We bought that one second hand. Iirc the front and rear could be separated and the container was housed in the rear.
I loved the ice planet space set. I wish theyd start bringing them back

Haha yeah I really like the look of some of the stuff Mega Bloks has put out (like the halo stuff) but damn if the quality isn't leaps and bounds below Lego (do not EVER use Mega Bloks with Legos).
While I do like Technic my problem is that they don't look aesthetically pleasing.
Yeah, this is pretty much my issue, too. I LOVE the functionality of Technic, but the fact that the final models all look a bit janky turn me off (compared to the System builds).
Just out of curiosity, are all those custom Lego builds built by stock pieces, or is every brick basically a painted custom? Is it part of the fun to find the correct colors, or rather to paint them?

Just came back from the Lego Store and ended up buying Mindstorm NXT 2.0 and U400 Unimog. Just occurred to me that I should buy some containers for them.

Mindstorm stuff is also very intriguing to me, but it lies in the same realm as Technic terms of the look. But the stuff you can create is mind blowing. Enjoy that set!
front and rear do not separate IIRC. Only the container in the rear does that.
You might be thinking of another similar set. I'll try to find it. FX Star Patroller perhaps.
So i got the lego bug again.
What a wonderful weekend![]()
This might be the one you're thinking of. The back separates and opens up to a mobile Health Centre. Awesome lego set. I still have mine, I just need to find out where it is.
So did anything ever come of the idea of a GAF MOC build? Everyone buying a cheap creator set and trying to build something out of the pieces?
I had a look online at the currently available creator sets and it's hard to pick a suitable set, it needs to be cheap enough that the barrier to entry for everyone is affordable but have enough pieces to allow for some variety in possible custom creations.
Yeah, I'd be in. One thing to keep in mind is availability of sets in different countries. Here in Australia we're generally a bit behind on set releases, though I'm pretty sure I've seen all the 2012 creator sets on the shelves here. Some other countries may not have access to them yet though.
There's always bricklink though
That's a good point that I didn't consider. Also, isn't a set that runs $20 here in the states significantly more expensive than the AUS equivalent of 20 USD? I thought I remember hearing about some ridiculous import fees on toys/games/etc from some friends who play Warhammer 40k.

Tempted again by Lego after browsing this thread... I want that space shuttle! Here's a few MOCs I did when I used to have more free time...

Aargh Lucas, get that fucking Darth Maul shit off my OT Star Wars LEGO packaging!
How much is the X-Wing? I want it.
Same price on Amazon with free Prime shipping! Thanks! BOUGHT. Will do this after I'm done with my two Architecture projects.
Those mini creator sets seem popular. Three people in this thread bought them this weekend.
how about a buy/sell/trade thing in here? Or is there an official thread in OT that we can post in? I don't think I'd be selling enough to make it worth setting up a bricklink store.

On this note, anyone know why Amazon prices vary so much? Was looking at the Space Shuttle, and it's $44 more than the LEGO Store, other prices are the same, and some are lower than the LEGO Store (like the Imperial Shuttle).

I'm back on the Lego buzz and today was a good day:

Man, this si going to get me building Legos again.
Picked up the new X-Wing on the weekend after finding a store with 20% off of LEGO

The mechanism to make the wings move between normal and attack positions is ingenious!
The PotC sets are being phased out by July, so expect to see them disappearing from store shelves soon.
They are quite nicely designed - 3 different models in each pack and only a fiver a time.
