'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

The upgrade looks pretty marginal to me too. Compared with the upgrade in GTAV it's pretty striking. It's actually pushed me away from double dipping.

Agree, I was expecting more. That said it wont stop me from picking this up...I never bought the first one...just a rental.

What is this minor upgrade nonsense?

1080p at 60 fps with slightly improved overall graphical fidelity is not good enough??? Jesus Christ people...

The trailer is sort of a bad representation because 95% of it was cutscenes, which many people already know looked good because they were already using better assets than the playable moments on the PS3, albeit not at 60fps and 1080p.

The game is said to have upgraded textures similar to the ones used in the cutscenes, and a beefier light engine, which should be a pretty great difference when we see gameplay. 60 fps is also much more impressive when you feel it while playing (and is worthy of a second buy imo).

I guess they're still trying to be secretive about it until it's closer to release date. It's kinda frustrating nonetheless.

Well I'll reserve my final judgement until I can see more clearly what's actually upgraded. But from what I've seen so far I will not be double dipping.

Thinking about pre-ordering but I kinda want to play something good now. I'm thinking of buying wolfenstein: the new order, but I'm waiting for the steam summer sale to begin to see if it gets a small discount. God damn I was pumped up about the thought of getting this in june. How sweet that would have been.

It would have been sweet. I actually bought a PS4 from that Ebay deal that was going on (don't expect it to go any lower anytime soon). I half think I jinxed myself since the only reason I bought a PS4 then was in hopes that TLoU would come out in June. Oh well, not that far.

Yeah, I would like to see more. I think the upgrade will be worth it in the end, bit that comparison trailer does it no favors.

Are we really questioning Naughty Dog's ability when it comes to graphics? wow..Naughty Dog's body of work more than speaks for itself. I will agree they really hadn't shown much of the new remaster version, yet. However, I feel they will do that when it gets closer to the game's re-release.

Let me assure you that Wolfenstein is one of the very best games of the year and one of the best shooters ever made. Can't go wrong there.

Less than a month and a half on an already released game...show it already.

Already got mine pre-ordered, but I can't be the only person that hopes that if this does well, we'll get an Uncharted trilogy done in the same way. UC3 has some mind-bogglingly gorgeous art design.

I've already beat, TLOU, but man, I am excited for this release.

Seconded. Very strongly recommend Wolfenstein to any shooter fan!

Yea I'm pretty damn sold on it. What I've seen and read about it sounds amazing and as a little bonus I've for once managed to keep myself very unspoiled about the plot, enemies, weapons, locations etc. so it will be nice to go in relatively fresh :)

As far as the level of improvement to this remake, I will really have to see actual gameplay for the many reasons already said in this thread.

I don't get what's so difficult considering Uncharted 4's visuals at the same resolution and frame rate.

You speak like what ND are doing is some walk in the park stuff. Most devs are not pushing for 1080P/60 at the level of detail they (ND) strive for.

After your little scene on the other thread, you should watch what you post.

I can't wait to play the DLC for TLOU, as I missed it when I had the game for PS3. This, plus the new difficulty level will be awesome. Top it off with a new excursion into the online MP with the highly enhanced visuals, and I foresee this being a great addition to my growing PS4 collection.

If you've already played through The Last of Us, definitely grab Wolfenstein. Game is incredible.

Glad this will be the first time playing TLOU. Also GTA V, both, but mostly TLOU R are the reasons I bought the PS4 early, I thought I would get it in 2015.

It was extremely difficult because it was coded for PS3 which is a completely different architecture to the PS4, maybe have a read of this, it might give some insight into how amazing it is they were even able to get it working on PS4.

We expected it to be Hell, and it was Hell. Just getting an image onscreen, even an inferior one with the shadows broken, lighting broken and with it crashing every 30 seconds… that took a long time.

Shredderi, Wolfenstein is a regrettably an underrated gem that should not be overlooked. It harkens back to the glory days of challenging FPS that were a staple to PC gamers. Do yourself a favor and pick it up.

I'm honestly very excited to play TLOU with fresh eyes, moreso the way that the Naughty Dog likely intended gamers to experience it in the first place (1080, 60 fps). Being a 360 gamer this past generation, so far I'm very content with my switch to the PS4.

Completely different architecture.
NaughtyDog is notorious for heavily optimizing for a specific hardware and the Ps3 was pretty exotic compared to the Ps4.
So getting that Ps3 based code to run on the Ps4 was probably a huge pain in the arse.

Its not like you can just put that stuff on a more powerful machine and it'll just run there and you can crank up resolution and framerate.

I really wish they would just offer a 10 or 20 dollar digital upgrade option. I want the game. I want it on PS4. But I feel incredibly slighted. The game is barely a year old. Same goes for GTA.

If I'm typing it, then obviously I'm watching it, and if I'm watching it then chances are a mod is too. If a mod is, then we don't need a junior g-man like you telling me to "watch what you post".

This is actually pretty cool to read. Thanks for the decent reply to my mostly to tongue-in-cheek post.

I'm surprised they haven't released a demo or gameplay trailer. Maybe they're preparing one for the end of the month/next month.

Since I understand the confidence and to contain spoilers, but wouldn't hurt to release the E3 demo but on the Remaster or something.
