I usually ignore TRU sales because they exclude Star Wars, so this is the first time I'm trying to take part.

The fact that it includes Star Wars is what makes it hurt so much. If it came later in the month, I would go nuts. But alas, it isnt.

Hrm, I just noticed Jabba's Palace they list for $150. Something tells me that once they raise all the prices back up, the B2G1 isn't going to feel like a good deal anymore. I know TRU marks up in general, but damn, $150 for Jabba's Palace?

The big mega sets are usually MSRP. That is where to look. SSD and Death Star are MSRP, as are the Modulars. I would bite on R2D2 even at their raised price if I could right now. Well, I could, but not enough to exploit the discount to its fullest potential.

Way to go, TRU. Another duplicitous sale. Click on details for the B2G1, and it says "additional exclusions apply online." That is their way of saying "Anything from the Hard to Find category is not eligible for the sale."
First off, this is good only because it does not make me spend tons of money I dont have.
But it is horribly misleading. So if I were in a store, the modulars would be part of the sale? But only because they label them "hard to find" I cannot take advantage of the sale?
I swear this happens anytime TRU runs a promotion. There is always some way they can figure out how to screw you over on it because of their completely misleading ads.
One bright side: mini figs are part of the sale. So I might go clean out my local store of their stock.

Advice time: I think I'm taking advantage of the TRU sale. I'm not getting any of the mega-sets, but I'm picking up the Quinjet and one of the Creator houses (either Hillside, Seasisde, or Apple Tree) for the ladyfriend. What's another mid-range awesome set? I'm thinking maybe about the Y-wing, but it doesn't seem that incredibly inspiring. I guess I could go classic and pick up the X-wing, but now I'm starting to look at these Creator sets and falling in love with them a bit.
Thoughts?
[edit] also, super bummed that the Winter Village sets aren't part of the sale. That post office looks incredible.

Hillside house is closer in price to Quinjet than anything, so might as well exploit the sale.
Go for that and the new tow truck creator set, whatever it is called.
But if you go all star wars, just go for sex wing, y wing, and tie fighter.

Man, I'm having trouble pairing up Jabba's Palace, and maybe Palpatine's Arrest with one more item. Maybe one of the Pirates of the Caribbean ships? Is the Black Pearl or Queen's Anne Revenge better as far as build and mini figs? I feel like I'm stretching to get this deal to work now.
The salty, bitter man tears are flowing.The Black Pearl has Davey Jones and Maccus, but the QAR is an AWESOME build. The minifigures are weak, though.
WOW, I'm happy I got my order in when I did!! I'm still shopping, and all of the previous "sale" prices that put them at MSRP are gone, and the TRU tax is back in effect. I just ordered two Hillside Houses for $69, but they're back at $74.99, now. All items were fixed. Someone must've made a huge mistake earlier. I thought it seemed too good to be true. Does anyone know if they'll honor my purchases?

I discovered a new LEGO related store close to my house yesterday.
I took some pics, they had this awesome modular display some UCS starwars sets. (ISD, SSD, DS2, MF) the also had his own minifig collection on display as well as some customs. They also sold individual minifigs from series 1 on wards as well as had jars with minifigure parts you could pick. I should go back and take more pics. I only took a couple. (they had the Red baron triplane, the 10xxx train, the carousel etc)
Owner was a pretty cool dude and he gave me a free random minifigure to boot. (will post pics of it later)
Edit: I forgot to take pics of the back of the modular display but what is there is the pet shop as well as some of the CITY construction vehicles supposedly building more modulars at the back.

There is usually an overlap in tru sales for a few hours. But them excluding the bigger sets is bullshit. Why do I shop there when every week I get pissed by their deceptive ads?

you only get one per order, so you will have to split it up.
Local seller is selling new sealed copy of 8864. It looks like a fun set for my 5 year old son to play with.
lots of stickers, but I'm sure your son will have a blast with it.

He wanted 2500 Euro for the Milenium Falcon. (It's MISB) But he said he'd negotiate the price so long as he was sure it was going to a good home. He'd probably go down to 1500-2000. I didn't expect to see it at the time since I went there on a whim so couldn't make him an offer at the time. He had the UCS Beatle there too lol

That price is what they want. It seems to hover at around $400 on eBay which is a better indicator of its value.

Went by tru while on lunch break and grabbed 12 minifgs. All repeats. Of course, now I have more DJs and manbats.
Which reminds me, I need to dig out my back stock of figs if you're still interested.....

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to have too many repeats of any collectible mini fig that it makes sense to build an army from. Like, I wouldn't even be mad if all 5 series 8 figs I have ordered right now turned out to be manbats (I have no series 8 figs at all yet). Actually I think it would be awesome.
Also my mother has started collecting the minifigs. So weird. Her first two figures of series 8 were the dj and the diver.
What's the most ridiculous price you guys have seen for a blindbag? The only place where I've seen a series 8 bag in person so far is charging 6 dollars a pop.

So almost done with the UCS ISD now... and urg it's really not sturdy enough to move. Try to pick it up now and it will fall apart in your hands. It is too heavy that no longer can you just life it by holding where the magnets are, as they pop out now. It's looking impressive and was some interesting build ideas, but really it seems like you have to build it somewhere your going to leave it displayed at, since you can't just pick it up in any easy way.
The SSD on the other hand is so sturdy and you can even do some swooshability with it.

Back from my first ever Lego store visit! Really disappointed that they didn't have stock of Shuttle Expedition but still managed to get a set for my wife, one each for my boys and the Advent Calendar, none of which are in NZ yet (oh, and the freebie Monster Fighters giveaway for spending more than USD$75.
Crazy place, so damn busy. The big sets were very tempting but I'm glad I didn't bring a bigger suitcase, it could have gone very badly for me. The new Technic Rescue Chopper looks amazing up close, that's definitely on my list for later.
The Master Builder Academy set I got my 6 year looks awesome, can't wait to see him give it a go.
