So my kids keep telling me that Lego is going to release thee superhero minifigure packages any day now. Is this true? Will they just be in the little $3 packs like the existing 'generic' minifigures?

That's nothing that I've heard. There's a Batman polybag that'll be a $3-$5 set but that's pretty much the same kind of 20-30 piece polybag set that they've always made for checkout lanes and such. There's Collectible Minifigure Set 7 that's out now and Set 8 that's coming in the summer, but those aren't based off anything licensed. Finally there are 3 DC and 3 Marvel $15 sets that are like Bionicle or Hero Factory figures, not standard minifigs. So no, this is news to me.

Soon...
(When my medical bills for last year are refunded...)

Mine is supposed to arrive February 9 (so much for 4-7 days shipping), so I'll try and post some pictures of the building process that night.

I have high expectations for this - it's the kind of set I dreamed about when I was a kid.

Only got this today as a deal and the fact I'm away for a few days with work and wanted to do some with him before I fly down South tomorrow.

Gona wait a few weeks now and get a deluxe blocks set with some wheels to make some random stuff.

Isn't there a big (relatively speaking) model of a pirate ship based on PotC?

There have been a few (I think?)...two currently in print.

I don't think either of them is quite as big as the Imperial Flagship, which was recently discontinued, but somebody else would have to confirm that.

But to answer your question, microscale (to me) isn't really any specific scale in general, merely a feel.

Ah, okay. That's the impression I've gotten -- it seems like I've seen the Star Destroyer and the Super Star Destroyer both being called "microscale" even though they're vastly different scales. And something like the Mini Modulars is a huge scale compared to the Star Destroyer.

Yup - it's all completely relative. The Mini Mods are microscale Modulars. The Death Star is a microscale of the real Death Star. The Super Star Destroyer? Yup, same idea.

Really, microscale is more about building for an image. That micro-city I posted looks like something from Katamari. You can still see and feel that it's a full city and can imagine it full of excitement, but the real details are not in the tiled roofs and the window frames and the brickwork, but more in the way a few little pieces can give you the impression that you're looking at an office building or a mall or a parking garage.

Microscale and sculpture work <3

Finally gave in. Took my little boy (almost 3) to his first trip to the Lego Store. He kept walking around, excited about all the 'Wegos'. Bought him a little Dino set and the big pick a block bucket. Came home and spent an hour putting the Dino set together (awesome Jurassic Park vibe) and building random stuff with the rest. It was great.

It has begun.

Are those models use bricks or specialized bricks for the body rather than large plastic pieces? And do they float? :D

How much? Is the deal still on?

Yeah, microscale is quickly becoming my favorite style of Lego. It's really impressive how certain models can evoke so much detail with so few bricks. It sort of reminds me of pixel art, but even more interesting in many ways.

Does anyone know if the VW Camper Van is to minifig scale? If so, I'd like to pair it up with the upcoming hippie minifig:

I think it is reasonably sized for that yes but don't quote me on it. A good way to try and confirm is maybe the youtube videos where people show interiors, or hoping a van owner here answers.

EDIT: looking myself this video shows some scale at 4:40, and comments about "drivability" by a minifig at 6:15(seems to me you can easily sit the guy on the wheel and it would look right)

I found the instructions online, and pieced together this set. Only $20!!

The only piece I found missing was a small 1x1 with a hook, but that piece is manageable.

Just found out that my X-wing and Tie Fighter shipped. I can't remember the last time I was so bloody excited waiting for a package to arrive!. Best weekend in a long time incoming!.

Here is a size comparison of the Imperial Flagship, Queen Anne's Revenge, Black Pearl and the Brickbeard's Bounty.

I7Fsx.jpg

The Flagship is much larger than the others, having a full deck above the cannons. The Flagship also has roughly 1700 pieces, compared to 1100 on the Queen Anne and 800 on the Black Pearl.

That said, I think all of these ships are great, as they each bring something different.

So im finally getting this for my 23rd birthday :) a little late but better late then never.

Wow that's awesome, where are you getting it? Everywhere I've looked online it goes for at least 1000+ dollars.

I want a Millenium Falcon but I'm probably gonna settle on the mini-fig scaled one that came out recently.

Started on the Shuttle Expedition, and finished the orbiter. Very creative construction, and am amazed how compact the landing gear mechanics are. Will put the rest together tomorrow.

If you're into it, check out the creator series buildings. The Log Cabin is about $30 I think.
Mmm, it's more cute that badass. lol

Looks like the X-Wing Starfighter 9493 is the best price badass ratio. Which is 60$, but, yeah.

Got a link to the orbiter?

Totally didn't see the note about badass. If you're willing to drop more than $30, there are some great sets out there that may work for you, but at $30, you're looking at fewer options. Superhero, Alien Conquest, some of the Creator vehicles, and some Technic sets.

I didnt read the whole thread but I came to post something that may help some people.

At christmas time, we have an electric lego train set, and we were missing a handful of pieces. All you gotta do is go to lego.com I think, or one of its affiliates, and you could select the model, and order the pieces for free to be shipped to you. The train was old, yet they still had the parts.

Hope it helps! If this is already known, sorry, again i didnt read the thread and just hope to help someone with missing pieces. I'd say lego pieces get lost all the time for many people

Doesn't have enough classic lego looking pieces tbh.

More like 0.

I guess that's Technic for you. Though probably some of the other Technic lines do have more standard Lego pieces - Bionicle and Hero Factory just went off on their own it looks like.

I can't seem to find those mini-fig collections anywhere. My local Wal-Mart has the MEGABLOCKS rip-off version! I almost vomited in disgust when I saw them.

I'm sure this has been said before, but to all you guys who left Lego behind when all the sets had devolved into specialized pieces: You need to come back! The set I just ordered, Medieval Market Village, contains barely any specialized pieces. And this goes for pretty much all the Castle/Kingdoms sets in circulation right now. In fact, I've already started building some of the sets with my own pieces; you can get building instructions for all recent products here.

Tip... a substitute alternatively of staying in reasonable hotels Go into Local Uggs Canada hostels and devote your nights there.. they are much cheaper than hotels and wil lsave you money.Lower costs past eating visible less ... unless you unquestionably thirst for to try that State delicacy.Your visit could Bring in everywhere Ugg Canada Store $5000 BUt this is a unassertive work out, it is best to stock diagram your tour Now and go as a consequence Uggs Canada Online what routes you will be winning

What is this, some kind of add?

Did I just get a virus? This is your 2nd post.

Are there any photos of TLOTR sets?

Soon. All that exists right now are prelim shots and pics from the London Toy Fair from last week taken at a distance (since photography is not allowed at that show). There may be some pics coming from the Germany Toy Fair starting tomorrow (?) or the best bet is the New York Toy Fair in a couple weeks.

For the mini-figures newest wave try Toys R Us, that's the only place I've seen them so far.

I haven't built it myself yet, but I'd say no. Real buses aren't that large, proportionally. It's halfway between minifig and the old Technic men from what I can tell.

A guy I work with has a custom bus slammed to the ground, the roofline barely reaches my shoulders. It's hot.
