Man, Galaxy On Fire 2 is pissing me off so much. I really, really want to like it, but things keep getting in my way. It just seems really hard. I keep dying all the time, even on easy. Also, I hate how you can agro guys from AOE damage really easily. Oh, and not being able to save unless you are in a station.

Stay in the safe sectors to save up money mining and doing simple missions. Make sure you buy a nice shield upgrade and the best weapons you can buy. Once you amass 30k+, you can buy a nicer ship with more options (turrets, multiple main and secondary weapons, space for a tractor beam and self-repair bot, etc).

It's slow to start, but I've played for just over 3 hours and I'm on track now. Seriously worth the effort (playing on Normal).

Yeah, I've been doing a bit of that, but I guess not enough. Do you remember the mission where you have to kill a couple void guys (first time), and then go through a wormhole? After that some wormholes keep opening and closing, and I guess you have to jump through one before it closes. I tried just making a beeline to one, and I got killed, then I tried again, this time killing the 3 ships, and then heading towards them, but once I started getting closer, 3 more void guys spawned and promptly killed me.

Playing Broken Sword for the first time and it's pretty awesome. any other adventure games I should check out? Already played AA and Ghost Trick.

This is what Free to Play Metal Slug looks like...

(Thankfully, it looks like you'll do some proper shooting between the FarmVille bits. But still...)

The Hector games are very funny, and have good puzzles. Machinarium is hard, but beautiful - a real treat, that one. Make sure you get the two Monkey Island ones, as well as Broken Sword 2 and Beneath a Steel Sky.

Didn't know Machinarium was on here. Have it on pc and it is indeed hard. I'm totally buying Monkey Island and Broken Sword 2 though. Thanks.

Looks like Mushihimesama Futari / Bug Princess 2 Black Label is Cave's next iOS game. Kind of an odd choice, but whatever. I'm down. Boss rush mode seems like fun.

Looks like the original Mushi bosses are included in Boss Rush. Looks great except for "Purchase items to enhance your weapons!"

BP2 is my most played iOS game so adding Black Label will be amazing. Futari Black Label is my most played 360 shmup at the moment. Hope it comes sooner rather than later. This summer I'm guessing? (listed TBD)

Why does it seem that every iOS dev that posts here is super successful either critically or commercially?

Where are the crappy working man devs that I can relate to?

Even the one-men crews like the guy who made Gunman Clive seem to be doing great. They make it seem easy...

Whoa, you guys didn't tell me a Pixel Slime sequel came out.

Trust me, we're not successful yet. Our previous game Kids vs Goblins was a horrible commercial failure :D. We worked on it for a full year! We spent every single cent we had in that game. And we almost got nothing back.

Which ichi we took a different route. The press loves the game, and first day sales are rather promising. But we're not out of the woods yet.

Back to work on The Village!
Don't worry, we're working on it. This photo was taken 1 minute ago.

We're making the 3d model for the bakery seen on our blog: www.stolencouchgames.com.

That's odd...At the start of the game? I never remember having to do that, haha. May double check that mission and see what the objectives are!

Wasn't there a terrible bug with KvG? I know I bought it (but haven't played it yet)
When the iPad3 game out it didn't work on that device. So we had to pull the game from the store and wait until we could fix it (iPad 3 hadn't been released in our territory yet). But it's fixed now.

Wasn't Kids vs Goblins iPad 2 only? Is Ichi more open to other devices this time?
We learned from that mistake :). You can play ichi on everything. Maybe even your fridge.

Congratulations on your amazing exposure Bamihap.

So... How did you make that happen?
By having an awesome game :D. I just contacted people, shared the word about the game. Demo's, a nice clear message. etc.

It's the first time we're doing pr/marketing. We have a long way to go, but I'm happy were we are now. But we're not done yet.

Not ipad 2 only, I own it on my 4S ;) congratz guys on Ichi! :)

Also, after owning like... 4 games by First Touch Soccer, I think I'll skip the Euro game and wait for their "full" sequel. By far the best soccer series on iOS, Euro is probably awesome too :p

Ok, so that's two devices out of a whopping... shit I cant even count

At least you figured this out for Ichi.

Well, quick Uplink review:

It's very fun so far. I was a big fan of the PC version, and it translates pretty well to iOS.

Obviously there's no mod support, so that hurts it a tiny bit, but the base game is pretty entertaining.

There's two downsides -

1- The keyboard is annoying. When you have to type stuff in, it becomes really cumbersome. The bank money transfer missions are going to be a complete pain using this, because time is always of the essence.

2- Tapping on the little arrows to increase CPU allocation to software *really* often turns into me tapping the mini-map, which means I lose time in a hack, which is annoying.

If you don't know what Uplink is, basically it's a "hacker simulation" that is pretty well-done. It feels like you're a "movie hacker" - to hack into a server, all you need to do is hit a software that does password hacking and bam, you're in.

