Quinjet is godly. Swoosh ability set to 11.

You should get it. That set is not swoosh able (due to size and weight), but is it sexy.

Oh, I swooshed the Quinjet!

I'm not sure where I can display it, that's my only problem. Purchase probably means I need to buy a nice display cabinet to hold it too.

I see no rotten egg in all of LEGO's 2013 lineup...

This is going to be one of their biggest years ever!

Guys... srsly guys... January... how can I survive bankruptcy...

Calmly remind yourself that these sets are just being released, and will be available for the coming couple years. You don't have to get them all at once.
And then cry because you want them all at once anyway.

When is their going to be an announcement on the 2013 UCS sets? Looking at the past few years, they do two a year and I'm very excited by the possibilities. I would personally love a Slave I UCS set.

Last year we got the official announcement for R2-D2 in mid-March, though it seems like LEGO hadn't planned on announcing it that early, but the blunder on the Town Hall designer video leaked its existence.

The B-wing wasn't officially announced until July 6th.

That's so far from now. Oh well, I still have the Death Star to save for anyhow.

I finally finished Helms Deep after a couple weeks. Broke it up into 4 free days, one instruction book per day and managed to the Urak Hai set in there to. It's late, will do some pics tomorrow.

Wow, that was so AWESOME doing a big set like that spread out over multiple days seeing it gradually come together. I have it awkwardly placed on my dresser right now but I have no where else to put it. It's to long for one of my bookshelves and the bottom of my TV stand might work but I couldn't look at it fondly and my cat loves fucking with my lego figures. When she gets pissed at cause i'm ignoring her she will intentionally jump up on my desk and dresser and start knocking lego figures down one by one looking up at me in between each one as if saying "This is all on you buddy" She really hates Santa Clause mini-fig.

Anyways I dont' have the money for it, and christmas is coming up but I really don't think Mines of Moria or Weathertop will satiate my hunger for a build like this. I wanted the Winter Cottage but i'm not sure if that will be enough for me. Are these considered "Modular" builds? I'm still trying to pick up the lingo. I like Star Wars but i'm not so sure i'm that into it to start getting sets and the ones I would be interested in are too rich for me right now (SSD, Death Star) and i'm liking these buildings. I know the Winter Cottage has a lot of pieces but for some reason it doesn't look as involved as Battle of Helms Deep was. Also i'm having second thoughts on getting into sets right now I can only really display once a year. I want these out loud and proud. I'm thinking Monster Fighters which I was originally very interested. I know the automatic response will probably be Haunted House, and I would agree with that but i'm not sure I can swing $200 right now. I'm looking at Vampyres Castle at the moment and thinking it might actually look good displayed with Helms Deep if I can work somewhere to display these.

Come on, really need one of the Two Towers now or Minas Tirith would be so godly. I'm gonna take a picture of the front gate, I have all the orcs from both sets running up the steps instead of space out in front of the walls, it looks awesome with all of them bum rushing Aragorn and Gimli.

The modular buildings are the old-fashioned-main-street style buildings that clip together. The 4 currently being made are fire brigade, grand emporium, pet shop, and town hall. The out of print ones are cafe corner, market street, and green grocer. They're huge and beautifully detailed.

There's also the mini modulars set, which includes miniature versions of the oldest 5 buildings.

If people talk about building modular versions of some set from a different theme (for example, some people talked about wanting to redesign the haunted house to be a modular building), they're trying to rebuild an unrelated set in this style, so that it fits in the street and the floors separate the way these buildings do.

Oh ok, that makes sense. And i'm really interested in those sets but with my compulsion for collecting things and with all those sets being pricey I would be in debt quick.

They only get pricier if you wait on them. Just think of it this way: for only $20 more than Helm's Deep, you can have a set with about double the amount of pieces in it.

Yeahhhhhh. It was a painful month or so of longing before I broke and admitted I would never get the out of print ones. Only have one myself, with one more ordered and on the way.

Well, maybe a little more then $20. I got Helms Deep for $85. I would have never spent $130 for it. I will add BEFORE actually getting it and putting it together. The enjoyment I got out of it and seeing it there would be well worth $130 to me now.

I'm guessing in the back of my head i'm still telling myself "Why are you spending this much on toys that just sit there" And please no one take offense at that, I was buying Transformers, entire huge series sets for years. And I sold of most of those a couple years ago going through a phase of having to get rid of shit and thinking it was a sign of growing up. Legos are definitely held in a different regard and getting in to them lately has really helped my depression and stress getting my mind of things and into more creative realms.

I still have that voice in the back of my mind saying the money I spend on them, especially these sets over a $100 could be better spent so it will take a bit for me to bite on those sets. The themes really help push me, but being a crazy pet/cat person has had me eyeing that Pet Shop set for awhile now. I'm also a big Christmas person so those Winter Village sets are on my hit list but i'm just hungry for another big set again. Maybe I should stick with Winter Cottage then.

The going OOP scares me. Thats one thing keeping me from pulling the wallet out for the Winter Village sets because I really want Toy Shop with the tree. I think this compulsion of mine carries over from collecting Transformers. If I collected a series I had to have them all or it would drive me nuts.

These big sets just look so fulfilling and it was great pulling out one book out of four and a couple bags and knowing I wasn't done yet. On the other hand I put Gandalf Arrives together in like 15 minutes and was like, ok. I'm sorry, i'm really weird and rambling.

