It is not.
I'm sure I can look for good examples when I'm at home. Nothing unique is done with the camera work in the old films. I recently watched the Rambo films and the original 3 are like a shot/reverse shot talk scene but with the action instead of talking. Same with Total Recall, loved that film as a kid but now it's boring to watch.
Even the legendary Star Wars films are like this. Film hero shooting weapon, film Stormtroopers reactions. The less said about the ep4 and ep5 light saber fights the better.
Congrats on mentioning all the popular films from the 80's and early 90's? Not including the JCVD and Segal films, 16 films out of literally hundreds of action films?
And I'll mention again that some of those films are great and memorable because of the story and characters, not necessarily because of how the action was filmed. Batman for example has very boring melee fights, Keaton couldn't even move properly in that suit.
I'm not counting the JCVD and Segal films as I haven't seen them in 25+ years. Blood sport is the only JCVD film I have watched recently, loved it as a kid, still love the music but it has boring fight choreography these days.
Too many camera changes and the actors are telegraphing their moves to obviously. Like someone punches someone else but then they leave their hand in the air because the next choreography step is for them to be grabbed. Too much slow motion. Some camera shots are set up to get a simple 2-4 move choreograph on film.
