Yeah, I remember having to explain to an All Lives Matter friend of mine why it was pretty inconsiderate. It was similar to this comic, basically tried to explain that, say, someone just suffered a home invasion (or any crisis, really) and arrives at their neighbor's doorstep to seek help. The neighbor opens the door, hears out the situation, takes stock of his own environment, and then dismisses the person seeking help because everything is fine at that house.
"Black Lives Matter" is meant to say that "black people are suffering through a crisis that they wish to be recognized." "All Lives Matter" is saying "I don't see the problem, I'm fine and I think you're fine, too." Dismissive in the face of another's adversity, either out ignorance, fear, malice, or any combination.
EDIT: it's the same thing as taking feminism to not be a movement that is striving for egalitarianism as this game creator has repeatedly done in the past. Feminism rose and sustains because women are, in some ways, not at all treated on equal footing with men in society. To claim that egalitarianism is the answer, and not feminism, is basically taking stock of one's own male privilege without recognizing it as privilege, and then concluding that feminism must be inherently wrong for suggesting that things aren't already equal.

I dont know about that. Like Mel Gibson is a racist asshole, but I still enjoy Hacksaw Ridge, Braveheart, and Apocalypto.
The thing here isn't just that the views of the creator are fucked up, it's that those views form the foundation of the story, the world, etc. You can't separate the art from the artist here because the artist is the art, down to "feminism ruined society" is/was the backstory of the world and wanting to put "Vivian James" in as a character
And in such a narrative driven genre as this, that's a death blow for interest
I don't want to give money to a person that has shown sexist and transphobic views. It's that simple.
It might be interesting to engage in media that shows a ridiculous ideology to see how they try to portrait it but I'm not going to spend money there when there are other games more deserving made by better people.

Yeah, we'll see in the final game how the themes play out. The game is still on my radar. The only games I couldn't touch were Hatred and I wasn't wrong on missing out on that. We'll see if this improves or not.

While I'm glad to see that he's apparently recanted his anti-feminist stance, I'm not seeing a lot of action surrounding that change.

If it's gone, then yeah, I could see myself picking it up even if I disagree with some of its other themes. Anti equality isn't a position worth engaging with, though. From what I've seen this is mostly (solely?) dialog/narrative-based, so that commentary is going to be the whole game. I was keeping a tab on this before, but after all this came out, it's not even boycotting, I'm just not interested anymore (but I will keep an eye on it in case the recent statement is sincere).

If the game comes out on Xbox and the word is that it is as good as it looks and the story/theme doesn't have any obvious overtones, then I will probably get it if comes to another platform. I don't really give two shits about someone's personal opinion if it has nothing to do with his product. EDIT: Within reason anyway
