ME1/2 having entries along the lines of "after the events on x", where X was something that was actually IN the game, and I don't want to read a codex entry on anything that might happen in ME3...

:/ wat

It won't expire or anything, it's more like the thing in Assassin's Creed where you could send assassins to places to do missions and it'd take a certain amount of real world time to complete. You can deploy troops around the galaxy to improve your readiness, missions take time and reward you with money to improve your fleet (no iap to speed this up). Not much of a "game" but it's a nice addition to the codex and useful to have. There's also a section where you get little messages from your crew based on where in the game you are. Really good for a free app!

TBH, I haven't touched the codex, exactly for these reasons.

And yes, the mini-game that comes with the data pad is pretty bare. From what I've tried, it's essentially the assassin assignments from AC Brotherhood and Revelations: you send squads on missions that will last x hours and increase your galactic readiness. It's more an add-on to an app than a real game.

(sorry, no multi quotes on second apps)

Edit: hah, beaten.

I recommend everyone check out Hookshot Inc. It's a site focusing on downloadable games costing less than fifteen dollars. The iPhone-centric writing is way better than what anyone else is doing (I find the coverage on sites such as Touch Arcade and Slide to Play overenthusiastic and generally very poorly written), and with high-profile writers such as Simon Parkin and Christian Donlan, they appear to be positioning themselves as the Rock, Paper, Shotgun of downloadables.

Found this great article about how AppStore "saved" Revolution Software (Broken Sword). I was very surprised with the kind of number he's giving. Over 5 million downloads for an adventure game is crazy, even if half that was at the price of free. In one day there was 2.5 million downloads (the day it was free), so now you have a couple million of people getting to know the franchise for the first time.

Man, Infinity Blade 2 keeps running pretty damn nicely on iOS 5.1 and is totally the shit now. Loving it. Guess this was why I was wowed again by Glowfish as well, overall graphics performance got a boost. Probably because they really needed to optimize things a bit to get the best performance out of the new iPad with the insane resolution.

Holy Shit, 2.5 million on the free day? I was one of them and I have to say, I would easily pay the money, it was a great game. Fun, long, well made, with an awesome story and cast.

2.5m downloads on a single free day is huge. The most we have ever seen is about 500k, and that's when we were hitting the top of the US charts too.

I'm So glad you like it. You seem to really get what this game is about.

You might now know this but the game tracks everything a player does. We use that data to fix problems with the gameplay. We just got a result of someone playing an endless level for more than an hour! He found a spell combination that was perfect for that set of enemies. He earned more than 6000 stones :D

Wow! I've been stuck on the endless level for the second map, I can't even get past the second wave. The combo of the arrow guy and the bomber whittle me down fast, and then the big skeleton comes along and finishes me off. I have a feeling the trick is to balancing haste with healing but I'm crapping out at the moment! Still got a lot to learn, especially with comboing the powers like that.

I really want to get into Beat Hazard Ultra, but I can't since they don't let you play shared music from iTunes. Not sure if its a technical limitation or what, but it sucks. I don't keep any music on my iPad since its only a 16GB.

iTunes Match is a great fix for this! Without connecting my iPhone to anything or without any other device of mine having to be on, I can choose to just download what I want from my entire library and whenever downloaded music takes up too much space, I clear it by deleting Music in the Settings.

Hmm, sweet, I'll look into that. Doesn't it cost money though?

This looks cool, its free until Friday.

Some adventure game i believe.

About $25 a year but if you stop paying you still keep everything, you just can't add more until you start paying again.

Reading more about it, it does sound cool. $25 a year isn't bad at all. Not really sure how I feel with "sharing" my music collection with Apple though. RIAA wise at least.

I'm done buying any more games until I get confirmation of iPad Retina support.

I wouldn't count on it for 3D games. At least not for the actual in-game rendering. I'm curious to see how this will pan out in the coming months. Fingers crossed for maximum adoption. I think we'll see a lot of updates within the first week of release, as many devs are already preparing and simply waiting to get the thing in their hands, just like us.

Also PopCap will probably wait until iPad 4 to support it LOL.

Loved Samurai Bloodshow, will buy this as soon as it hits. I'm happy the first one did well, which I'm assuming it did given the existence of the sequel.

Who else is playing assassins creed recollections ? It's no magic but it scratches a card game itch I've been having recently. Am I missing out on any other cool card games for iOS?

As said, I'm not sure where they do it (Canada only?), and probably not all Starbucks... Try a different Starbucks? Haven't gotten around to going to one yet :/

I'm in Canada. I've only ever seen songs at Starbucks. Is there a particular day when they switch it up? Maybe the one I went to was waiting for the songs to run out to put out the next week's codes.

Well I don't know where exactly you live, but here in Vancouver I've definitely seen some stores only carrying songs and some carrying apps, so I'm pretty sure it varies. But yes, it might wait until it runs out of codes to change it up as well :/

don't see it posted here... but chaos ring 2 launch trailer.

Looks a lot like the first one... with more production value. Some sweet looking bosses.

on a happy note. The trailer is in ipad aspect ratio... so... maybe a SE universal app????

nah.

It's also probably gonna cost like a billion dollars

Oh crap, Chaos Rings 2 is out this week?

Came out of nowhere! I didn't know.

Hope it's a reasonable price. I hope I don't have to get a $25 iTunes card for it, hope a $15 will do!

Same here. I'm also trying to figure out whether I need to hold onto my iPad 2 for the games that I already own. So many conflicting reports online...half say they'll look 'exactly' the half and the other half say they'll look as bad as a low-definition source on an HDTV :/

Most iPhone apps still don't support Retina despite there being two models now with Retina.

With only one iPad model with Retina, don't hold your breath for iPad Retina apps.

I downloaded the Assassin's Creed... card game? I haven't tried it yet. Is it worth playing? A card game on iOS sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I loved Metal Gear Acid and Cardfighter's Clash. Is this anything comparable to those ?

I haven't played either of those two, but i'd say it has some similarities to magic the gathering. AC: Recollection is definitely fun though and very polished.
