I have tower bridge, sopwith camel and sonic boom. I got down to just tower bridge but wasn't in the mood to build it, so I bought some more sets instead :)

I had already long known about the USS Harry Truman that a guy built, but while looking around on Youtube for videos of it and came across the wonderful monstrosity.

LEGO USS Intrepid

It's built of around 250,000 pieces and is located on the actual USS Intrepid.

Found a place that was selling preopened series 3, 4, 5, and 6 minifigs at cost. Got a complete set of series 3, missing 3 for series 4 and 2 for series 5.

I think I have an addiction problem...

Link, by chance? I don't need them packaged, either. :D

Seriously, link?

I understand gaming backlogs, but Lego? I build them the day I get 'em.

Just like my video games, books, movies, music, board games, and miniature painting hobbies, I usually buy in bulk and grab deals whenever I see them. Every single one of my hobbies (several not included in the above list!) have a fair amount of "backlog". All of my hobbies have days and days worth of fun just sitting there awaiting my attention. I just need to be in the mood and have some free time.

I just got back from a 3 day vacation in Indianapolis, IN where I started reading a new book. I had today at home for a breather, so I decided to focus on my video game backlog. I leave tomorrow morning for 4 days in Traverse City, MI then I have 2 days off before work. I'll finish off my book while on vacation. I'm going to try and do some miniature painting, video gaming, and movie watching when I get home but I'll have new Legos to assemble as well so those have to be squeezed in there somewhere ;)

When I get back to work I'll have 2 weeks worth of podcasts to catch up on as well as about 6 new albums to listen to.

The majority of my life is play time, lol. It's a great thing having a backlog!

Should I get to the LEGO Store opening before they open on the day they have the free LEGO Store Set available, or will I be fine if I just get there around opening?

ninjago-fire-temple-300x168.jpg

Over the past week my son and I put together this Lego Ninjago Fire Temple set. The dragon went together beautifully and is really great looking! The fire temple is by far the most fragile and breakable set we've ever made. It's beautiful and clever but it broke about a dozen times before we finished. It made completing it quite a slog.

We've put together sets like Endor, Hogwarts Castle, Pirates of the Carribean Castle and other smaller sets and nothing came close to keeping the Fire Temple intact.

I bought a cheap Ninjago set this weekend, Spinjitzu Dojo (it was only £15 because the box was crushed). Like your set it was a really flimsy build. I only got it for bits though, so I'm dismantling it soon.

On the topic of Ninjago (hey, I didn't want to be the one to bring it up!), I broke down the other day and ordered my first set: the Blade Cycle (got it for $12). Looks like a pretty cool. If I don't like it, I think I can combine it with some batman parts and make a cool black & gold batcycle, like something out of Tim Burton's batman might have looked like
I agree with FXF, LEGO is LEGO, this doesn't fit the aesthetic very well. Not that it isn't skillfully done or anything.

took me a minute to figure out who you mean by FXF, not seen that abbreviation before ;)

Yeah I'm skipping Jabba's Palace, I have a feeling it'll hit $90/$100 clearance prices at the end of the season. Desert Skiff and Fury-Class are the only two sets from the summer Star Wars I think I'm going to actively hunt down.

I'm allowing for Jabba's Palace in my LEGO budget but i'm not happy about it. I hope they make the US price more reasonable. $99 is what it should be.

I absolutely must have that Jabba figure. It's a work of beauty.

My current plan: buy desert Skiff, Jabba's Palace and *maybe* Palpatine's Arrest. The others I will wait until I can get on discount.

Finished the Death Star last week. Love the set.

Together with my other SW sets (too bad I don't have more room to display LEGO sets):

Had to order more Stormtroopers from bricklink, there's so much room in the death star...

You're going to want to get there early. At least an hour before they open. Maybe two hours before.

If you really want the see, better safe than sorry. Right?

Haha! I hear ya! I'm the exact same way. Everything in my life has a massive backlog it seems. I always go on huge spending binges and amount a sizeable collection and then it just sits until I have the time, or have a strong urge to tear into it. My Lego backlog is tremendous thanks to sales, various promotions, deals, and lack of space to build and display mostly. My gaming and book backlogs are probably the only thing that are larger.

In fact here is a pic of most of my Lego backlog:

A few sets missing from this image that are elsewhere. But yeah I'm backlogged too.

That's the fun part after the fact. Mixing it up is also a blast. I use the conference room as a meeting place for various Lego villains from other licensed properties and Batman is at the top keeping an eye out on them.

Anyone have one of the 10% off coupons they aren't using and don't mind parting with?
Do you get one for being a VIP member? I'm not ordering anything off lego.com in foreseeable future.

For some reason I can't get my shop.lego.com to not be in German. I cleared my cookies, and it's in English before I log in, but once I log in, it's back in German. I see the place to change your nationality in the top right, but clicking on US English doesn't change it.
Obama's America!

Got my Lex Luthor with the pre-order of Lego Batman. The Gamestop I went to had quite a few of the toys in one box, so either they got a ton of pre-orders or they are giving them away with new copies.

I am VIP and did not get one in my catalog. I am wanting to make a point of finding a store while on vacation and redeem all my points, and an extra 10% would be quite cool if you aren't using it.

Oh I see, I'd have to go look for the physical catalog. I won't be home for a few days, but I'll look then. Thought it was something I could grab off the webpage.

Yup, picked up my copy and minifig as well. I didn't realize that Luthor's gun was an exact replica of the one in the game. Really cool figure and an excellent bonus. I hope there'll be an equally cool minifig for the Lego LotR game coming this fall.

When does the coupon expire?

Just found Series 5 minifigs, 2 for 3$ in Traverse City, MI. I bought 15 and only got 4 doubles. Not bad! We may go back and try and feel for the only 3 in the series we are missing.
