Flight Simulator is unreal man. Not just graphics-wise, but with everything they're doing. They've reconstructed the entire Earth and have thousands of airports modeled. It's insanely awesome.

Yeah, so far there are very few examples of "Wow, now THAT is Next-Gen!"

The Unreal 5 Tech Demo definitely has that wow factor but it's just a tech demo. The track record of actual games looking as good as Unreal Engine tech demos speaks for itself. It just doesn't happen.

I would argue that games eventually end up looking better than their tech demos. Have you seen FF7remake? There are countless games that look better than the Unreal 4 tech demo from 2013.

Did MS ever confirm that the Hellblade trailer was being rendered on a console in real time? All I remember is DF saying they weren't sure. Also, are there any pictures of videos of Flight Simulator running on Xbox, or has everything they've shown off been on PC so far?

Hellblade was only ever said to be "In engine" 99% sure it was on a PC and it being real-time is tough to say for sure

Hellblade 2 and Horizon 2 are the ones that have impressed me the most so far as both the graphics and art styles are fucking amazing.

Flight Simulator is amazeballs technically, but I'm not as wowed by just real world, photo realistic stuff as I'm not into sims and play games to escape so I like things with more art style, fantasy/sci-fish designs etc. But still goddamn impressive in how good it looks and maybe the closest to photo realism I've seen.

Hellblade 2 is easily the most next gen looking title so far of any platform for me PC/XSX/PS5.

MS Flight is looking fucking incredible, gonna have some fun in just "Arcade" mode flying around the gorgeous locations and weather simulations.

horizon 2 looks like horizon 1 on max settings nothing impressive or cgi looking

Horizon 1 is one of my favorite games of all time and especially on the graphics and art design front, so that's totally fine by me. I'm not that wowed by things looking CGI like unless the art design appeals to me as that matters far more. So I was pretty blown away buy what was shown personally, even if it isn't technically as impressive as say Hellblade or especially the flight sim game.

Hell, I spend more time looking around at the environment in something like BOTW with great art design but not great graphics technically than I do things with super realistic looking graphics but real world settings. To each their own.

flight sim looks awesome. Can you get out of the plane and walk the fields, streets etc?
hell blade looks good! Is it the best? I doubt it. Ninja Theory is capable but they have never been a graphical power house.

I'd exchange all that IQ for VR.

Is Flight Sim confirmed VR? Looks fucking good.

For me was definitely Kena: Bridge Of Spirits.

I absolutely digging the art direction in this game.

Agreed. Not nearly as technically impressive as Hellblade or Horizon 2, but love the art style. Escapism is probably my top reason for gaming and realistic settings take away from that, especially as graphics get closer to photo-realism.

Flight simulator looks incredible!
I don't care about planes at all but damn I want to try it!
On X it will look great but it will really shine on series X. (And of course PC)

Hell blade 2 looks great too but it's fantasy setting, Flight simulator is enhanced reality .

Hellblade 2 still doesn't have in-game video, just in-engine. The final result could be different, for better or worse.

Since I replayed recently, I'd say that the difference is staggering. Horizon 1 has outstanding panoramas, so it's hard to notice at first sight, but on close ups the difference is very very big, especially on characters!

Agree with the general consensus Hellblade & Flight Sim blow everything else out of the water but I think Project Mara belongs in that elite group too. I also thought Horizon looked very nice, but it's not in the same class as those 3.

Gotta be this for me, here's some more

I'd put this over flight sim and Hellblade. I think Halo could be impressive when we see gameplay.

Call me a simpleton but I thought Returnal and Kena were the two best-looking games so far. Returnal appears to be a procedurally-generated roguelike, but with AAA graphics and full 3D landscapes. This blows my mind. Kena is supposed to be the token shitty launch platformer like Kameo or Knack or whatever, but I've watched the gameplay several times and I can't find fault with it yet. Aside from the fact that it doesn't look innovative or groundbreaking, everything else looks solid to me. The controls look responsive, the art direction is AAA, you can tell the artists are very self-aware as to the cuteness factor, and even the combat looks serviceable. My 7 year old daughter went wide-eyed when she watched the trailer.

All of these games look so good these days Kena, Ratchet and Clank, Hellblade 2 (if the in-engine trailer is anything to go by), Project Athia, Returnal, Flight Simulator, Horizon Forbidden West

Next generation will be crazy

In terms of art direction Scorn is my favorite so far. As a horror fan I like the Lovecraftian H.R. Giger inspiration and the devs' commitment to making the game as deranged and disturbing as possible.

Ratchet and Clank was the most impressive PS5 exclusive.
Horizon 2 was all cinematic cutscenese. So excluding it for the time being
I thought RE8 looked the best overall.
Project Aethis looked great, but is is a timed console exclusive and who knows if that game will ever see the light of day.

Some nice looking indie games.

So up to this point, i'd say RE8 and Ractchet and Clank were the two most impressive.
Like Horizon 2, Hellblade 2 has only been shown in in-engine cinematic footage.

I expect to see a lot more added to this list after the MS E3 July event. I expect Halo Infinite to fully take advantage of the XSX and be a technical stunner.

I expect Hellblade 2 to be a juggernaut tech piece along with Playgrounds new Fable and the Initiatives new project (Perfect Dark?)

Also expect a few major AAA 3rd party games like Starfield, AC Valhala, Rocksteadys new game? New Batman? The Elder Ring even?
