All of the paper parts are held in place/together with LEGO parts, no tape/glue needed, even on the character. (For those wondering, there is a normal (armless) minifig torso and head under the paper on the character, with a few attached pieces to hold the paper in place) They were designed in Inkscape and printed as a PDF before being cut and punched.

Thanks! It's actually my second Journey model, the first one I did not long after the game was out. I'm a huge thagamecompany fan, so I've done models of all their games so far, (Flickr Link to my TGC LEGO photos) but this last one is my favourite I think. (EDIT: In fact I've now done 2 models for each of their PS3 titles, maybe I should do another "Cloud" one!)

To all the "bag-mixers" in this thread: I could never do that! I get worried whenever I can't quickly find a piece in a set, even though I think I've only ever had a missing piece once, maybe twice (touch wood).
 
Series 7 of minfigures looks good. I just need to get the last ones I want from series 6.

Currently got the Statue of Liberty, the Minator, the Surgeon, and Mel Gibson. Just want two Roman soldiers, a Leprechaun, and a Cowboy.

FYI for anyone still looking for this in store, it was selling for 37 at my local store. I rushed out there after I saw the price and they said they couldn't honor the online sale price. YMMV I suppose.

Build the Grand Emporium over the weekend. It was such a great set, and some of the things they did were just ingenious. I did one floor a day to really spread it out and I would say it took around 7 hours to build (rough estimate). It looks absolutely gorgeous and I am rather tickled at the reception it is getting from my friends. Hell my roommate helped me for a while, even if it was only to find a piece I couldn't spot. The only downside I would see to this set is that it really makes me want to buy more modulars.

That is the curse. I did one, and now am stuck wanting them all. At least all the in print ones. Grand Emporium is next on my list to get. That set looks fucking sexy in pics.

Me mum found that John Lewis Oxford Street were already selling series 7 so she got me a packet. Got the Aztec Warrior. Love my mum!

That shit just rustles my jimmies. One time I had a Best Buy manager act like he was doing me a favor by price-matching the website. It's not often that I want to smack a dumbass, but don't act like I'm getting a "deal" when you price-match your own damn website.

It's OOS online. Why don't you just buy Target outright Gary, then you'll never have to worry about driving to the Lego store, you can just have Target trucks pull up to your house with each new set =p

A friend was there today and he said they had life size R2-D2 & C3PO as well as a small Pick a Brick wall. Heading there after work on Wednesday.

It's the only castle set I own and I really like it, and you get a great variety of cool pieces.

I do like the look of the joust and farm castle sets though

This is one of the best parts of it. It's just got such a huge assortment of cool and useful pieces!
 
Well, guess I will go for it then! Better then to spread money across several small sets. And since being a few years old, it could go out of print soon anyway.
 
Do we do any LEGO trading here? Like for collectible minifigs and such?
I just got stuck with a few duplicates that I really don't care for.
 
Tried the minifigure bags for the first time. Got a Skater chick and a Geisha...boo. These were ordered online so I think I may go to target tomorrow and actually get some hands on time to see if I can fish out a robot and roman soldier.

MMV is an interesting set, since it lives outside of the Castle "timeline". It's not Fantasy-era and it's not Kingdoms.

That farm set is cool too, with all the different animals included.
 
I have been slowly disassembling the Imperial Shuttle over the last few days. The wings were easy to remove from the body of the shuttle, but damn if the wings are not a pain in the ass to completely take apart.

I have most of the pieces sorted, so I plan on doing another time lapse video on Wednesday of me reassembling it. It took about 9 or so hours on first build, but that was with pieces unsorted. I am aiming for a 6 hour build or less this time. Especially since i know what to expect from it.
 
According to Brickset, both the S7 Minifigs and the new Marvel Heroes sets have started showing up in stores in the UK. Not long now before they will be in the US.

And a question for LEGO gaf. I posted this video I made several pages ago:

I am planning on doing another time lapse video on Wednesday when I do the Imperial Shuttle. Do you think I should keep the same frame rate (1 frame every 10 seconds. 24fps video), or should I slow it down some? I am wanting feedback before I do the build. I dont want to video too long (that would be boring), but I dont want it too fast either (you lose a lot in it). I think the Falcon video above was almost the perfect speed. I am thinking of dropping it to 1 frame every 7 or 8 seconds for the Imperial Shuttle.

Suggestions?

So do you have to do the build in one sitting, or can you take breaks? Slowing it down a little wouldn't be a bad thing - would make it a bit more enjoyable and "understandable" to watch!

I say take it down to every 7 seconds, can't you delete the images if it's too many anyway? Or does the application you are using not allow you to do that? Also I'd say try to find an angle that shows the build a little more closely.

i have one of those, and an old grey one, they work well together.
and the old one has the advantage of being used, so that if i separate a brick it will just drop out of the separator. with the new orange one they will stay in the separator and require manual extraction ;)

you could slow it down a little for the falcon, but that was a 2hour build. for the shuttle that might be ok, might be a little long?

I'd also like at least a few seconds of a model closeup at the end - it stops very abruptly.

The Falcon video was the first one that I made, so it was more of a test run. Getting a good angle on the build will be harder because I was using my iMac for the camera. The program I used put the video together, so there was no going in after to delete frames.

I might try and use a phone program this time to create a better angle of the whole build. And the 7 second idea sounds best as it will keep the video moving at a nice clip, but not make it overly long. I do plan on doing it in one sitting. That way there are no distractions from the wife or anyone while making it. I do also intend to have some longer pauses at the end showing the completed model.

It is godly. I ordered one when I ordered Town Hall the other week. And since Town Hall came with one, I now have two. If you think one is godly, then order another and it is even more godly. So handy when taking apart all those 1x2 and 1x3 plate stacks in the Imperial Shuttle.
 
Loved the video PhoncipleBone, don't think I saw that when you posted it. Only think I would change is showing the model for a few seconds after you complete it. I felt like I saw the journey and only got to see the end product for a second lol
 
I have a pair of green brick separators and one orange one. They are a must have for any Lego builder - like, absolutely MUST have!

How were those grey/brown axles with flattened ends? They felt like they really needed pushing into place - i'm dreading removing those.

The hardest parts to remove were those at the bottoms of the wings. The parts where you slide a bunch of the small, thin white pieces on. It was hard enough getting the pieces on. But the wings were hard to take apart.
 
For the timelapse, I'd recommend trying to keep the model and camera in fixed spots and then just taking a picture after each part is added. Or the every 7 seconds like you had.

It is much easier to use the automated program to take the frames. I am going to play around and find good angles and maybe some phone apps.
