I'm right at the end of the game now. I want to say I'm still fully behind most of my glowing comments made in this thread, but I want to re-iterate so there's no disappointment:
* the game is shorter than you will want it to be.
* items are still set to two buttons, if you didnt like the inventory screen on GB before, you won't now either.
* a lot of gameplay isn't necessary. Kinstone fusion can result in reaching new areas (
Goron and friends
) or getting items (like the
light arrows
)... and at the other end of the barometer it can weild mere rupees, shells and treasure chests. How far you go into this quest and the Figurine collection is upto you.
"The current boss I am fighting is kicking my ass even when I have two fairies captured in bottles. I must be doing something wrong"
Why not use red potions?
Difficulty is pretty nice... at least for me. I got through the last dungeon with 4 red potions and 2 hearts left when i won... hearts is sorta scarce throughout the dungeon (well, i actually used 3 when I was figuring out how to beat the last boss). I don't believe games should make you "gameover" and have to continue a few times before they're considered hard.
and damn i missed the light arrows... pretty nice connection to luigi's mansion~~
Hope in the next DS zelda they'll explore it's new capabilities instead of just adding a map on the other screen. I trust this capcom team tho~~
Well, actually, using the touch screen to change equipment would already help a lot~~
I have a feeling EAD is behind the new Zelda on the DS. Firstly Aonuma was talking about it before Minish Cap was finished, and has also confirmed it's a new Four Swords (makes sense with DS's capabilities). Seeing as EAD worked on the last Four Swords for the GC, I'm expecting something from them rather than Capcom.
While I have no doubt it'd be a great game from either team, it'd be a real shame if we didn't see any more Capcom Zeldas. They're astonishingly good at them
So I just almost finished Minish Cap. I haven't actually beaten the last boss, though I
got through the first transformation and got a couple of hits in on the second
, but I've only got two bottles. If I went on to get the heart pieces to make up the 7 hearts I'm missing and found the other bottles, I reckon I could beat it. Don't know if I care to though, I'm not sure I can be bothered putting the time in again like I did with the last boss. I did it then because I knew there was plenty of game left to experience, which isn't the case now, and I don't play games to complete them or seean ending, I just want to have fun. Which this most certainly was.
This was mt first experience with the Four Swords mechanics, and they work fantastically well. I'd quite like to see it (or something similar, maybe controlling Link and Zelda together or Link and the characters he has to take through the dungeon, a bit like in WW) in the 3D Zeldas too. I don't think it would have worked overly well in the past games due to the camera, but with the fixed dungeon camera angles in the new Zelda, they could easily do it.
FYI the US demo should be arriving in gba sp kiosks everywhere. We got ours in at work today and played it on my DS it was awesome (before putting in the demo gbasp). You get to choose from the forest and two other areas in the game.
I just hope this game gets the attention it deserves come award time... etc. It coming out so early in the year (and so late overseas) may have people forget about it completely... which would be an absolutely travesty. This game is, simply, a must buy... best game I've played this year on the GBA.. perhaps even ever.
Man, no love for Adventure of Link on this board? Come on! I am Error! Shadow Link! Using the blood of the fallen hero to ressurrect the dead dark King! Nothin?
Anyway, I'll do the ranking thing for the hell of it:
1 Ocarina of Time
2 A Link to the Past
3 Link's Awakening (DX)
4 Majora's Mask
5 Oracle of Seasons
6 Oracle of Ages
7 Legend of Zelda
8 Wind Waker
9 Adventure of Link
10 Four Swords Adventure
