Funnily enough, I didn't plan to buy it, but at the price I felt like I had to. I'm not actually a huge Star Wars fan. I mean, I like the movies and think they are enjoyable, but I don't have any memorabilia or anything (until now, I suppose). My hesitance with diving into LEGO Star Wars is that the collector in me wants to complete sets, and the Star Wars theme is probably the most expensive theme to collect in LEGO. I do like the ship designs and will probably pick up the Millennium Falcon, X-Wing, and TIE Fighter at some point (actually TIE Fighter is on the way), but I have pretty much zero interest in the play sets.
Another reason to pick up the SSD, if I needed one, is that I was interested to build one of the truly massive LEGO sets, just to experience it. Coincidentally the biggest LEGO sets in print right now are both Star Wars sets, and I have zero interest in the Death Star.

I'll probably be starting the build some time next week. First I have to re-arrange and disassemble some other sets to make room for it. I've got 6 1.5'x4' shelves devoted to LEGO, and this thing is going to take one up all on its own!

Actually, pimping the Death Star is newer for me. But pimping Fire Brigade and getting others hooked on modulars has been quite successful. Of course, there are more enforcers out there with the modulars. The Death Star group is quite a bit smaller.

That is one set I refuse to look at interior details on. The way everyone raves about it, I want to go in as virgin as possible with it.
Next up is a great used complete piece set of the LEGO Titan XP 4508 for $10 at a garage sale. It came complete with the box & manuals too.
This is huge. No really, it is huge. You can tell the scale by looking at its fingers, they're minifig legs.
If you look at the front part of its shoulders you'll notice the front slopes pieces are black instead of grey. I confused the colors from the guide & i was too far in to replace them.
This set has taught me a lot on how to build LEGO gundams. Now I just need a lot of white pieces.

Was about to post that. And people should jump on it quick. Big sets like that are the first thing to go when they have these sales.
B2G1 free is actually a better deal than B1G1 50% off, since it's a 33% discount rather than a 25% discount. But knowing TRU, they'll jack up the price of all Lego (even more than they already do) just before the sale starts.

I know it is a better deal. It is also more out of pocket right now.
They had Haunted House listed last week, and that is the set I have been saving for. But this sale is too good to pass up, so Haunted House gets delayed until next year.
EDIT: And sale is still not working. Sitting around waiting for it to actually go active. Dammit.
EDIT: I dont think I can go for the big sets I really want in this sale. The plan was to buy only Haunted House and Diagon Alley next month after I got the money. But with B2G1 I can only get a few smaller sets right now. Well, by smaller I mean $99 or so.
So get three sets now, like Shuttle Expedition and VW Camper and put off Haunted House until next year and forget Diagon Alley? Or wait until next month for double VIP? URGH!

Also, talking to friends, it seems that when BN starts their clearance sales on Monday there will be Lego sets for 50% off at some stores. The local one pulled most of their Alien Conquest and POTC stuff from the shelf the other day, so going to hit stores Monday morning and try and snag some sets for really cheap.

Well, just tried to place an order on amazon. If you live in California, you now have to pay tax. Went into effect today. Amazon is still a great source of LEGO, with lots of great sales -- it's just not quite as good as it was.

Anyone know good stores for buying bagged minifigs? Walgreens marks theirs up to $3.50 (should be $2.99 right?), and IIRC TRU is the same. No LEGO store nearby. or Wal-Mart Maybe Target? Every time I visit their LEGO section I see no minifigs :/ I just can't stand the mark-up on minifigs... you are already barely getting any pieces for the price, and they have the nerve to mark it up further? Get outta here!

Target and Wal Mart are hit or miss for stock. BN has them marked up more than TRU. Although, TRU has gotten better and has them for $3.19 now instead of $3.50. So it is a little better. There is a store here called Five Below that has them for $2.99 and TONS of boxes, but it is only series 7. I keep checking them for series 8, but nothing yet.
And dammit. When will the TRU sale go live. I am weak and will bite, but I feel if i go to bed and try and order in the morning, all the awesome sets will be gone. Just like the last time they had a sale.
