The Last of Us |OT| It Can’t Be For Nothing (Spoilers)

Evolved1

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
I would seriously be down if Naughty Dog made Savage Starlight a new IP and had Zoe Saldana

I was speculating before (and as much as I wish it was) that I don't believe SS will be an actual thing. But, both Ewan Mcgregor and Zoe Saldana have a lot of experience working green screen / mocap. When the climate is there, they are the sort of big actors most likely to cross over into games.

Zoe would probably be more expensive (and seems the less likely candidate being busy with big movies) but Ewan hasn't done anything big in a while... Idk. Would be cool. But then games take forever to make... might be hard to get major talent to commit to something like that.

So I've been playing this on Hard and I just reached some
forest
area. I've not been crafting a lot of items, only a couple shivs actually, never fired my gun or used a boost. Sneaked most of my way through but the few melee encounters I've had was actually quite manageable. Figured I'd need all these health items further into the game or am I just being paranoid by saving too much here heh

I'll put in my vote for Nicolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaimie Lannister, Game of Thrones) for the main lead of Savage Starlight:

Just finished 'The Last of Us'. Not only is this the definitive GOTY, but its also my personal GOTY as well as GOTG. There are no words to describe the brilliance of this game. From the writing, to the acting, to the cinematography, everything was stunning! I applaude Naughty Dog for a masterpiece of a game, and I truly hope they can 1up themselves with whatever they put together next, because The Last Of Us is going to be very hard to top.

Hey I haven't given it my final review yet, but that doesn't mean shit - just saying "lol 33% through" is a really crap response to the comments that I've made about the game which I think are really relevant.

The game lacks polish - fact.
The combat is even more repetitive than Uncharted (up to this point I don't know if it changed) - semi-fact.
There is nothing more to it so far than moving from point to point collecting parts and items to make different weapons and items to fight enemies, there is no climbing, nothing more than a point to point stealth / combat shooter with great dialogue and great characters - fact.

What about this game makes it the game of the generation I cannot seem to fathom, it's way overhyped, but that's a perspective from just 33% through the game - lets see if it changes, I really REALLY hope it does because I am yearning for something more!

This is the kind of situation where I believe demanding a refund from the retailer or the developer if it doesn't get better would be warranted because the game hasn't delivered on what the the game has been marketed and reviewed to be - in australia at least consumer law states that a product should be able to function as described in marketing materials and so far I'm seeing nothing of that.

Edit - Just to clarify, this is me being overly harsh on the game, I'm still really enjoying it, it's a fantastic game, perhaps deserving of a 8 or 9 out of 10 but not all those 10's... no fucking way in the world. The Witcher 2 stomps all over it as game of the generation.

You've lost your fucking mind son. Holy shit.

This game is a fantastic commercial for PS4, in my opinion.

In that I am now very tempted to buy it just to follow what kind of games ND will release in the future.

Can anyone let me know how far into the game I am? I just
got the truck and then crashed the truck.

I don't know if I'd say "unpolished" but I have encountered two game freezes (one as I started the game, and another after my thirdish death) and sometimes have become infuriated with other characters blocking my path up ladders/jumps/narrow areas. I also dislike the weight of the character though it's perfectly justified with the number of supplies he carries, but that's just a personal irk and nothing to do with polish really.

About one hour after I finished the game I wanted to start it again.

Nice to see I'm not the only one. Guess I'll start a second playthrough tomorrow. ;D

you should try it on survivor difficulty. i usually don´t play any game on the hard/hardest difficulty, but i tried TLoU on survivor after the first run on normal. finished it last night and it was totally worth it! the intensity in combats without listen mode and the scarcity of resources forcing you to get creative shouldn´t be missed out on.
i´m already looking forward to my survivor+ game!

I really want to play it again because I absolutely loved the mechanics of the combat and stealth, but at the same time it was such a powerful experience the first time I fear that I'll be diluting my memory of it if I go again.

I keep loading up one particular section to just randomly take out a few dudes for a few minutes, and then I quit the game, because I don't want to face going through the emotions of the story again simply to have a fun time with the combat.

Perhaps I should try the multiplayer? I really have no interest in it, but if the mechanics are similar maybe that will fill the void...

Survivor really is the best difficulty.
I didn't find it hard at all really and had so much ammo from the early encounters i just went on a killing spree through the last 3 hours.