The game plays as such: you're an unknown hacker starting in the business, becoming an Uplink Agent. To get started, you are initially given a gateway computer, stored safely within Uplink's facilities. Your goal is to slowly climb your way up the ladder, performing missions for various unknown corporations around the world.

To do so, you're given a set of tools: software, hardware and gateways. Using software, you'll hack into systems, delete crucial files, copy files for clients, modify criminal/school records, steal money, etc. There's lots of software with many different grades; there's 4 grades of the Log Deleter software, for example. The first one simply deletes a log while leaving a blank spot - this shows that something has happened, but the system's owner doesn't know what. The other grades make your modifications to logs harder and harder to detect, while the grade 4 one makes it fully impossible to detect, making your intrusions almost impossible to trace back.

When you're doing a hack, you first set up the connection: the server you're hacking will actively try to trace and find you, so you can set up bounces: additional servers you connect to before reaching your destination. The more bounces (and apparently the greater the physical distance between them) the longer it'll take for a trace to find you, so you'll have more time to do your dirty deed.

Then you get on the server. Usually, they have an logon screen, which you have to hack using your password breaker software, then you gain access to the server and do what you have to do (delete files, copy files, etc).

When your mission is over, you (hopefully) delete the logs to make yourself untraceable, then reply to your employer that the mission was completed, who then promptly pay you.

This goes on and on and on until the bigger storyline triggers - I won't spoil it for you guys but it's pretty fun.

Outwitters, the next game from the Tilt to Live devs, is on track to be submitted next week. It's an asynchronous strategy game that allows for 1v1 and 2v2 battles. You get a set amount of points each turn to spend on moving, attacking, building units or whatever. The teams share 5 units and each team has one special unit unique to it. Units can be built any turn at your base as long as you have the required points, battlefields have fog of war, the game has built in leagues that vary according to skill level, etc. It looks like it'll be a lot of fun and should scratch my asynchronous strategy itch now that I got tired of Hero Academy.

Wait what?

What is this ichi game?

Lack of YouTube in china makes it quite hard to figure out puzzle games lol.
It's as puzzle game in which you control all the action with a single tap. It also has a level editor and online sharing of levels.

Hope you will try it out!

Tilt to live developers? That is a fucking fantastic game. I will buy their new game just to repay them for the fun I had ,and still have, with Tilt to Live.

(Thankfully, it looks like you'll do some proper shooting between the FarmVille bits. But still...)

So, basically, it's The Stratagems with a Metal Slug coat of paint.

Slingshot racing is up on freeappdaily, and it's a universal app.

Yeah, nabbed it the other day. Erased it shortly after. Not a bad game at all, and very attractive, but not my thing. Kinda mind-numbing to me.

just bought an iphone and wanted to ask if there was a game similar to elite beat agents.

Osu!stream
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/osu!stream/id436952197?mt=8

A few music packs you could purchase if you enjoy the game.

I haven't played this game in a while and I just noticed it was updated last month. 2 free songs! Really enjoyed this game and will be getting back into it sometime today.

The game, itself, is free to download. There's also an iPad version.

Cytus is...Not syncing right for me. It's unplayable as a result. :(

Really? The miles-wide timing window is supposed to compensate for the game's performance issues (lol)

In all seriousness, the Cytus team has promised a judgement system overhaul, but that was months ago. All we've heard from them since is that they apparently put on a concert in Taiwan (wut) and are starting a cross-promotion with a brand of noise-isolating earbuds I've never heard of.

I think the best music game experience on iPhone right now is Groove Coaster, but the newly released O2Jam S looks promising too - but I need to spend more time with that one before I can call it.

If you have an iPad, jukebeat/jubeat plus is easily the best music game on the market in my book.

Agreed.

Regarding Cytus, I just feel like hitting things in beat puts me in a really odd position on the note. If they ever overhaul it, I'll happily play it again. Until then, Jubeat/Jukebeat are the clear music game champ.

Uplink review.
I downloaded this yesterday, having heard great things about the PC version, but never having played it. As a literal novice, the initial challenge of the game is getting to grips with the UI.

Even now, after a couple of hours playing, I am still struggling with it. This is probably because of the hectic nature of missions, and I get a bit stressed out remembering what it is I have to do, consulting the mission brief, deleting or copying the appropriate files and navigating the hacked terminal to find the Log list all at the same time.

And I don't really mean "struggling" in a bad way. It requires familiarity and a bit of thought, so missions are arguably a bit more challenging for me at the beginning of the game, having not played anything like it before. But nothing is going to stop me getting to grips wi it. I'm fucking loving it.

Question: Should I be aiming to do everything the mission requires of me in one go? Cos hunting down those logs to delete is a serious strain on the time limit. Hacking passwords just takes too long!

Also, I fucked up a couple of times, got caught out and am now unable to hack into a couple of terminals. Will I get the ability back, or am I destined never to hack those companies again?

And what are the odd little icons to the right of the server list on the home screen? They disappear after a couple of taps.
