I'm out of the loop, but what's the likelihood of an ME 1-3 remaster for PS4, PC and XBone being announced at E3? It would be a cool idea, and visually, the games really need higher resolution textures. I know there are mods on PC, what that's too much effort for me.

I brought all the games at launch, and I'd love to play all the DLC as well, but I'm not paying $100+ for it.

IMO borderline zero.

Well, that's disappointing. A wasted opportunity, I feel.

They could at least move the DLC into Origin properly, get rid of the Bioware point shenanigans, and put them on sale sometime. I'm pretty sure the money they would make would justify the the limited effort and cost that would be required to do that.

It's been ages since I played Mass Effect, but I did play the full game three times or so and even back then the barren planets and the sidequests related to them were a mixed bag for me. On the one hand there was a novelty factor of an RPG like ME having such locations. Hunting down anomalies and wonder what they were had it's charms for a while. On the other hand I could never really shake the feeling that they really had to limit their ambitions with regard to the planets and what we got was a mere shadow of what was envisioned.

With Metal Gear Solid V and The Witcher 3 in mind I'm rather excited about what they can potentially do combining elements from sandbox games with traditional RPG fare. But for what Mass Effect was in the original trilogy, I'd rather have somewhat smaller areas with a lot to do (more in line with how Eidos tackled this in DE:HR) then huge areas that are, most of the time, rather sparse or with a limited variety in content types (which dragged down MGSV a bit). Locations like The Citadel and Omega Station as true, lively hubs with rewarding exploration... Now that'd be something where I'd love to roam.

Hope they can find the balance between core story content and optional (quality) sidequests and steer away from map diarrhea.

That's exactly what I want as well, but I suspect we're getting something like Dragon Age: Inquisition instead. That's not to say it's an entirely bad option, but I'd rather have what you just described.

I haven't played DA:I (or any other game in the DA series for that matter) but I often see it criticized here on GAF for failing in how it tackled open world - too many barebones fetch quests, basically and/or same approach Ubisoft is now almost infamous for? Guess we can only hope Bioware listened and does better with Andromeda. Can't help but wonder what goes on in those guys' heads when they're playing games such as Witcher 3 for research (assuming they do, seems the big studios usually keep a close eye on this stuff). Hopefully it brings out their competitive side :)

Not good, but its because EA is fucking stupid.

The Uncharted collection has supposedly sold in excess of 3 million copies. Numbers a Mass Effect collection could come close to, but EA gonna EA.

Of course, Ill await and see if the Bioshock Collection and the Return to Arkham Collections sell well.

Well Patryn had an interesting theory, one that I find hard to believe, but it's possible:

It's that EA is hesitant to put out an uber collection with all DLC because the individual DLCs still sell well enough to not be worth it.

With the news this week that MS have solved the multi disk issue, it probably means that ME2 and ME3 will be being made backwards compatible real soon, something which I'm really looking forward to.

Sadly I don't have my old saves anymore due to giving away my 360(I should have uploaded that shit to the cloud!), so I'll need to replay ME1 again and recreate my main Shepard. Fuck my life. :(

Thankfully I've heard from people who have played ME1 on the XBO that all the glitches still work, so I can use the Therum infinite experience glitch and Lorik Qui'in infinite Paragon/Renegade Glitch to make my playthrough somewhat bearable. I don't want to have to play this game more than I have to.

They haven't solved it from what I understand. They said months ago the way it works is they have to code each game to know how to skip the disk swap, so it will take them a long time to add multi-disk games. That's what they are believed to have done for Deus Ex HR

Yeah, it may happen, but it's pretty much a given that they're not going to invest significant resources into BC since the feature is free.

What are you guys talking about? We already know from Major Nelson that BC can now support Multi Disk Scenarios.

While I love the idea of interpreting that to mean they found an automated fix, he didn't say that. He said they've done work to support multi-disk scenarios. That can simply mean that they've fixed the issue for a number of planned BC titles, but it doesn't mean that what the head of BC said a few months ago is not still true in that since each game has its own disc swap proprietary to its code, the BC team had to work through each title fixing it. There's nothing there saying they didn't have to do individual work on multi-disk titles like the head of BC said they would be doing.