Why spend so much on plastic that sits there? Because you can take it apart, build your own stuff with it, and then when you get bored with that you can reassemble the original set again.

YES!! You are absolutely right and thats one of the positives I keep telling myself. My transformer collections would literally just sit there. I had to dust them like dolls. If anyone suffers from depression or anxiety or anything similar I cannot recommend enough how much Legos has helped me with that. One of the dangers of depressions is letting your mind and brain drift off and be sucked into a black hole. I have literally been unable to move out of my bed with the TV on for a whole day and I could not tell you what was on that day I watched.

Putting these sets together gets my mind working again and helps with my creative side. I've put a couple bags together and then immediately jumped into a graphic novel i've been trying to storyboard working on with a friend. It's like working out for the mind. Just my two cents on that matter for anyone else who has arguments with themselves.

Anyways, thanks for all the advice on the modulars. I will take some quick pics tomorrow.

Lego is how I unwind after work and it gets me through the depression of being a retail slave and feeling like I am stuck where I am with no hope of escape.

And if you are going to get into MOCing (making your own creations), I cannot recommend the modular series highly enough. Not only do you get a lot of great pieces to use, but there are so many neat and odd building techniques used that you learn quite a lot doing it.

But, just to make matters harder for you: if you want to MOC, look into Tower Bridge. It is the king for MOC pieces. In my book at least.

Building LEGO to me is like a form of meditation - it cleanses and focuses.

It's also an activity I share with my son - and it can facilitate conversation while building together.

And at the end of it all, you've probably built something sweet that you can display for a while!

Oh god don't mention toy shop. That one still hurts. It's just one out of print one. maybe I can justify-- -NOOOOOOO.

Yup. I am debating about tearing down a few of my modular MOCs though. But I am also very proud of them and want to keep growing my own street of them. If anything, the Corner Florist one will be the first to go. I can pull that one off much better.

Although, now that Halloween is over, I am thinking of pillaging Haunted House for parts to make a MOC of something.

But then you have 2H13 stuff coming up, don't want to build up a bug list of things to buy.

Exclusives I know I'll want like horizon express and the modulars I'll just buy ASAP. Creator and other sets that are sold elsewhere I might hold off on, I've had some decent sales through amazon this year (30% off helms deep the latest one)

But another helms deep (look for it on sale somewhere) and use the pieces to expand your current one into a more detailed setup. Like this guy http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=74926

lol - My cat is like that too. She'll sit there as I build, watching me silently and then pounce on any pile I leave unattended. I usually have to put her in a crate and let her watch from the sidelines, while I build at least.

Side note: I moved in with my girlfriend last year (she's been really supportive of all my Lego dealings too, which is awesome; side note, I just ran a marathon and she made a sign to hold near the end to cheer me on and she drew a Lego head on it with, "Go Chris!")

Guys.

7965 Millennium Falcon. Yay or- well, obviously it's a 'yay', but how big of a 'yay', you say?

it was last on my list after X-wing, TIE, shuttle and R2-D2. Its the only one I've built and broken down to make space - the rest are still on display.

its ok, but I think secretly I really want a UCS version, so I just bought it as a temporary fix.

Im halfway through building Grand Emporium ( and have Fire Brigade on deck) and its been by far the most satisfying Lego experience I've had so far. This is coming from someone who has built nothing but SW spaceships. So it really blew me away seeing all the colors and details come together. If you have the means, definitely pick one up.

I too was a bigtime Transformer G1 collector,I also have a sizable Marvel Legends collection as well. While I think Transformers (especially the Masterpiece line) has more in common with Lego than other action figures, you do get more out of them than just display pieces so thats how I justify the higher cost.

I'm glad I'm not the only one affected this way by building Lego. The only issue with it for me is the money and space requirements. My apartment isn't very big and I like the larger Lego sets.

Here is what I have been able to gather for upcoming releases. Some are not set in stone, and some are still outright rumors.

January
City (1H 2013 wave)
Creator (1H 2013 wave)
Legends of Chima
Ninjago (final wave)
Star Wars (1H 2013 wave)
Super-Heroes (1H 2013 wave)
TMNT (1H 2013 wave?)
Arkham Asylum
Horizon Express

Let me know if I missed anything... 2013 is going to be an expensive year!

I wonder if TRU will have some of these early before x-mas like they had the DINO and some of the DC Superhero Sets last year. It was nice to snag up 2 of the Catwoman and Lex Luthor sets before x-mas last year at B1G1 40% off.

Still hoping they revive Blacktron somehow, and make it the classic yellow and black.

Cosigned! This was some of my favorite stuff growing up! I would love to see a revival of Blacktron, and M-tron! Maybe do Blacktron vs M-tron or something

So Walmart has this set, 4204:

in an ad for $39.99. It retails for $99.99 at the Lego Store.

Some people think it may have been a mistake, but it is in their system at that price and has been ringing up at that for a couple of days now. I picked one up tonight and they rang it up no problem.

So that's one Christmas present for my son knocked out. :)

Oh wow I'm bummed out now. I totally missed that, and I bet it was only a week long sale :(

Ok, storage question time!

What size of ziplock pages are good for modular buildings? I've been told to take down Haunted House, so I would like a bag per each instruction book.

Is that feasible?

First glimpse of Series 9!

Agreed, that set looks amazing!!!

I don't think An Unexpected Gathering is large or detailed enough, but I will still get it. Really what I want are UCS versions of every LotR or Hobbit set idea they come up with, instead of these pared down playset versions.
