Someone should make a couple of the trophies and send them to Izubuchi and Hosoda.
I'm only shocked at Monogatari not being in the top 10. The list looks good except for that. Hanekawa and Mayoi's bits in particular (along with Kaiki's) were absolutely fantastic.
Uchouten Kazoku making #3 is a wonderful surprise and it really deserves it. KLK getting #2 is a huge surprise as even the KLK thread wavers on how good it is at times.

Man I was hoping Kyousougiga would at least make the top ten.
But seeing Yamato, Kill la Kill and Eccentric Family place in the top three makes me pretty happy. Wolf Children as the top film in its category was a no-brainer and very well deserved. Pretty great year overall. Hoping 2014 is better.

lol Hunter x hunter at Number 8 and Kill la kill way above at number 2 goes to show quality story writing has no place in anime,since it holds negative to no value to animefans.
HxH superior story,characters,art,animation,music means nothing when it's up against skimpy dressed highschool girls fighting symmetrically while shouting really loudly over butt-j rock engrish rock about losing your wave.
It's really interesting how both are complete opposites, HxH embodies everything animes should strive for,great story,characters,imaginative world, clever suspenseful fights,thrilling music and also spooky super consistent animation(all 2d) & art.
on the opposite side you have kill la kill your loud dumb shounen set in your small scope highschool,about 2 one dimensional flat rivals main characters surrounded by insignificant sub characters, who based on the ultra played out trope of hot blooded red vs elitists cool blue and dress up in skimpy hooker outfits to ram each other in unimaginative stalemate fights.
Also 90% of the time it's very poorly animated or not animated at all.
I haven't seen yamamto but I can say this the first time something godawful(well at least Looking) didn't win No.1.
These popularity polls are interesting to read, as it's one few times you get to read people opinions animes that rarely post about anime, even if duckroll is always tampering with it every year.

There's so many shows I need to catch up on.
Hell, I've been meaning to catch up on shows from many, many seasons ago, and the only ones I've started this season were Monogatari S2 (yeah!) and Attack on Titan (meh).

Consider it voting for that "season" of the show, like any television awards show.
Because "finished" is a nebulous idea in the world of anime that has no relevance on whether a show from a given season was also one of the most enjoyable.
Aku no Hana isn't "finished", because the manga is still continuing and there is a miniscule but real chance of a Season 2.
Hataraku Maou isn't "finished", because the light novels are still going and it was moderately successful enough to warrant a season 2. The same applies to SNAFU, Silver Spoon, Non Non Biyori, Love Lab, Yozakura Quartet and Log Horizon
KLK, AoT, Gundam and HxH are definitely not finished.
JoJo is kind of finished and kind of not depending on your definition of "finished". Alternatively, it'll never finish because the manga is soon to be 3 decades old. By the time they adapt all the existing material, there will be enough material for another few years of anime.
You see? It just keeps going on and on. Being "finished" is such a restrictive and arbitrary condition that it's not worth the added hassle of determining whether or not a show qualifies for AOTY. Especially when you already have cases like Wolf Children which was released in 2012 but wasn't widely available outside of Japan until 2013 so it wouldn't make sense for it to count as a 2012 show.

I feel the negativity is more in light of recent episodes. I even voted for it when the voting first went up, but took it off after reflecting upon the last few episodes.

I could agree with it probably being in Top 5 of 2013 but second place? I definitely don't believe that from the episodes it aired in 2013, hell I don't think from the episodes that aired up until voting ended, that it was worth being second place (though that's obviously just my opinion).
I'm surprised that the Blue Exorcist movie didn't take 3rd place and also that Gintama: Yorozuya Forever got 4th. Actually I'm just surprised Blue Exorcist didn't hit Top 3.

TWGOK III getting 69th place huh. I thought it was the best out of the whole series.
Also Monogatari Second Season not making the top 10 is interesting. I guess those recaps hurt.
Anyway I didn't vote so I can't complain.
Thinking about it, yeah, they probably did a lot of damage. Doubly so since they axed an entire arc out that should have been in S2.
What was there was often fantastic though.
Gundam Build Fighters in the top 10? It's a show about kids that make plamo's and then fight them. It's flashy at times but outside of the mobile suits, it has almost none of what makes Gundam Gundam. Unless you're going to tell me that the kid starts actually fighting in a real Gundam at some point during the season.
But last years list was really good.
