Also I think the Hogwarts set isn't looking as bad as everyone makes it to be, sure, the scaling is all over the place but at least it looks like the actual Hogwarts buildings.

Finished the firehouse, it's my first modular, so it was a fun time. Was surprised how fast the 2nd half went together compared to the first half.
Was a really neat build, the stuff on he 2nd floor was all fun to put together.

Hogwarts isn't terrible, but like you said, the scaling bugs me.

Tower Bridge man. It has nearly double the pieces of any other set near that price. A steal if you think of it that way.

I've seen many at TRU, but then you'll probably pay more because it's TRU than say Amazon. Strangely, I've also seen them at Barnes & Noble.

Moc'ing is going to be hella expensive though, especially till one has a certain stock of good pieces. Also considering that I don't plan on taking it apart afterwords

Depending on what pieces you order and in what quantity, MOC'ing can get pricey, yeah. I feel like the bulk of your cost comes from having to pay shipping on multiple orders to get the pieces you want. When I rebuilt the Lego Dragon, I think I played some 6-7 different orders? One if the pieces (2x2 green corner brick), cost me like 3 orders and a lot of cash haha. That's the battle of bricklink!

yeah, I've done like 25 orders for the UCS millennium falcon. Probably spent $100 just for shipping.

No kidding. At over 4000 pieces, building it sounds like the ultimate challenge. Dammit, I haven't built any Legos in over a decade, but that Tower Bridge is so tempting.
Another thing, any thoughts on the Modular Building collection (Town Hall, Grand Emporium, Pet Shop, etc.)? Based on all the sets I saw at the store yesterday, this collection was the only one that actually interested me.
I would consider the modular buildings the "crown jewel" of my collection. If you are interested, you should look to get the Fire Brigade set ASAP, because it is on its way out-of-print and these sets start shooting up in price once that happens.

I'm not feeling it. Although the Eiffel tower looks kinda cool at that scale.

edit also is there a good way to order all (!) pieces you'll need for a digital designer thing, internationally? It'll be pretty costy to buy hundreds of bricks from different bricklink sellers I'd guess.

The set looks great next to Fire Brigade, but I have to say it is a big step down as far as how much fun it was to put together. After all the weird offset things that are done in Fire Brigade, most of Town Hall seems downright pedestrian. Just not as many weird building techniques in it to stand out, but yet it is still fun to put together. You can definitely tell it is a different designer than the other modulars.
I will post pics of everything once I am done, but so far it is a step backwards from my first modular.

The reviews over at Eurobricks made it sound promising - I think the biggest difference is in the size and piece count. Even the pictures made it look a bit less inspired than the others, but it really stood its ground as a "large and in charge" building.
Apparently the skylights on the roof of the Town Hall were designed by Jamie Berard (the regular modular designer).
