The "my pre order vendor f*cked my Switch release day delivery" thread

Never got anything out of the CS people I tried. I don't really get how people were getting these huge discounts on their order, the reps I talked to were basically like "yeah we fucked up but thanks for being an Amazon customer." Any time I get something shipped by Amazon Logistics it's usually incredibly late or in some cases it never arrives. I wish you could pick who delivered your packages, but it would probably be too difficult with the fulfillment centers and all. I just wish they had the foresight to send an email before hand that it would be delayed, it's really dumb that I had to wait for the tracking to update the day it was released to know it was coming later.

Have you said, verbatim, "I would like a full refund of [whatever] for my inconvenience?"

Amazon will not voluntarily give you these huge discounts. You have to demand them.

Pretty much. A few months back, when the PS4 Pro launched, the price dropped by about $60 a few weeks after the fact. I called to ask for a price adjustment, got nothing. Called, complained again, demanded the price difference, and got it pretty damn quickly.

It sucks so many people got screwed over by amazon and the inability to handle the switch pre orders.

I live in Hawaii so it's not even possible for me to get mine on release. I have to wait until Tuesday to get my switch and my memory card. I was able to walk into Walmart and buy a pro controller and zelda.

It's not the end of the world for me because I work Sat-Mon so I can wait. It just sucks I really want to try it out and have to wait.

Exactly. There's a life lesson in this post.

FYI I just bought a Switch and Zelda at the Amazon Books in Seattle. They said they have enough stock of the console for another hour or so. Business was steady. Grey model only. Tons of other Switch stuff.

Glad you were able to nab one. They really did have quite a few of them.

Lol what a joke. So after mine got delayed to today, with the usual CS rep bullshit of it was going to get delivered last night, it was out for delivery this morning. I checked again to see if was delivered yet and...

"This item was damaged in transit, it is being returned to the warehouse"

Called and bitched and got $50 in credit and the item refunded. That's all they would do, no budging.

Never again .

Walmart's cust care line swears my order was slated for 6th/7th, which would've been fine (since I snagged such a late preorder), except the site and even the in-store records still say it would be fulfilled yesterday. Got a 10% discount on my Switch, which honestly I'll take. But for such a huge chain, Wal-Mart really fumbles preorders.

Going to try again. This time asking for a refund for the GC I purchased to pay for the Switch if they cannot provide anything more than they are investigating. I am not even sure if they can refund gift cards though.

I canceled mine but my friend got his extra controller and game today with no system.

UPS said it'll be there monday.

Lol. Wow. What a disaster this has been.

Mine got to my city at 1:22 AM this morning...but still shows Monday as the delivery date. Makes no sense. Should be out for delivery today.

After everything that happened yesterday I was told they'd put priority on my package. It just now shipped and is coming via USPS on Monday. Fuck Amazon.

Got my Switch yesterday, but no Zelda. Best Buy tracker still says Friday, March 3rd and the UPS tracker is only on the initiated phase. :/

I'm not getting it until Monday am I?

My switch arrived today but I didn't bother getting it since

1) zelda hasn't shipped and is sold out

2) I don't have my protector screen

Amazon gave me 20% off the Switch for it being late, and $20 credit for Zelda Breath of the Wild being late.

Total of $84 or so.

Amazon screwed me over completely, and I still don't have my Switch, but thanks to their legendary service, they made it up to me with this:

surprised how much of you are getting discount or stuff completely free, amazon.ca doesn't offer any of that type of stuff and the reps actively just made up things to me the 3 times i spoke with them lol

You need to know the proper way to phrase your problem in a polite, but frustrated way. Talk to other people, ask for supervisors or even ask for a domestic office if you can. There definitely are ways to escalate your claim, especially by using the term "escalations". Some reps will say "I can only do $5" or whatever, but you can definitely get more compensations over fiascos like this.

Tracking says it's out for delivery since 9AM but it's already 3 and the CS replied to my original email saying it's coming on the 7th. I don't really get how all these retailers had stock but Amazon is struggling to fulfill pre-orders that most people probably put in the day it went up.

My mother in law gets free stuff and huge refunds all the time from Amazon. I guess she just has that voice that scares folks lol.

I didn't have any issues thankfully, hope everyone gets there stuff eventually

Same with mine but it just got here ^_^

Ended up cancelling everything on Amazon and just spending a couple hours hunting down what I wanted. Picked up a carry case, screen protector, Pro Controller and Zelda today. The only thing left on Amazon now are my Amiibo.

I think I'm just going to check out Fry's later. I need to get a couple other things anyway. If they have it, cool, but I'm kinda done with this bullshit.

I finally got my Switch.

In the end I had placed 2 orders. One back in Jan as soon as preorders went up , and one on Friday when I was pissed and saw I could order one with one day shipping and receive it over the weekend.

I ended up receiving the order I placed yesterday. The order I placed in January has yet to ship.

What the actual fuck, Amazon.

I called Amazon CS and complained because a supervisor I spoke with yesterday guaranteed me that I would get my Switch today but it seems that I'm getting it tomorrow instead. Didn't get much, but I did manage to get a $30 refund after denying yet another free month of Prime.

I just wanted to play Zelda during the weekend...

Amazon finally e-mailed me an updated shipping date of.... TOMORROW!

But I'm still scared because it is coming USPS and i didn't think USPS brought stuff on Sundays?

My Switch and pro controller came in today from Amazon. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones to get it a day late instead. Wish you guys all the best in getting yours as soon as possible.

USPS actually delivers on Sundays. Typically just packages from what I've seen and not mail. My Pro controller is being shipped through them and is arriving tomorrow.

Wowowowow. That's insanity. Guess I shouldn't have preordered in January, *sigh.*

To add to my saga, I called UPS to see if I could just go and pick it up today. She said the item isn't actually here yet even though it says "Arrival scan" in my city on the tracking website.

Walked into the Gamestop and they had hard cover strategy guides for on the counter. Amazon has yet to ship mine. -_-

So I got 2 pro controllers. One shipped from Amazon and One shipped from Best Buy. A switch console and no game because whoever shipped my Zelda copy used the slowest shipping they could find.

I wonder if Amazon will ship packages on Sundays. If am worried they don't and if I don't get a response today it will be sometime next week (or later) before my order is even shipped or they update me on my order.

They can.

They gave me a $60 refund to my gift card balance. Ended up using it towards an eshop card.

Yay, a game and yet nothing to play it with. Thanks Best Buy! *Amazon shipped me the game.

I'm going to read the back cover blurb, and use my imagination to fill in what it must feel like actually experiencing this game of the generation contender. This is what people do with books right?

Any Amazon courier stories?

Phone says it's still on its way by 8pm tonight. No tracking or anything though.

It's the same for me.

I actually remember owning Mario 64 before owning the console, but at least there was a cool manual to read back then :'(

Well, I got $20 back. Whatever. If I can find a Switch at Fry's, I'm still sending it back whenever it does arrive from Amazon.

Just got an email that my order will be arriving tomorrow! I don't think I'll use these guys again. I'll just go to a store and pick it up next time.

My Switch has been sitting in a UPS facility in my goddamn hometown for the last 28 hours. I winced as soon as I saw it was shipping via UPS even before the delay fiasco became known. UPS fucking sucks. They have never been helpful or even the slightest bit accommodating; once they have your package, they have you by the balls and they know it. They relish it. "Yeah, I got yous package right here *grabs dick*. Maybe I'll deliver it today, maybes I won't. Can't says I'm feelin' particularly motivated, ya know?" But hey, at least I got a free month of Prime and a $0.12 refund for my troubles.
