The most impressive looking next gen graphics so far

This is exactly the point.

It's a simulator for aviation enthusiasts - exactly why I lol at using it in gamer list wars. It's desperation due to lack of content and that's the only reason it's being mentioned by MS or anyone here.

Other gamers play it for 10 mins to see some graphics - crash the airplane and never look at it again.

May as well say Excel is loved by non-gamers too...

This is a thread about next-gen graphics though.

You could even tell a clear difference during the livestream, unless you were blind.

Still not impressive to me and judging by the polls at reeeera and alot of responses here its not impresive to alot of people either. Definetly not the "huge leap" being advertised.

Two isolated bubbles that often seem to be oblivious to reality.
Not a good metric for general reception.

I would take the opion of hardcore gamers that browse these forums over the opinion of the average joe that thinks changing two gameplay options on fifa is enough of a change to justify a new game every year.

Best looking next games so far from my personal tastes. This list is not in any particular order.

Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart
Horizon Forbidden West
Hellblade 2
Halo Infinite

But only if it matches your view, because these forums seem to be split on whether or not there is a leap.

I mean it goes both ways when you are also dismissing the other half that doesn't match your views either. Something like UE5 looked leagues better than any of the trailers shown and I saw that techdemo on a shitty youtube compressed video and it was still impressive. There was no need of 4k, comparrison videos or comparing screenshots it looked amazing from the start. I don't think anyone can deny that demo was impressive and looked like a huge leap compared to current gen games.

None of those trailers shown at the ps5 event looked anything close to that to me and I was not impressed at all by them. If you think its something subjective then there is no point on arguing honestly everyone is just gonna see what they want.

I haven't dismissed anything per se.

Apart from a visual leap you may or may not acknowledge, a lot of the generational leap will likely be in having more dynamic worlds, higher graphical fidelity and (near-) seemless transitions and whatnot.
Games like R&C, Horizon and Kena are a good example of that.

The event was just a first glimpse to get everybody's attention.
I'm pretty sure we'll see much more indepth looks over the coming months.

That's a cutscene, bro. Cutscene vs in game footage. HUGE difference.

HFW is definitely what we can expect ingame given what we saw in HZD on PS4. Cutscenes were on par with the gameplay, except the lighting as usual. On nextgen, since lighting will be awasome thanks to GI, cutscenes should be 1:1 with gameplay in terms of assets and lighting.

Yes, but this was "low res and inconsistent textures, the game". Many scripted walkthroughs and samey environments and enemies......The biggest focus/budget on Hellblade 1 was Senua…..
well which is it? Your moving goals here.
I haven't mentioned scripted or non scripted environments, character model library or combat animation for a reason, it has nothing to do with your Original claim that HB2 couldn't possibly looks as good as its own in-engine trailer. now you're going off on the art direction and story pacing because I showed how great the 1st game looks with 20% of the staff and developement resources the team has working on the sequel?

That's the same argument I hear fanboys give when discrediting TLOU btw, "underwhelming environment", very scripted and feels like a walkthrough. I ignore that Blind hate toward that title as well because it's rediculous and some people just want to complain.

ITS INSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all we are talking next gen graphics, you brought a last gen game with easily seen compromises in the game world. Best gen graphics is not only a character model. It's about the entire package. Notwithstanding Senua was not even close to the best character model last gen. Her animations was not even close to the best we saw....You cant compare TLOU to Hellblade because LOU excels/dominates in all aspects of graphics, not just it's character models...That's why LOU and UC have gotten so many Graphics awards....Just wait till NX and DF breakdown TLOU 2's graphics and the huge bonus points for them is that they are realtime and not prerendered footage at movie fps....

Exactly the discussion was about the next gen. The example everyone gave was HB2. You didn't like that, and said it's not possible. I have a current gen example of how the same tiny studio created a visually impressive game with less money and resources on less capable hardware. Then you discredit parts of the game that have literally nothing to do with visuals. You see the argument, you see the example and you move the goalpost away from visuals because you know that it makes sense. It's fine to say you don't like Hellblade, found it boring or were guinuinely unimpressed, but based on your reasons why, I'm not convinced you've ever played it on an X1X in 4K....ever. I welcome you to quote this post and simply revisit it in about 3weeks. The July reveal seems to be the only deciding factor as we've hit a wall in discourse that's flat-earth grade redundant. 70% of this thread can't wait to see it, 30% can't believe it's actually real. Both arguments keep people talking and now the hype is on😁😁😁

completely offtopic, just for funsies.

This is some shit straight outta Thomas the dank engine

Are game graphics indistinguishable from reality yet? Or still to reach Toy Story 4?

either way, fuck graphics. gameplay, interactions and immersion are far more important. Hyper Light Drifter had almost Atari level graphics and is still one hell of a game with gameplay that would be impossible back then. Raytracing will be as forgettable as HDR or normal mapping, most gamers won't even notice while they're blasting each other in their stupid trendy paintball...

For me was definitely Kena: Bridge Of Spirits.

I absolutely digging the art direction in this game.

I DESPERATELY want to see more of this game. FPS looked a bit low in the town area but it's gorgeous! I was surprised by how good Ratchet and Clank looked. Looked like Pixar quality movie, just like this game. So excited for next-gen.

I mean 20 people created this beauty. On Current gen tech.

I can only imagine what NT has been cooking up with that MS money bag now that their team has grown in size 5X's on next gen hardware
The game needs to be longer, more epic, better animations and dial up the insane just a tad, it'll be perfect.

Things like this makes me excited. Like the rate of improvment, I am 33 right now and I might atleast experience in my lifetime when we eventually reach ready player one levels.

One thing which somehow caught my interest, since I have pilot licence, to Cessna (too big feet to safely fly big commercial aircraft, no joke..so yeah I am definitelly winner in this situation, still salty about it)....well back to what I wanted to say, the approach over the coast looked realistic. And I don't mean realistic when it comes to graphics, but when it comes to speed, it's kind of detail/nuance, but they nailed it. Makes me want to rent a plane again.

I somewhat hope, this is going to be used, somehow in trailer or in-game:

To be fair, while impressive, it's all about still backgrounds while you slowly, slowly fly in the air. There are no AI scripts or shit going on all over the screen, so the CPU/GPU can truly focus on the landscape.

Still. Impressive is impressive.

Exactly. If it's not doing very much then you can focus the power on what it is doing and do that really really well.

Just like how some of the best LOOKING games of the current gen are walking simulators.

well if we're including games that are releasing cross gen then there is no doubt Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the best looking games.
