This is the whole point. There are many things i would call the last of zs but IT never was fun or enjoyable. Ut was depressing, vile and cruel. But because of this it was a fantastisch experience. And this games goes even Fürther. Its Designer to make you feel had for everyone you kill. Like enemies now all have names. Like enemies now communicate whith each other. How they react when you kill someone etc.

You can choose to NOT kill the dogs if it upsets you.

BUT the big question in a game about killing, disembowlement, jugular penetration, heads being blown off and murder on a mass scale, maybe this is not the most upsetting part of the game for you?

I mean, I thought the gameplay was fun and engaging. I enjoyed outsmarting the enemies and taking them out methodically on the harder difficulties.

You could do a lot of cool shit and set up some fun and interesting ways to take out enemies.

Doesn't matter how much you love dogs or even your pet if they suddenly come out trying bite your face off or your loved ones then you choose your own survival or your loved one over a dog.

Silent Hill 1/2
Call of Duty 4
Fallout 3
RDR

and so on. And now you are all of a sudden sensitive to killing a virtual dog in a video game but have no issue slaughtering females and slitting their throats? GTFO.
 
We shouldn't kill enemies either. It's not their fault that they had a bad upbringing or were abused in their childhood or were infected with a nasty fungus or simply have different opinions. They were robbed of their dreams, robbed of their childhood!
We should talk to them, stage interventions, sing songs, play board games, hug and gaze at the beauty of the world together. Digital life is too short to waste it fighting.
 
Well you have to kill a cute bunny rabbit in the first TLoU 1 - And there was a whole "mission" built around that. Game of the Year.

Call of Duty transcended video games and became a pop culture phenomenon. You stab dogs all the time in that game.

You can punch Wolves and kill their pups in MGS 1. The greatest game of all time.

If killing an animal in video game comes as such a surprise to you that it upsets you, You shouldn't even be playing games.

What next, SJW's pressure devs to undo months worth of programming to replace the dogs with android dogs or walking venus fly traps? Tins of beans with legs for comic relief and to cause minimal offence?

Yes, probably even more so! I mean this has to be antifa material, it's so horrible.

I kick dogs in real life, some owners have dangerous animals they can't control, you have to defend yourself otherwise you end up in the news. Sure those cute baby dogs nobody is going to kick them, even like 99+ of dogs are very nice and friendly. But a dog is a dog, they may not be very intelligent, but they do have agency and a will of their own, sometimes they are dangerous, in the case of TLoU2 they certainly are part of a group that is all about killing strangers, any strangers, no questions asked... The dog may not get all the nuances, but it does get the general idea, and he is part of the pack just as much as anyone.

Show some actual respect to other beings in nature.

You read too much into this.

Here is my mentality. Dogs have been constant companions since 12 years old. I have been with 4 dogs as they died, and it fucking broke my heart each time. I can make myself cry just by thinking about feeling their bodies stiffen as life left them, one moment there, the next gone. I do not want a game that forces me to remember experience those emotions because of some garbage narrative as with Wolfenstein 2. That is not fun, that is not entertaining to me. It is the same reason I will never play 'mom dying from cancer simulator.'

Druckman has no problem manipulating his audience to give them the feels, and yeah I'll definitely be waiting to play this one and reading spoilers before deciding to pick it up.
