Does anyone have any impressions of Diagon Alley, or comparison pics of it in size next to the regular modular buildings? I want it, but the wife is on the fence due to the size of the individual buildings.

Also goddamn it Walmart re-stock Grand Emporium!

Edit: Annnnd Diagon Alley is already OOS, nevermind :(

I don't have any comparison pics (don't have any modulars), but it is a really great set.
I believe that the Bank and Olivander's shop are both about as tall as the Pet Shop, but they individually take up a lot less space. The bank may look large, but it actually closes which makes it about something like 12x16 studs at the base.
Here's a picture of my set (Knight Bus not included, but fits great with the set):

Takes up quite a bit of space to set up the whole diorama (I've taken mine apart to make room for other sets), but individually they are a nice size. The set also comes with a TON of mini-figs, like 10 or 11. I definitely recommend it though, great build tons of good pieces, and a great $:brick ratio.

They are drifting in and out of stock, so keep checking.

I may have gone a bit overboard.

the other two are for friends :)

Also picked up Haunted House, Winter Cottage, Advent Calendar and the halloween and rock band mini-sets as well as a bunch of S8 minifigs - our local LEGO store guy is a master at feeling the bags for the ones you want.

I see nothing even remotely wrong good sir!

Holy testicles, the B-Wing is actually enormous. I don't have it, but I'm watching video reviews and it dwarfs people.

I really want it now.

Ahh, I get it now. This one has less entries I think because it was a much more difficult set to work with. I can't really explain the lack of votes though; a week is probably way too short.

last time everyone was complaining that two weeks is too long :p

but I agree with phonce, we need a break after this one.

My Seattle Space Needle and Willis Tower shipped today. Can't wait. I'm still contemplating buying either Fallingwater or Robie House.

My birthday is coming up and the wife keeps asking what I want...

I kind of went crazy and ordered all 4 modulars, Tower Bridge, Space Shuttle and the Death Star. My wife is going to fucking KILL me!

I guess I should cancel something but I don't know what to give up!

I really should only buy one of those sets at Walmart. Between Tower Bridge and Grand Emporium...which should I choose? I leave the decision in your hands, GAF!

If it influences the decision, purchasing Tower Bridge may mean disassembling my SSD (there can be only one!...3+ ft. set on display in my tiny apartment at a time!

well you should just give your wife something nice to sweeten the deal.
and others in this thread have ordered lego to work as to not arouse the suspicion of their spouse ;p

If it's just one ever, go with GE. TB isn't minifigure size.

I just came across this while browsing.

LEGO Keyboard - Proof of Concept

This is the proof of concept from an abandoned project (circa 2005ish) to make a working LEGO keyboard. It was built upon the sensor pad from an old Microsoft Natural keyboard.

What little I completed is actually fully functional, I just never got around to finishing it. Maybe in the future I will resurrect this project, but for now it is being dismantled.

2005
looks kinda neat

Tower Bridge. Look at it this way, you get over 4000 pieces for that insane price. And it is probably the best source for moc pieces I have seen. Just beware, you will be drowning in tan cheese slopes with it. But you get tons of tan bricks, grey grooved pieces, gray bricks with the little handle sticking out, and not to mention TONS of windows. Top it off with 5 half base plates and like 8 or so of the 8x16 plates with no studs on top. Really a treasure trove for moc stuff.

Oh, and for the crazies: the bags are not numbered. It is all or nothing with that set build.

These Walmart deals are nuts.

Anybody know if there is a Walmart near downtown Columbus (OH) or near the airport? I'm in town on business and would love to take advantage of a deal. We don't get deals like that in Canada.

Might be a weird question:
I'm in Canada, but will be attending a conference in the States later this month. I want to take advantage of the double VIP as well as the lower American prices.
Will my VIP membership work in the US too?

My 'Dutch' VIP membership works in Germany too. It seems to be an international card...so I would think the anwswer is 'yes' in your case too.

Not 100% sure though ;)

Yay, I got Grand Emporium!

Boo, I missed Town Hall :(

I'll take what I can get though. I want the Tower Bridge, but I think the wife might kill me lol. Grand Emporium is for her so I can make a pretty convincing argument I suppose. Was Grand Emporium the set that everyone was having weird shipping issues with from Walmart though? Hope I don't have any issues with that, ordered it from them since Amazon hasn't matched it yet and I didn't want to miss it again.

I watch the cartoon with my son, and yes there are some spoilers in these product descriptions. Ninjago doesn't get much of a reception with the older crowd, so I didn't consider spoiler-tagging the descriptions.

As far as the cartoon goes - this all starts in Episode 20.
Yeah, it didn't bother me at all. But some people are a little crazy when it comes to spoilers. Oh, I just realized that I forgot to say thanks for providing all of that info!

Is this like when the Green Power Ranger became the White Ranger?
I'm 43 years old, so I was a little bit on the old side when they were popular. So I'm not sure if they are comparable situations. Of course, if you are referring strictly to color change, then yes, it is like that. But then, if you are referring to the exact changes in color, considering that Lloyd is changing from green to gold while the green Power Ranger changed into the white Power Ranger, then no, it's not like that. Make of that what you will.

UCS Hylian Shield day 1!

No but really, if we could reverse engineer this, I would be ALL over Bricklink.

Ha. Oh, man... That is nightmare fuel. BLin' a 200 piece set with some odd pieces/colours is hard enough. That being said, I'd actually pay $300 for it *stares condescendingly at B-Wing*.

When I BL'd the LEGO Dragon, I spent so much time and money over there. It was rough...But worth it.

As much as I say to myself how much I hate trying to scrounge BL for stuff, it's quite fun playing the optimization game with pricing out what you're looking for on your wanted list. :p

True! 'Tis a game that grows old, though. And as if there's any worse a predicament than waiting on that one crucial shipment that's lagging behind all the others. Curse the inconsistency of OS shipping!

Thanks for the head's up on the Walmart stuff back in stock, was able to snag a Shuttle Expedition, which had went out of stock back when I ordered that large haul from there.

If anyone is a BN member, I have a one time use coupon for an extra 20% off if anyone wants it. It is good this weekend only. Let me know and I will pm the link. Keep in mind it only works with the membership. But that makes it close to 30% off a set like Robie House, Sith Fury, or Vampyre Castle.

I've bought the Grand Emporium and Pet Shop in the last week because of the crazy pricing. The Fire Brigade no longer stands alone. Funds are now depleted so Town Hall will have to wait for another day.

Tower Bridge back on sale yet? :|

I did find a local one for $180, so I might bite there while prepping for my Death Star buy.

It went back on sale this morning and both Amazon and Walmart had it a few hours ago, but it's since gone OOS at both. Was still on the fence about it, so guess that made up my mind. I'm still super tempted to get Diagon Alley though, Amazon still has it at $126 (not sure about Walmart).