I see it too. But Berry has this flop curse going on. She just can't get a hit anymore.

It'd be safer to give the role to Zoe Saldana

Sci-fi? I'd like to see Naughty Dog do either I Robot or The Stars My Destination.

The Stars My Destination is in dire need of an amazing adaptation. Naughty Dog has undoubtedly proven their worth. But it would probably suffer the John Carter problem of seemingly being a rip-off after decades of other properties ripping it off.

Shouldn't be that hard considering Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe are acting in Beyond and DiCaprio would have acted Ethan Mars in Heavy Rain, but the tech wasn't ready at the time to accurately represent the performance of the actor in the game.

With PS4 this should be completely possible now. Also SCE has obviously good connections to Sony Pictures.

If it makes you feel any better, pitch black surroundings + only narrow flashlight beam to see started getting to me after long play sections.

Whoever at ND understood the importance of getting that flashlight just right, the entire team has you to thank for bringing the game's atmosphere to that next level.
Yup. I felt the same way after long sessions playing in dark areas.

Uh what's this Starlight thing? If it's new you may want a new thread...
It's old as fuck.

Yeah, that seems to happen a lot.

It's hard to imagine a lot of the book's themes nowadays except in terms of the things it inspired, especially cyberpunk. But at the same time, with some care and totally unique art design, I feel it could be portrayed in a kind of 50's retrofuture sort of way without ending up camp.

I started a survivor playthrough very briefly after completion, but I haven't been able to game at all really for the past two weeks. Really feeling like revisiting this one as soon as I can, more than I expected to. I know I missed out on a bunch of optional conversations/recordings and things, too...

This game, Omfg...

We've been playing it every night with my brother, and it's been amazing in every sense. That prologue...

We just finished the segment where
you travel with the 2 survivor brothers in the city
, and well we didn't see that coming...

Can't wait to see how everything resolves, but sometimes i wish i could play this forever, this days have been amazing...

And it only gets better. I wish I could play it again for the first time. This feeling I have had for very few things (Seinfeld, HL2 and a couple of movies), it's that good.

I ran into this issue as well, but I want to remember all of the incredible small things about the SP that I perhaps forgot or missed.

I tried multiplayer yesterday and it is actually a lot of fun. It stays true to the survival theme found in SP and it is built around a neat premise. I'll play it for a day or two and then start another playthrough.

Can someone help me here...

I started playing TLoU 2-3 days ago (got my copy very late)

The problem I'm facing is with the sound/audio.

I'm using Pulse Elite Headset and I have the volume slider all the way to the max.

Audio settings are all set to default, still the audio volume is extremely low.

Downloaded the TLoU preset today for the headset and updated it, activated the preset but still no change.

Can anybody help with this issue?

II loaned it to my brother in law for the week so he can try it, but I'm getting it back Sunday after my daughter goes back to her mother for her week and then I will start my Survivor run. Can't wait.

Pulse Elite Headset Audio profile for TLOU is finally out

https://twitter.com/Naughty_Dog/status/354823076187340801

Dang! I only have the first Sony 7.1 headset.
Pardon the ignorance but how difficult is it to patch in this audio mix into the game? I'm talking about an audio preset other than the "headset" option in games. One specifically made for Sony's 7.1 headset.

I think all games should have this preset tuned and incorporated into them.

Just finished my second playthrough. Feels good to get 4 trophies after the credits for doing survivor+. Gonna go through another time on easy or normal and try and get all the collectables and stuff. This game needs to be platinumed.

Question about starting a new game.

So I completed the game on normal. I want to do survivor next and then survivor +.
Do I select new game and then make a separate save file, or select new game and then save over the 100% normal file?

I did the first and it left me with two save files but my survivor one doesn't have all the collectables (about 100) that my previous file had. Is that normal? Is the counter cumulative across save files or just playthroughs on a single save file?

I haven't finished the game yet, and I haven't read ANYTHING in this thread yet, so please bear with me if this question has been asked numerous times.

I don't know how far in the game I am, so I can't give an exact spoiler warning. To be safe, only people who have finished the game should read this post. Warning, spoilers.

I just got to the part where Henry kills himself. I don't know if shooting the infected off Sam would have changed things at all. so my question is, does that part play out the exact same each time, or does your decision of which infected to shoot alter the game at all?

Please only respond regarding to the aforementioned part of the game. I don't want to know about anything after. Thanks!
