'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

"Framerate: targeting 60 fps source"

why does a next gen console struggle do add a few frames to a last gen game?
next gen, when will you arrive?

Because porting a game so intricately designed for PS3 to anything else is like trying to fit a sphere through a square hole. You might be able to do it, but its not easy

How do people not understand this.
This isn't a engine built on a scaleable system that can immediately take advantage of a better GPU, CPU and Ram.

Everytime I see this thread I'm like "holy shit is there any new gameplay footage" and it's just you guys bumping this thread.

Geez mom stop it.

I really like the battery recharge thing too, but I also wouldn't miss it at all if it was removed. So if it really bothers people, maybe they should.

I'm guessing it's a bitch to port a game coded for the CELL to any other system.

I'm kinda hoping they figure out a convenient way of doing it, so they can pass the info on to another dev for the Uncharted trilogy. Can't see ND doing it themselves

Don't know if this has been pointed out yet, but you can now get $20 back in rewards points from Kmart for purchasing TLOU:Remastered, and they've dropped the price to $50 like everyone else. Doesn't qualify for free shipping unless you add at least $10 more worth of items (I added Destiny, which also has $20 back in rewards, and used a $10 coupon, so it was $100 for the two games plus $40 in rewards coming back to me).

A Arne sighting! I can't wait to play TLOU again, but this time on my PS4. I see there is an amazing steel book cover for The Last of Us Remaster overseas. I know a ton of folks would love to have that cover in the USA. Any chance of a 'merica release for it?

I am replaying now the game on PS3 for my Grounded + trophy and boy... what a marvelous looking game this is...

when you realize what they accomplished with this hardware, its just mind boggling...

Yes there are jaggies, but seriously the tech on display here is just phenomenal... I still cant find a game with a better animation than this, anywhere. Its not just the basic moves, its the subtle touches that make this game feel so real. The characters do a ton of sublte animation moves, contextual and not.

And the attention to detail... my God... you enter a room and it tells a story by itself, by looking around you see and get a picture of the final moments some people had in this room....

In office buildings, no office desk is the same, each has a different set of pictures, a different setup, it looks like it was someone's office and its different from all the others... how many games do that?? How many developers sit down and make sure each office desk feels different than the other, and not like a clone of 1000 same desks?

Its amazing, Naughty Dog's attention to detail is second to NONE...

Friendly reminder that Crafter 3 in MP is the best and you can never go back after using it

I never leave home without it. I used to run with a few guys who all had crafter 3. By the final rounds of survivors we were all fully loaded up with full mollies, smoke bombs and nail bombs. The other teams rarely stood a chance.

Great for points also as you get 100 per gift. You can easily gift 15 times in a long match giving you 1500 extra points to feed your starving clan.

Yeah, I love taking my time going through an environment and just soaking up the details. Every object feels carefully placed, and even the colors chosen elicit a certain tone to match what is going on in the story. The only other developers i can think of that come close in terms of their dedication to environmental art and detail for storytelling purposes are Valve and Irrational.

Maybe it will be similar to the ps3 digital download which was directly from ND servers, and allowed you to play after about two thirds of the game had downloaded. It was much better than waiting for a download from the psn store to fully download and install which for a game this size would take ages.

Well, that's basically what "Play as You Download" is all about.
Which is a standard feature with PS4 games...

Ok... ya know what? I'm starting to get a little annoyed by this thread being bumped and Naughtydog not releasing any gameplay footage when the game is weeks away from going gold. That's fucking bizarre shit.

I'm not in "Are they even still on for the July release?" mode yet... but I'm getting there.

It's not that you're wrong; it's that your comment is stupid. I don't think that's how pricing works--so maybe you are wrong, too.

Multiple devs have state how much of a difference 60fps makes for the game and they even rerendered the prerendered sequences at 60. They've emphasized 60fps more recently than they did when they announced the remaster.

Lol maybe you should tell us why you're right?

Looks like you're just trying to connect dots that have no sense in being connected.

You win.

$1 per frame it all makes sense now. Thanks for the enlightenment, plexcide.

We've been getting ripped off for a whole generation! Most publishers have been charging almost $2 per frame!

This is why valve is so great, I can get almost three-hundred frames for a game that only costs $15, think of the value!

I never played the original, so I'm excited to experience this on PS4, but for some reason I'd like to try out the PS3 version to really see how much they pushed the hardware. :p Any high quality/"uncompressed" footage available? I don't want to get spoiled though.

The only 60fps footage is mostly cutscenes and filled with spoilers.

OK, thanks. It's not a big deal, maybe I'll pick up a cheap PS3 copy someday. And apparently the PS4 version is not THAT different from the original, so it should give me somekind of picture about what they managed to do with the last-gen hardware.

PS4 version would be the much better deal since it includes Left Behind plus all the enhancements.
