I find gta3 doesnt really work so well on iPad. First, in order to turn the camera you have to touch the character/vehicle and drag, which is quite a reach. Second, the autoaim lock on really isnt working for me. I have yet to figure out how to toggle between targets, so it becomes a matter of just killing everyone until the lock on gets the right guy (and since rotating the camera is such a chore, it makes it that much more difficult). Lastly, I can't even figure out how to drive and shoot (another command that originally involved R2/L2, so maybe I'm just missing something here).

Other than these core issues, the game is amazingly competent. It looks great on my iPad 2, it runs flawlessly, and the remainder of the controls work well for me (though as with many other virtual sticks on iPad, I find the size of the stick a little too large, requiring me to drag my finger more than I'd like to get the character to move). I find driving around the city and listening to the radio quite enjoyable, while even the early missions give me problems because of the camera and shooting controls.

I haven't played more than 5 minutes of Chinatown Wars, but it certainly seems like the better choice for the platform. The simpler camera alone removes so many issues. That said, I will still buy Vice City (my favorite GTA) if it ever comes out, if for nothing else but to cruise around, listening to the radio.

Chinatown Wars. Easily. Not only its the better game, it's also far more suited to touch controls.
Thanks guys. I kind of figured this was the case but wanted some first hand knowledge.

It's okay. Way too short, it ends when things are about to get interesting. Doesn't look like they will release more episodes.

Edit: actually, it looks like the dev IS working on the next episode. Cool, I'll probably buy it, the story is interesting.

Yeah, really great game, but I was very surprised by just how short it was. Feels like more of a demo.

Civ Rev for iPad just dropped to $1.99. Anyone have impressions?

I bought the iPhone ver a few years back, but never really got into it because it's a bit janky (I assumes its a DS port, based off of how it looks). Things like terrain feature disappearing when you scroll the map, and the low quality combat visuals. I love Civ Rev on console, and would love to have a portible version. Obviously the game should benefit from the iPad's larger screen, but are there any other differences between the iPhone and iPad versions?

Didn't think I would like Plague Inc, but I do. Fun stuff.

This was a good week. Satisfied with all of my buys.

Autumn Dynasty (game of the week for me), Gratuitous Space Battles, Slingshot Racer, LostStar Tactics, Plague Inc and Subway Surfers. All worth it. Though GSB was perhaps a bit overpriced, but the game is fun.

So, I reinstalled Windows. I moved my iTunes apps folder to a portable hard drive before reinstalling, and have now moved it back after reinstalling iTunes. Now iTunes will not list my apps.

Should this theoretically work, or is there some kind of anti-piracy thing going on here?

EDIT: Nevermind, got it working. Had to copy over a few database files that I missed the first time.

Oh!Cube is super awesome. The only bummer is that sometimes it doesn't fully recognize taps, which could lead you to getting sloppy and making a mistake.

Other than that, it's incredibly awesome. I bought it before it went free, and I don't regret it at all.

It seems it doesn't recognize taps if you move your finger in the slightest, because it thinks you want to turn the camera around.

And it makes the game unplayable for me. Picross is about relaxation and keeping your mind honed on the puzzles, not fighting over the horrible controls and being too distracted to think.

Baaahh, it's not that bad. I've found that just quickly tapping with your nail works great.

Breaking News: Man claims to have capacitive nails - are we evolving?
:lol I don't mean literally with just the fingernail, but more with "the tip of your finger as if you were tapping your fingernail on a surface." If your fingernails aren't long, your finger will quickly hit the device.
I hope you don't find this creepy at all, but I want your fingernails.
No you don't. After the cancer, they turned really gross.

I don't want to clog up the thread with this, but I'm interested in how you're doing. How are the treatments coming? Are you posting updates somewhere?

I'll try and update this thread later today: http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=467479

I'm doing alright. Finally got out of the hospital, and now I'm in a hotel close to the hospital for at least a month. Had a really rough day yesterday, but I'm definitely getting better, overall.

I also think that the finicky nature of Oh!Cube's controls make it frustrating and not worth playing. Literally all I can think about while playing it is how much of a chore it is because my taps rarely register.

Also, becoming free after less than two weeks on the market? Nice. I feel like a sucker.

Damn those canadians!

Annihilated 99.99% of mankind. Every single nation of the world devastated, the worse possible apocalypse happened. Every single nation, with the exception of one. Only one country stood to develop a cure and save the world at the last second. Damn you Canada! Saviors of mankind. Have fun repopulating the world.

Plague Inc is awesome.

Greenland is the new Madagascar.

Oh my God.

I'm about to go on an 8-hour road trip to a week-long vacation, and I actually considered bringing my iPhone as my sole gaming device. I actually have quite a few RPGs installed on it that I haven't beaten. WTF. I'm sitting here loading up DS games just to avoid the sense of shame.

There's nothing wrong with that, but you'll kill your iPhone battery pretty fast. That being said, the DS is obviously a better choice, generally speaking. Especially if you're expecting long gaming sessions.

Cross-posting a challenge from the iOS board-game thread:

Issuing a challenge to GAF: Beat Ghost Stories on Normal with random everything (4P). :D Not a firsties thing; I'll just be impressed if anyone can do it.

Going to be spending a little while myself trying it out....

Ghost Stories is so fun, I just need to remind myself to come back to it. Kinda wish it had achievements for random motivation.

What's ghost stories?

Been trying to get into Final Fantasy Tactics but I think the game is too hard for me, I seem to get too many of my characters killed off and I just started!

The beginning of the game is really hard. Once you start leveling up your jobs and figuring out the game mechanics things will get easier. Stick with it. It's a great game.

Good to hear man.

Came here to post that I just bought Tigris & Euphrates for $.99, and now you're enticing me to get into Ghost Stores, Astro.

Also for anyone who cares, Battle Nations is getting some hefty support as of late. It's still good off-and-on fun for me.

And that Plague Inc game - I got Pandemic 2.5 for free through one of the free app dealies (forgot which one), and didn't really care for it. Seemed too confusing/boring and didn't like the presentation. What makes Plague Inc that much better? Games like these make me overly superstitious, just like the movie Contagion did. :lol

Actually, seems they have expired already. Let me pull some new codes to send you guys. Give me 15.

Edit: Done. Or not. Sending codes to myself now.

Edit2: ok. Now I'm done.

Does the iPad version of FFT suffer from the horrible skill/spell lag that shows up in the PSP version?

Edit: NM, apparently not, though there seem to be plenty of other concerns.