Well, that's disappointing. A wasted opportunity, I feel.

It's a never-say-never scenario, and I imagine there's folk at BioWare (including senior) who'd like to see it happen, but at this point it's probably not reasonable to expect it when the publisher focus will be exclusively on Andromeda and moving forward with the franchise in the most thorough, comprehensive way possible.

Yes, EA could release it whenever they wanted. It's not like there is a now or never option. While it would be highly desirable for them to release it before Andromeda, it's not like they couldn't do it afterwards. Would it make sense to do it then? I don't know. But let's say that Andromeda ends up being a huge hit, re-releasing the trilogy could be a nice stop gap.

As I stated earlier, if the Uncharted collection can sell between 2-3M copies,(yes, I am sure many of those were bundled copies) and if the upcoming Bioshock and Batman collections sell real well, EA will have no choice but to take notice and consider it.

As a Mass Effect fan I decided to replay the trilogy (for like the 10th time) and I have to say my opinion has changed a bit. Even though ME3 has a disappointing ending (which isn't that bad but not great either) and lacklustre side content, it is the best for me and I feel ME2 being the weakest game of them all. There was so much potential to ME2 but the game has aged so badly in everything. Graphics are laughable, animations even worse, hub worlds are so disappointing and I find it so hard to care about the characters now when they're so static and dull in terms of emotions. Sure ME1 had some of these issues but I feel that the game was much better written and had a better atmosphere. Something about ME2 makes it feel and look like a generic sci fi TPS. It's because of ME1 that I care about the story at this point because ME2 falls flat. The game in general feels rushed, even the narrative of some of the quests feels like they had to finish it fast so they could proceed onto the next mission and the missions themselves look so boring due to the awful way they created these environments, from awful textures to geometry. Gameplay is an improvement over ME1 but doesn't compare to the almost flawless and satisfying fast paced gameplay of ME3. Playing ME3 after ME2 directly makes me appreciate the jump in quality Bioware put into the environments which helps me get immersed into the story even more. I can't stop playing ME3, every level looks amazing to see and play. I don't remember ME2 being so flat and boring, I don't know why I never felt this before but I do now and unfortunately I see why EA refuses to remaster the trilogy, because they would need a shit ton of work to be appreciated by today's standards. Only hardcore fans would enjoy ME2 as it is. Due to the better world building of ME3, it makes me appreciate and care about the story and its characters more than in ME2. I don't see myself replaying ME2 ever again but I'll be replaying ME1 and ME3 over and over again as I adore the mystery and atmosphere of the first one and the addicting gameplay and visuals of ME3. ME2 has neither imo.

hm. when I see things like this sometimes i really wonder how much less i would've loved Me2, and how much less I would've hated Me3, if I had started the series with Me1.

i started on Me2 (playstation owner) and honestly fell in love with ME because of it. and because I loved ME so much, i hate hate hate...Me3, never got over the ending but i have moved on, because now that Uc4 is out of the way, Me4 is pretty much now my...most anticipated game of the generation. I wanted to say year but it's pretty much confirmed coming out next year now.

Best part of ME1 is having the first conversation with Sovereign and the whole mystery regarding the reapers and protheans. Starting from ME2 ruins the whole thing so I feel sorry for you :p I wish I could erase my memory and start ME1 again.

I also became a hardcore fan after ME2. I loved ME3 as well and the ending didn't really bothered me as I didn't follow all the interviews surrounding the game so I was happy with the 3 coloured endings.

I plan on playing through the series again within the next month once my eyes have recovered from surgery but I will wait until after EA conference to be 100% sure there is no remaster. It is the start of the media focus for Andromeda so if it happens it will be then.

If not I will start ME1 on PS3 the next day.

oh I see. how did you like vega? i think earlier on this page or the last page I was talking to Patryn about how he was supposed to have the literary perspective of someone never having played the ME games before.

I thought Vega was cool during my 1st playthru.

During my 2nd play thru as Femshep....Femshep prolly would've have intimate contact with Vega. There's alotta sexual tension between those two.

I don't know why Bioware didn't have an option for FemShep and Vega to get romantic.... yet they had a option for the guy who just lost his freaking husband as a romance option for MaleShep....

i wanted my shepard to get romantic with kasumi. too bad that wasn't an option either.

What's funny is that Jack appears briefly in ME3 and I wouldn't have minded Shep getting with her either...

Why couldn't Shep chase after EDI?

If it's the last game for Shep then shouldn't nearly everybody be a dang romance option???

EDI X Joker is pretty interesting. You gotta love how the game makes you feel bad if you try to keep them apart. Lol Too bad Shep can't try a hand a the curvy robot.

Awwwww... ME3 isn't that bad. I thought it was pretty enjoyable and a good time. It has it's problems but I got a soft spot for the game.

One of my favorite moments was in my 1st playthru when my Shep was hitting on Traynor then Traynor drops the bomb that she doesn't want MaleShep at all..... I started laughing and dropped my controller.

Yeah I don't like a lot of things in ME3, but I love Joker x EDI. One of my favourite couples in a videogame actually (though that's not saying much...). They were cute and I enjoyed every bit of dialog with them.

But I'm weird... My 1st game into the series was Mass Effect 3. That's why I have a soft spot for the game. I have friends who are diehard ME fans and they strongly believe ME3 is the worst in the series and that Andromeda better make the right steps or the series should die.

I could never call ME3 a bad game. It made some unfortunate choices, and it needed probably at least another year in the oven, but the experience overall is pretty strong.

The gameplay is the tightest and best in the series, the inventory and upgrade system is the best in the series, and the multiplayer is beyond enjoyable. I also think they did a good job with the Krogan and Quarian/Geth story beats.

I also consider myself a diehard ME fan. I am number 2 on the Wall of Shame for this thread, after all.

I made an entire thread a while back where I wrote about why I thought Me3 was basically just not a good game and a huge step down from Me2. That includes gameplay. Other than unlimited sprint I'd say I enjoyed the gameplay more in Me2 than 3.

I'm a die hard fan and while I love all three, ME3 is my favorite despite its issues. Come at me bro.

How are "hate it a lot" and unequivocally "bad game" rational stances? Is this a case of "everything is either GOAT or awful garbage with no middle ground" syndrome? I was first in line with a pitchfork with regard to the ending, but man...

Because, despite what a lot of people think, Mass Effect isn't a waifu simulator. Not everybody you meet is going to be a romantic option.

I agree it's not a waifu simulator but waifu simulator is definitely a huge component of it. Pretty sure there's a huge part of the fanbase who loves ME for that reason. It's not just the awesome voice acting and space opera that ME is proud of. It's also the romance.

On MobileGAF, if you select "Tools" in a thread then select "view top posters"... you can see the number of comments from each person who ever commented in a thread. Wall of Shame is just a nickname for the list of people who comment alot in a thread. I can't find that feature on PCGAF but I definitely find it on the mobile version.

I may vaguely remember that topic now that I look at it (or another one like it). I don't disagree with a lot of the issues, but for me it easily had the best gameplay of the three, and struck a better balance between customization/leveling and streamlining than either of the other two games. Had some of the most memorable missions of the series even with the overall plot issues. The ending (and some of the other narrative stuff) was garbage, but this was still my most played game in the series because it was the most fun to play imo, simple as that. Agree to disagree I guess.

everybody says Me3 has the best gameplay and every time I comment on that I say that I know I'm in the minority for believing that Me2 was better. I didn't care much for the weapon upgrades tbh other than seeing through smoke, and was indifferent about the new leveling system. While it was cool to see some of your old pals in the missions none of them really were that memorable to me. But yeah, we're gonna have to agree to disagree. This was your most played, and I must've played through Me2 like 20 times on Ps3. I played the shit outta it, bro. It's my one and only platinum trophy.

I liked nearly everything about ME3. The story reminds me of Suikoden. You start off at the bottom and by gaining allies you become a force to be reckoned with. ME1 is the weakest of the 3 in all respects other than story. I plan on playing ME1 again but try and get through it quickly to get onto ME2.
